My Magic Has No Upper Limit
Chapter 376 - 324: Killing Needs No Reason
Chapter 376: Chapter 324: Killing Needs No Reason
At this thought, Zelir couldn’t help but start fantasizing.
’If...’
’If one day, I really managed to take down a Red Dragon...’
’What kind of trait could Seizing Tyranny get from it?’
’Dragon Scale Skin, which would let me ignore most Flame damage? A boost that would amplify my Fire Magic to the Dragon Flame Level? Or the Majesty of the Dragon, allowing me to intimidate weaker creatures with a single glance?’
’Or perhaps some other, even more powerful trait...’
’I have to admit, the fantasy was thrilling.’
The book also described other vicious Demons.
For example, the Abyssal Sea Monster.
A legendary deep-sea Demon of colossal size, said to rival a small island.
Rumor had it that it could easily coil around giant ships hundreds of meters long, crushing and devouring them as if twisting a rope.
No one had ever truly seen its face, and the book speculated it might be something like a gargantuan whale, or perhaps have a structure similar to an octopus.
If one could hunt it, the acquired trait would surely be water-related.
An amplification of Water Magic or the ability of Deep Sea Breathing were both possibilities.
Then there was the Storm Giant Eagle.
A legendary Demon dwelling in the sea of clouds between high mountains, its wingspan could reach tens of meters.
Each of its feathers crackled with perpetual lightning, and every beat of its wings could whip up a violent hurricane. It was said to be extremely aggressive!
’From it, could I seize Thunder Control, or the ability of Brief Flight...’
"My god... you’re really getting into this, huh? Already thinking about how to slay dragons?"
Gray said in surprise, noticing the book Zelir was poring over.
"I’m not signing up to be a Giant Dragon’s dinner... but then again, all this stuff is fake anyway."
"How do you know it’s fake?" Zelir asked, snapping out of his daydream.
"You can tell just by the author’s name,"
Gray said, as if it were obvious.
"Who’s the author of this book...? Elfie?"
"That name sounds like a total sissy. Going on an expedition to a Dragon’s Nest... claiming he personally measured a Red Dragon’s wingspan."
Gray sneered.
"If he really did that, would he have made it out alive?"
"And this catalog of mythical creatures even makes up stuff like the ’Phantom of the Elf King.’ Who’s the author...?"
Gray flipped through the pages.
"Lancelot? Another guy who loves to pull stuff out of his ass. Never heard of him."
"Fair enough..."
Zelir had to admit Gray had a point.
But he couldn’t help but read it, just like a novel.
Besides, the battle scenes described in the book were pretty interesting, detailing where to strike a dragon first and so on, making it all sound so real.
"Right, on to business," Gray said. "Marcus wants us to meet at the tavern tonight."
"We’ve rested long enough, so it’s time to figure out how to explore the second level."
"Okay." Zelir nodded.
"By the way... do you know where Hill is?"
Gray asked, scratching his head.
"I went to let her know, but no one answered when I knocked on her door a few times... You don’t think she’s still at the Assassin’s Guild, do you?"
"I’m not sure," Zelir said, shaking his head.
Now that Gray mentioned it, Zelir realized it was true.
Over the past few days, going up and down the stairs, Zelir had occasionally seen Marcus, Gray, or Valles.
But he had never seen Hill.
It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
"Don’t worry about her. She’ll probably come back on her own when she thinks it’s time," Zelir said.
"Alright then."
After Gray left, silence returned to the room.
Zelir flipped a few more pages of the illustrated catalog of mythical creatures.
There was the Frost Giant, which dwelled in the depths of the Extreme Cold Glacier on the World’s Spine.
With a mere gesture, it could summon Glacier Magic powerful enough to reshape the landscape, making it the absolute ruler of its extreme environment.
The Wailing Banshee, a Spiritual Demon that was exceptionally skilled in Spirit Magic.
It didn’t even need to engage in direct combat; its song alone could bewitch humans, making them willingly sacrifice their lives for it.
The catalog also listed Demons like the Goblin King.
Its physique far surpassed that of an ordinary goblin, and its intelligence was on par with a human’s.
A Goblin King was typically the ruler of all Goblin Tribes within a vast territory and could even orchestrate a small-scale war against a town.
To make an enemy of it was to face an entire army.
"Tsk, tsk... this world is massive," Zelir marveled as he read.
’I’ve only seen a tiny corner of the vast Candia Continent. There are still so many places I’ve yet to set foot in.’
After a long while, having read his fill, Zelir stretched contentedly and drained the cup of herbal tea.
’It’s about time to head to the tavern,’ he thought.
Zelir pushed open his door, originally intending to go straight downstairs.
But, as if guided by a strange premonition, he instead went up the wooden stairs and arrived at the door to Hill’s room.
’He hadn’t seen her in days.’
’Hill... where on earth had she gone?’
Marcus and Gray’s double room was on the third floor.
Valles’s single room was on the fourth, Zelir’s was on the fifth, and Hill’s was on the sixth.
Zelir had originally wanted the sixth-floor room.
However, Hill seemed to like high places too, so Zelir had let her have it.
The sixth floor was the top level of the giant treehouse known as the Heart of the Emerald Residence.
Its structure was completely different from the floors below.
There was no common hallway, only suspended wooden bridges leading to each room.
Through the huge, adjacent windowpanes, you could look out over most of Sengu Town with a completely unobstructed, superb view.
Zelir knocked on Hill’s door.
"Hill, are you in there?"
