Chapter 378: Chapter 325: Selling Like Crazy

Zelir didn’t know what to make of the Assassin’s Guild.

It was like society’s dark underbelly.

Every bustling town, no matter how bright and glamorous on the surface, was bound to have a corresponding side that couldn’t see the light of day.

’Who knows what sort of dealings go on in there...’

Then again, who cares? It’s not like it has anything to do with me.’

As he was about to leave, Zelir took one last look at the messy room.

He hesitated for a moment before asking.

"So... are you sure you don’t want to call room service to tidy up a bit?"

"No need."

Hill curled her entire body into the soft, high-backed chair and gave a lazy wave.

"I don’t like other people in my room."

"Alright..." Zelir said, closing the door behind him.

...

「Nightfall.」

「Forest Language Tavern.」

As evening settled in, the tavern grew livelier, its main door swinging open and shut with increasing frequency.

The room was abuzz with voices, and nearly every seat was taken.

Adventurers returning laden with spoils from the ruins, merchants flush with profits from their businesses, and a number of shrewd mercenaries.

They were all drinking heartily, enjoying a rare moment of relaxation.

Zelir, Hill, Gray, and Valles had all arrived early.

Ironically, Marcus, who had organized the gathering, had yet to appear.

The food, however, had already been ordered and served.

A large platter of honey-glazed chicken, roasted to a glistening golden-brown.

There was beef and potato stew, Zelir’s favorite; a mixed grill platter, Gray’s favorite; and a salad of assorted vegetables.

It was quite a spread.

"Where’s Marcus?"

Zelir asked, taking a sip of his fruit juice.

He scanned the room but still didn’t see the familiar tall figure. "Gray, aren’t you his roommate?"

Gray, humming a little tune to himself, poured a glass of crimson fruit wine.

He was quite fond of the sweet and sour specialty of Sengu Town.

Then, Gray said unhurriedly, "Marcus is probably still clinging to his boyfriend."

"COUGH, COUGH...!" Zelir choked on his juice.

"Boyfriend?"

Valles’s eyes widened as if he’d just heard something shocking.

Even Hill glanced over.

"Oh... you know, Wells."

Gray tilted his head back and downed the fruit wine in one gulp. "They’ve been together for the past few days, studying that damned map day in and day out."

"Marcus even goes out with Wells to sell maps and whatnot. The two of them are practically inseparable."

"That’s called being dedicated."

Zelir shot Gray a sideways glance before turning to Valles. "How is that young Elf, Aidi?"

"He’s doing okay..."

Valles said.

"He found a pretty reliable Adventurer Squad. He spends his days on the first floor of the ruins, hunting for treasure and killing some Demons. It’s good training for him."

"You’d better keep a close eye on him."

Gray’s smile was mischievous.

"A Pure-blood Elf that pretty is bound to attract a lot of attention in the human world."

"Aidi’s a guy," Valles said.

"And you think guys don’t have admirers? How naive can you be?"

When it came to this topic, Gray’s face lit up with excitement.

"Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop." Zelir quickly cut in.

’Any further and this conversation is going to take a weird turn.’

Valles just shook his head with a sigh of resignation.

The tavern door was pushed open, and the sound of approaching footsteps drew nearer.

Marcus had finally arrived.

He strode directly to the squad’s booth, pulled out a chair, and sat down.

Without a word, he grabbed Gray’s cup of fruit wine and downed it in one go. GULP, GULP.

After he finished, he slammed the empty cup down on the table.

Marcus closed his eyes and took a deep breath, his chest heaving. His face held an expression of irrepressible excitement.

Only after a long moment did he gradually calm down.

"Marcus, what’s gotten into you...?"

Zelir asked cautiously. "You’re acting really strange today."

Marcus finally couldn’t contain his excitement any longer.

He opened his eyes, leaned forward, and whispered three words in a low voice.

"Sales are insane...!"

"What?" Valles asked, confused.

"Our guide! It’s selling like crazy!"

A brilliant smile spread across Marcus’s face. "We sold over forty copies in total!"

"Over forty copies?" Gray’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Even Hill was surprised by the number.

’Twenty Gold Coins for one guide... and they’d actually sold over forty copies in just a few days?’

’That’s over eight hundred Gold Coins in revenue!’

’Based on the 80-20 split, the team would get over six hundred Gold Coins. And that was pure profit, with almost no overhead.’

"You’re not mistaken, are you?" Zelir also lowered his voice.

’That number far exceeded his estimate.’

’He would have considered selling a dozen or so copies a success.’

"It’s the absolute truth!"

Marcus laughed. "I’ve been with Wells for the past few days, and tons of people want to buy the map to the second floor of the ruins!"

"Why?"

Valles asked, puzzled. "It’s just the entrance to the second floor... Why would so many squads buy it?"

"The gear! It’s the gear!"

Marcus’s eyes shone with excitement.

"Remember when we went to the second floor? Those monsters were all wearing Armor and carrying weapons. That’s prime loot!"

"Besides the ordinary Decayed we ran into before, there are tons of well-equipped Decayed inside the Ancient Castle!"

"The quality of their Armor and weapons is excellent. For Adventurers with mediocre gear, the appeal is simply irresistible!"

"At first, there weren’t that many buyers, but once word started to get around, sales shot right up."

"Now, even the Adventurer’s Association is starting to organize teams to enter the ruins and establish a camp."
