Chapter 309: Chapter 291: Confession (Part 3)
A sudden kiss interrupted their conversation in the cold wind.
This was no illusory touch, but a real, tangible kiss.
The scent, the touch, the warmth—everything was perfectly, vividly clear.
It felt like fireworks exploding in her head.
Then, an indescribable joy spread through her entire body, making even her fingertips tingle with excitement.
In that second, nothing mattered besides the person before her.
First came excitement, then a hazy feeling, as if she were floating on a cloud.
It was as if she had finally obtained something she had longed for, as if some void in her heart had finally been filled.
With a moment like this, life held no more regrets.
The setting sun finally left the Lake Heart Pavilion, slipping completely past the eaves as the gentle night slowly descended.
Their lips parted, but they did not pull away.
Zelir cupped Bev’s blushing cheeks in his hands, his thumbs caressing her skin with a lingering fondness.
Bev’s delicate frame trembled slightly, her eyes half-closed. Her small hands unconsciously clenched the fabric of Zelir’s shirt.
By the end, the kiss had softened into a deeply affectionate intimacy.
Both were greedily taking in the other’s presence.
They could both feel the beating of the other’s heart in their chest.
It was the most passionate, and the most sincere, expression of their feelings.
After a long moment, Zelir and Bev slowly separated, the enchanting, lingering scent still hovering between them.
Bev’s legs seemed to have lost all their strength during the kiss.
She stumbled and quickly wrapped her arms around Zelir’s waist to keep from falling.
This small, embarrassing moment made her already crimson cheeks burn even hotter.
"You... you’re so bad!"
Bev pouted. "Why... why so suddenly!"
"Because Bev is just too cute."
Zelir smiled. "I couldn’t help myself."
"Hmph... You coward."
Bev lightly poked the tip of Zelir’s nose. "You just had to be a little more honest last night, you know."
’Yeah...’
’If only I’d been more honest last night.’
’I was the one too scared of the ending to move forward.’
But he was wrong.
As long as he didn’t lose himself in this sweet bliss, he could avoid that destructive end.
And Bev wasn’t an unreasonable girl; her love was accepting and understanding.
’I was just overthinking things...’
His gaze met Bev’s clear eyes, and Zelir leaned in again, planting a restrained kiss on her forehead.
"Mmm..."
Feeling the warmth on her forehead, Bev was like a cat being petted.
She gently nuzzled against Zelir’s chest, found the most comfortable spot, and buried her face deep into it.
The two of them nestled together in the Lake Heart Pavilion, enjoying the beautiful, quiet moment.
They remained like that for a long while.
"Oh, by the way, Bev."
Zelir suddenly spoke up. "There’s something I wanted to tell you."
"Hmm?"
Bev lazily lifted her head from his chest, the blissful smile still lingering in her eyes.
"What is it? If you’re asking me out on a date, I’ll have to think about it."
"That’s not it..."
Zelir scratched his head and explained everything in detail.
...
"THUD, THUD, THUD..."
Bev repeatedly attacked Zelir’s chest with her head, her tone full of indignation.
"Ahhhhh, why do you have to go on a long trip right after we finally got together!"
"I can’t help it..."
Zelir withstood Bev’s powerless headbutts. "It’s because a heavy snow is about to hit Black Stone Town..."
"Once that happens, there won’t be any jobs to take. I can’t just waste a month or two waiting around here."
