Chapter 43: Chapter 44: Even if the Celestial King Comes, You Can’t Escape
WHIRRR!
A dart struck the doorframe behind Su Chen with blinding speed, vibrating violently.
Hearing this, Zhu Ming’s heart skipped a beat. "How is this possible?" he thought. He had deliberately blinded his opponent with lime powder before throwing the poisoned dart. He had intended to use the opportunity to kill Su Chen, but to his disbelief, Su Chen dodged it.
He had aimed perfectly, yet the outcome left him utterly shocked. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t faced Martial Artists before; whenever he unleashed this signature combo, virtually no Martial Artist could evade it. But this rule seemed to fail against Su Chen. He realized that this man was far more formidable than any assassin who had come after him before.
"Damn it, how can this guy be so strong!" Zhu Ming cursed inwardly, his mind racing for an escape route. With Su Chen blocking the main door, the only way out was the window.
"The window it is!" he thought.
Making a prompt decision, he prepared to jump. However, before he could even move, a ghost-like silhouette flashed past his eyes.
The next moment, the most dazzling light he had ever seen in his life flared before him, and then the entire world began to spin.
"If I had known this would happen, I wouldn’t have come to the Flower Fragrance Building tonight. I wouldn’t have slacked off on my martial arts, and I certainly wouldn’t have indulged in wine and women... Sigh, if there is a next life, I will swear off lust!" he thought in despair.
Regretful thoughts flooded Zhu Ming’s fading consciousness. As his head hit the floor, his lingering resentment finally dissipated.
THUD, THUD, THUD!
Blood erupted from Zhu Ming’s severed neck. His head rolled across the floor like a ball, leaving a striking trail of crimson in its wake.
"Phew!"
Having beheaded Zhu Ming, Su Chen let out a long breath. Killing one Zhu Ming was more exhausting than killing two Zhao Kuos!
"Ahhh!"
A piercing shriek shattered the silence of the Flower Fragrance Building. Upon their Awakening, two girls witnessed the gruesome scene and screamed hysterically.
STOMP, STOMP, STOMP!
As their screams echoed outward, urgent footsteps rapidly approached the door. Seeing this, Su Chen’s figure blurred as he leaped, crashing through the window.
"Who’s there?!" the two Guards shouted, kicking the door open.
Stepping into the room, they were greeted by the sight of blood splattered across the floor. They paused. Just as they were about to step forward, they froze, catching sight of Zhu Ming’s severed head right by their feet.
Instantly, their expressions darkened as a potent mix of anger and terror swelled within them. If the Protector found out that Zhu Ming had been killed due to their dereliction of duty, they would face severe consequences.
At the thought of the cult’s punishments, the two shivered involuntarily. They exchanged a glance, reaching an unspoken consensus. They had to find the killer. Only by capturing the assassin could they atone for their failure!
"Where is the person who did this?" one of the Guards demanded harshly, glaring at the two girls.
"He... he escaped through the window!" one of the girls stammered, trembling.
Hearing this, the two Guards exchanged a look and immediately bolted out the window.
"After him!"
Having left the Flower Fragrance Building, Su Chen sensed footsteps trailing him and glanced back. Soon enough, he spotted two figures giving chase.
"It’s Zhu Ming’s two Guards!" he thought. Su Chen recognized them at a glance; they were the two strongest Guards who had been by Zhu Ming’s side.
"There’s no escape!" the duo roared, spotting Su Chen. They accelerated their pursuit.
Facing their relentless chase, Su Chen did not speed up. Instead, shortly after ducking into an alley, he slightly slowed his pace.
The two quickly caught up. Seeing Su Chen come to a halt, they immediately raised their guards, slowly advancing on him from the left and right. Su Chen’s gaze darted between them. As they closed the distance, he seized the initiative and launched the first strike.
He stomped hard on the ground, shooting forward like a cannonball. In the blink of an eye, he was right in front of one of the Guards. Although the Guard was prepared, he was still startled by Su Chen’s sheer speed, his pupils contracting slightly.
He immediately lunged forward, forming his hands into claws. As his arms flailed and his sharp claws slashed through the air, a faint whistling sound echoed out.
Su Chen, quick on the draw, abruptly seized the man’s arm mid-strike. A tremendous force poured through his fingers and into the Guard’s wrist, forcefully halting the man’s momentum. Immediately after, a sickening CRACK rang out.
"What?!" the Guard cried out in horror. Fighting through the agonizing pain in his arm, he swung his other hand at Su Chen, taking the opportunity to yank his trapped arm free. Su Chen didn’t press the issue; he instantly let go and blocked the incoming strike.
At that exact moment, the other Guard dashed in front of Su Chen, throwing a ferocious punch that roared through the air and slammed into Su Chen’s body. However, the instant his fist connected, a crisp sound of clashing metal rang out, causing the Guard’s expression to drastically change.
Before he could even process his shock, Su Chen’s counterattack arrived in a flash as he threw a punch of his own.
In a split second, the opponent’s mind registered the danger, but his body couldn’t keep up. Taking Su Chen’s fist head-on, he was blasted backward, skidding several meters across the ground before finally stabilizing himself. Two long drag marks were left in the dirt.
The two Guards exchanged a glance, both seeing a trace of apprehension in the other’s eyes. This brief exchange had made them realize that Su Chen was a force to be reckoned with.
"Again!" they roared, striking once more. Advancing side by side, they launched a thunderous assault on Su Chen.
Su Chen’s eyes flickered as he waited for the perfect moment. If he didn’t use his Inner Power or his Sleeve Saber, relying purely on his steel blade to kill these two would genuinely be quite difficult. He had no intention of prolonging the stalemate. He bided his time, searching for an opening to deliver a fatal strike.
At that moment, the two figures closed in, their attacks descending simultaneously. He was severely outnumbered, making it all the more difficult for the one-armed Su Chen to defend himself. Faced with their relentless onslaught, he had no choice but to retreat. However, as he twisted his body to block one of the Guards’ strikes, he suddenly felt a powerful jolt.
"Inner Power!" he thought.
He looked at the Guard in astonishment. As if anticipating Su Chen’s reaction, the Guard revealed an eerie smile, though his hands didn’t slow down in the slightest.
The second Guard followed up immediately, landing a palm strike square on Su Chen’s chest. He knew Su Chen was wearing Soft Armor, but no matter how tough the Soft Armor was, could it possibly stop Inner Power?
"Another Power Training Martial Artist!" he thought.
Feeling the Inner Power radiating from both of them, Su Chen could no longer maintain his composure, his expression shifting in shock. He had assumed they were just two Martial Artists at Perfect Power Cultivation, but they turned out to be Entering the Realm Martial Artists. What right did Zhu Ming have to be protected by two Power Training Martial Artists?
But Su Chen had no time to marvel at this. The instant they made physical contact with him, both Guards had injected a stream of Inner Power into his body. Now, two streams of Inner Power had breached his body and were wreaking havoc within.
Fortunately, his physique was exceptionally robust. Before the two streams of Inner Power could run rampant for long, they were crushed by his sheer muscle density.
Staring at Su Chen, who was being forced back step by step, one of them sneered. "A fool who hasn’t even achieved Entering the Realm thinks he can escape from us? Do you really think we’re just pushovers? Today, even if the Celestial Kings themselves came, there will be no escape for you!"
Hearing this, Su Chen narrowed his eyes, a glint flashing in his gaze as a cold smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
"The time has come. You’re the one," he thought.
Suddenly, a jarring SWISH pierced the air, crashing down with a wave of despair and death!
