My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 440: Unstoppable Advance

"Everyone, let’s go." Duran gave the signal to march out of Stoneguard Fortress for the third time.

This time, everyone in the army, except for those still injured from the previous clashes, set out to challenge the Borderlands once more.

The Royal Inquisitor and the Royal Guards were also present, showing their support for this campaign.

The soldiers looked more determined than ever, ready to follow the orders of their two generals.

With General Duran personally taking the lead and General Vogel at the center of the formation, a different kind of tension enveloped the Britannian Army.

Marco and Dominic were at the very rear of the formation, taking care of the supply wagons for the entire army.

They no longer sent out any scouts, knowing that doing so would just be sending them to their deaths.

Vogel attested that the Aslan Tribe had an archer whose ranged attacks far surpassed his own.

Since that was the case, they decided to take a head-on approach in this matter.

"It looks like these two are really taking things seriously," Dominic muttered.

He was familiar with their current formation. Every time it had been used, Duran and Vogel successfully pushed back the enemy on the battlefield.

Also, their Elite Soldiers, who, by Daedalus’ standards, were all Rank 4, were right beside their generals.

This was a special battle formation that ensured both offense and defense. There was a reason why the King had chosen the Black Tortoise General and the Vermilion Bird General to take charge of the campaign.

Their combination was the deadliest among the four generals of the Kingdom of Britannia.

After traveling unhindered for nearly six miles, Vogel suddenly raised his bow and fired an arrow.

This arrow burst out and transformed into five beams of light, clashing against the five arrows Otto had unleashed from a distance.

The moment Vogel unleashed his attack, Duran patted the chest of his full plate armor.

Then, from within his armor, twelve black orbs shot out in front of him and transformed into spinning shells.

They were artifacts that were specially made by the best blacksmith and alchemist of the Kingdom of Britannia.

Each of these shells was the size of an adult man, boasting great defensive abilities. But it didn’t end there.

The surface of each shell was covered in irregular, angled plates, deliberately designed to create multiple points of deflection.

Rather than presenting a flat surface for incoming projectiles to strike, the armor forced them to strike at different angles, making it extremely difficult for anything to penetrate.

The shells’ defensive properties were not limited to just that.

The moment they began spinning, they also generated a magical field that deflected projectiles the instant they came within two meters of their surface.

Even attacks with tremendous penetrating power would struggle to break through them.

The shells would either block the impact outright or redirect the projectile with their constantly shifting angled surfaces, causing it to redirected or bounce harmlessly away.

And what really made these twelve spinning shells a headache for ranged attackers was the fact that they automatically moved around to deflect attacks, removing the need for Duran to manually control them!

In short, it was the ultimate defensive artifact that stood at the peak of Britannia’s weapon technology.

The only downside was that the materials used for this were extremely rare, so they only managed to produce twelve of them.

But a dozen were more than enough to deflect attacks aimed in their direction.

Otto, who had been sniping the enemies from a distance, frowned.

He had already used both his bow and the Skybreaker Ballista, yet none of his shots reached his target no matter what he did.

"The enemies are continuously advancing," Vlad reported. "They’re completely unaffected by Otto’s relentless barrage."

"So they’ve really come prepared this time," Leone said calmly. "Brent, Astravor, and Lord Azar, I’m counting on you guys."

"Yes, Great Chieftain," Brent replied.

"Mmm." Astravor nodded.

"Leave it to me." Lord Azar smirked before making their move to execute Plan B.

The plan was simple. They would simply replicate what they did yesterday.

Brent and his Pteranodon Tyrant led the charge by flying high above the effective strike range of the archers on the ground.

Even Vogel couldn’t reach them at this height.

After flying for a few minutes, they all dropped the wooden barrels they were carrying in their talons.

These barrels were the same ones that they had used to incapacitate the magic users of the Britannian Army.

General Duran and General Vogel watched these falling barrels, then sneered at the same time.

"Wind Mages, get ready!" Vogel ordered as he pulled the string of his bow. A moment later, three magical arrows manifested as soon as he pulled the string to its limit.

Without even batting an eye, he unleashed these three arrows, which immediately exploded into hundreds of beams of light.

The barrels were instantly obliterated as their contents burst out from within.

"Now!" Vogel ordered.

The wind mages all unleashed powerful gusts of wind that blew away the purple mist that was descending onto them, blasting them away from the army.

Brent and the Pteranodon Riders weren’t too disheartened by the counter to their aerial bombardment.

They simply returned to Lord Azar’s side and ordered their Pteranodons to pick up the boulders the Earth Dragon had created.

"Let’s see if you can still block this!" Brent raised his hand as he and his aerial squadron positioned themselves right above the Britannian Army. "Fire in the hole!"

At his command, the Pteranodons dropped the boulders from a great height.

They didn’t believe that their enemies could counter these deadly attacks from the sky.

In response, Vogel calmly unleashed a barrage that obliterated the boulders from the sky.

Although it was outside ‌his strike range, his arrows could continue their flight for up to two miles before losing momentum.

However, Vogel’s special attack was turning the magical arrows into countless beams of light that obliterated everything they hit.

Although aim was important, with the sheer number of light arrows shot to the sky, a portion of them were bound to hit some of the boulders falling from the sky.

These arrows broke apart the boulders into smaller rocks, while the rest was dealt with by the mages of the Britannian Army.

A magical barrier then manifested to cover the entire army, shielding them from the falling debris.

Since the boulders were broken by the light arrows, they simply bounced off the magical shield that could withstand incredibly strong attacks.

The moment the threat was gone, the shield dispersed right away, allowing the soldiers to breathe a little easier.

Suddenly, one of them started to cheer.

"All Hail Britannia!"

This cry, which came from the heart of someone who had been depressed for the past two days, stirred the emotions of everyone around him.

Soon, this spread across the entire army. Before long, shouts proclaiming the might of their kingdom reverberated across the surroundings.

"""All Hail Britannia!"""

"""All Hail Britannia!"""

"""All Hail Britannia!"""

From afar, Leone looked at this army with a calm expression. It was as if he had already expected something like this to happen.

But, unlike him, the members of the Aslan Tribe looked a little anxious. What worked last time could no longer hinder the Britannian Army’s advance.

"That’s enough," Leone ordered. "Pull back and prepare to execute Plan C."

The Pteranodon Riders, Astravor, and Lord Azar returned to Leone’s side.

They really thought that their strategy would push their enemy back again. However, it had failed. Continuing to use this method would simply tire the members of the Aslan Tribe and lower their morale.

Since that was the case, Leone decided to use Plan C.

A plan that Lord Azar had executed during the past two days, which made the latter complain to Leone due to its difficulty.
