Chapter 329 - 157: Dragon Burial Island
First Peak, Private Courtyard.
Liang Cheng sat cross-legged in the Quiet Chamber. He took out the Jade Slip and Beast Hide Map he had obtained from Huang Tiancheng and examined them closely.
’Crossing the Sea True Intent Fragment.’
He had started practicing this Cultivation Technique back in the True Qi Realm. It had carried him all the way to Core Formation, helped him survive countless desperate situations, and allowed his Cultivation to advance even further.
’Now, I’ve finally found a clue to the next part.’
’Dragon Burial Island, Cross-Sea Cliff.’
"It’s a shame. What’s recorded in this Jade Slip is still a fragment. It only has a few complete sections; most of it is still missing."
Liang Cheng pressed the Jade Slip to his forehead and carefully sensed its contents.
A moment later, he opened his eyes, his brow furrowed.
The contents of the Jade Slip were a chaotic mess. No wonder Huang Tiancheng couldn’t cultivate it after obtaining it. However, because Liang Cheng possessed the preceding fragment from the Qiao Family’s heirloom, he could make some sense of it.
"It seems I have no choice but to make a trip to Dragon Burial Island."
’But now that my old grievances are settled and I’ve joined the Penglai Sect, I haven’t had a chance to properly look through the Scripture Pavilion. That should be my priority.’
With this in mind, he put away the Jade Slip and the map, then rose and left the room.
...
The Scripture Pavilion, a nine-story tower, stood majestically on the mountainside of the Main Peak.
Liang Cheng strode inside.
The first floor was the area for Outer Sect Disciples. Hundreds of bookshelves were arranged in neat rows, laden with countless Jade Slips sorted by category.
Dozens of Outer Sect Disciples were engrossed in their reading. When they saw Liang Cheng enter, they first froze in surprise, then quickly bowed their heads in respect and cleared a path.
By now, Liang Cheng’s name had already spread throughout the Sect.
The Direct Disciple of the First Peak Master, champion of the Immortal Ascension Conference, who had achieved Breaking Mortality and Forming Core through his enlightenment on the Ice Soul Scripture—he alone had suppressed the senior Outer Sect Disciples to the point where they couldn’t even raise their heads.
Naturally, no one dared to provoke him.
Liang Cheng didn’t linger and went straight up to the third floor.
The third floor was the area for Inner Sect Disciples. There were far fewer bookshelves, but every Jade Slip was inscribed with a Prohibition that had to be unlocked with a Disciple Token.
Liang Cheng walked to a bookshelf in the corner and swept it with his Divine Sense.
A moment later, he took down a Jade Slip and pressed it to his forehead.
Four Seas Atlas: Records of the Islands Abroad
The Jade Slip recorded the geography and features of the sea region around the Seventy-Two Islands Overseas, including the locations of the islands, the distribution of various powers, and areas where Demon Beasts appeared.
It also mentioned Secret Realms and ancient ruins.
’The Secret Realm in Lin Wu City is in here too!’
’No wonder the Penglai Sect arrived so quickly back then.’
Unfortunately, the opening of a Secret Realm was unpredictable and depended entirely on chance.
Liang Cheng scanned through it quickly and soon found the information he was looking for.
"Dragon Burial Island, located three thousand li northeast of Penglai Immortal Island, is about a hundred li in size and is perpetually shrouded in mist."
"The Spiritual Qi on the island is chaotic, and Demon Beasts run rampant. Legend says it is the ruin of an ancient battlefield where a true dragon once fell, hence the name Dragon Burial Island."
"The island is littered with ruins and remains, and treasures occasionally surface. However, the mist is bizarre, and those who enter are easily lost. Only once every three years is there a one-month period when the mist dissipates, allowing for deeper exploration."
"It is said that in the center of the island lies Cross-Sea Cliff. Atop the cliff stands an ancient stele with an inscription that has become blurred and illegible. However, Cultivators often seek Enlightenment at the base of the cliff and occasionally make great gains."
Reading this, Liang Cheng felt a sense of certainty.
’Cross-Sea Cliff really does exist.’
He continued to read.
"Dragon Burial Island is under the jurisdiction of the Penglai Sect. Every three years, the Sect issues a batch of Dragon Burial Orders. Holders of these orders may enter the island to explore during the period when the mist has cleared."
"The orders are divided into three tiers: a Copper Order grants access to the outer area, a Silver Order to the Central Area, and a Golden Order to the core."
"In addition to Sect Disciples, affiliated powers of the Sect can also receive a portion of the Dragon Burial Orders based on their contributions, as a sign of the Sect’s favor."
Liang Cheng put away the Jade Slip, lost in thought.
’Dragon Burial Order.’
’I don’t have one of those.’
’However, I’m a Direct Disciple now. I should be qualified to apply for one.’
’No wonder Huang Tiancheng never went to Dragon Burial Island even though he had the key. So that’s how it is.’
’How would Huang Tiancheng dare to act recklessly in a place belonging to the Penglai Sect?’
Just as he was thinking this, a voice came from behind him.
"Junior Brother Liang, you’re interested in Dragon Burial Island as well?"
Liang Cheng turned around.
The man who approached looked to be in his late thirties, with a slender build and a smile on his face. He wore a set of cyan robes.
Liang Cheng didn’t recognize the man, but he could sense the aura of a Core Formation cultivator. He could only smile and ask, "And you are, Senior Brother?"
The man wasn’t offended and answered directly.
"Gu Changge, Direct Disciple of the Seventh Peak."
"Senior Brother Gu."
Liang Cheng hurriedly bowed in greeting, but Gu Changge waved his hand dismissively.
"Junior Brother Liang, there’s no need for such formalities."
He walked over to Liang Cheng’s side and glanced at the Jade Slip in his hand.
"Dragon Burial Island is indeed a good place. I went there once, three years ago. I found a few stalks of Thousand Year Ganoderma in the outer area and traded them for a good number of Elixirs."
He paused here for a moment.
"But the place is also dangerous. The mist is bizarre, Fierce Beasts roam in packs, and the slightest carelessness could get you killed in there."
"Three years ago, Junior Brother Chen got greedy and went too deep. He never came out, and there’s been no news of him since."
Hearing this, Liang Cheng nodded his thanks.
"Thank you for the warning, Senior Brother."
Gu Changge looked at him and suddenly smiled.
"Junior Brother Liang, I heard that when you first joined the Sect, you single-handedly suppressed those senior Outer Sect Disciples so thoroughly they couldn’t even raise their heads?"
Liang Cheng just smiled and didn’t answer.
Gu Changge didn’t seem to mind and continued on his own accord:
"Those Outer Sect trash are used to bullying the weak and fearing the strong. They deserved to be taught a lesson."
He paused, then looked at Liang Cheng.
"But the Inner Sect is different."
"There are thirty-five people in the Inner Sect, and every single one of them is in the Core Formation and Breaking Mortality Realm. The top ten are all True Pill Powerhouses, and some have even half-stepped into the Golden Core Realm."
"Even though you’re a Direct Disciple of the First Peak, you’re still new. If you run into those veteran Inner Sect Disciples, it’s best to keep a low profile."
Liang Cheng looked at him.
"Thank you for the advice, Senior Brother Gu."
Gu Changge smiled and patted Liang Cheng on the shoulder.
"I’m telling you this because I feel a certain kinship with you. Don’t read too much into it. Anyway, I’m going to look for some materials myself. You take your time."
With that, he turned and left.
