My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 403: The Arrogant Representative

  • Next Chapter

Leone couldn’t possibly guess why he’d receive such a hostile gaze from someone he had never even met, so he shifted his attention toward the person in question.

As expected, it wasn’t a familiar face.

By the looks of it, the glaring man was in his early twenties. One glance was enough to tell that he must be special, for the presence he exuded easily set him apart from the rest.

Sensing his hostility, Jason stood between him and Leone, while Ulric and Kael also took on a fighting stance.

"Which tribe do you belong to?" the man unleashing the killing intent asked. "I haven’t seen any of you before here in the dungeon."

"We are from the Aslan Tribe," Jason replied.

"The Aslan Tribe?" The young man frowned. "Ah... that upstart tribe I have been hearing about as of late. I heard their chieftain is a weakling."

The other warriors of the Grimhowl Tribe laughed at those words. Their lack of respect showed they didn’t think too highly of the Aslan Tribe.

Since they had been in Eden for many years, anyone outside the high-ranking tribes was beneath their notice.

Jason felt angry at the warriors’ contempt for their tribe. However, before he could do anything, he felt someone rest his hand on his shoulder.

"Ignore them, Jason," Leone said. "Let’s go."

Without even glancing at the warriors of the Grimhowl Tribe, Leone walked toward the entrance.

Jason and the rest were about to follow, but the young man from earlier suddenly appeared in front of Leone, barring his path to the exit.

"Who gave you permission to leave?" the young man asked.

At his words, his companions formed a circle around Leone’s group, making sure they couldn’t go anywhere.

But just before things could take a turn for the worse, someone entered the dungeon and noticed the commotion.

"What do you think you’re doing, Zorren?"

When the young man and his companions heard the voice, they immediately looked in the direction of the entrance.

There, the Great Shaman of the Borderlands, Gundar, stood with narrowed eyes.

"Great Shaman, we’re just interrogating some suspicious people," Zorren replied with a smile. "This is my first time seeing them, so I thought they had nefarious intentions."

"Great Uncle, this person bullied me." Leone was quick to use the ’Great Uncle’ card to get back at the arrogant bastard who was trying to look for trouble. "We’ve already declared ourselves as the Aslan Tribe. He also said I’m a weakling. They even laughed."

The smile on Zorren’s face disappeared the moment he heard the words "Great Uncle" leave Leone’s lips.

Also, when the young man said that Zorren called him a weakling, realization soon dawned upon him.

"So you’re the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe, Leone Frontera." Zorren eyed Leone from head to toe as if trying to see what was so special about him.

"Yes." Leone raised his chin arrogantly. "I am the weakling that you mentioned earlier."

Zorren smirked. After assessing the young chieftain, he believed that his earlier statement wasn’t wrong.

"But you are weak," Zorren repeated without even backing down. "You’re even weaker than I expected, and you still call yourself a chieftain?"

"Zorren!" Gundar’s voice boomed like thunder, making the warriors flinch in response.

Even Zorren hadn’t expected their great shaman to shout at him just because he looked down on the weak chieftain of the Aslan Tribe.

"Apologize to the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe," Gundar stated. "Regardless of your status in the Grimhowl Tribe, he is still a chieftain of the Borderlands."

Zorren frowned before clicking his tongue. "Let’s go."

He didn’t apologize to Leone. Hagen had taught him that he shouldn’t kneel or apologize to anyone aside from the Chieftains and Elders of the high-ranking tribes.

Clueless that the Aslan Tribe had already been promoted to a high-ranking tribe, he ignored Gundar’s statement, treating Leone as someone unimportant.

"See you later, suckers." Zorren scoffed as he and his party were teleported to the 40th floor of the dungeon.

The great shaman heaved a deep sigh before looking at Leone with a wry smile.

"Please forgive his arrogant attitude," Gundar said. "Hagen spoiled him and treated him like his own son. That’s why he acts like that. He thinks he is above those in the same age group as him."

"It’s fine, Great Uncle," Leone replied. "He’s just a frog in the well and hasn’t seen the world yet."

"That he is." Gundar nodded. "But it’s good that you met him sooner, Leone. Zorren is actually the Grimhowl Tribe’s representative in the tournament. Despite his looks, he is incredibly strong."

"Oh?" Leone arched an eyebrow as he asked Daedalus to show Zorren’s status page.

—————

[Zorren]

Race: Fenrir Hybrid (Half Human, Half Fenrir)

Strength: 241

Agility: 156

Dexterity: 220

Vitality: 256

Intelligence: 184

Signature Skill: Beast Transformation

—————

Seeing his status page, Leone understood why Zorren acted so arrogantly.

Based on his race and signature skill, the arrogant young man’s stats could obviously increase drastically after transforming into his Fenrir form.

’He might actually be stronger than Jason,’ Leone thought. ’But Jason is faster than him.’

’If his Beast Transformation boosts his stats, then it will likely boost his Agility stat as well,’ Daedalus commented. ’If that happens, he will have an edge against Jason stat-wise. However, stats aren’t everything in a one-on-one battle.’

Leone agreed with the grimoire’s statement.

Stats weren’t everything, but it was still a clear indicator of the strength of the representative of the Grimhowl Tribe.

’I see,’ Leone mused. ’So that’s why Hagen agreed when Godwin proposed that the champion’s tribe chieftain be the Barbarian King.’

’Indeed.’ Daedalus agreed. ’This makes me wonder about the strength of the representative of the Warclaw Tribe.’

Since Godwin was the one who had initiated the proposal, it meant that he, too, was confident that his representative could become the champion of this year’s tournament.

Jason remained calm as he stood by Leone’s side.

A glance was enough for him to sense Zorren’s strength.

However, he wasn’t fazed by his demeanor.

In fact, now that he knew that he was one of his opponents, Jason made a vow that if an opportunity presented itself, he would make sure that Zorren would regret insulting his Great Chieftain, whom he respected the most, second only to his father.

In order to prevent any more trouble from arising, Gundar decided to escort Leone back to the fortress.

—————

Somewhere on the 40th floor...

"Do you think the Aslan Tribe will send a representative to the tournament?" one of the warriors in Zorren’s team asked.

"They probably will," another warrior replied. "But aside from the high-ranking tribes, they won’t stand a chance."

"You’re wrong," the third warrior commented. "None of them will stand a chance. Isn’t that right, Zorren?"

"Exactly." Zorren grinned evilly. "I don’t care who the Aslan Tribe sends in the tournament. I will make sure to kill them in front of that bastard who dared to call our great shaman his great uncle."

Zorren was someone who liked praise and attention. He was a vain person who liked to be validated by powerful people, and Gundar was on top of his list.

He had always wished for the great shaman to praise him. However, now that he had insulted the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe, the chances of Gundar having a good impression of him had hit rock bottom.

’Just you wait, Aslan Tribe.’ Zorren sneered. ’I’ll make you all understand how helpless your tribe really is.’

For a brief moment, he recalled the face of the young man that stood between him and Leone earlier.

If Gundar hadn’t arrived in time, he would have already used his claws to mutilate Jason’s handsome face.

While Zorren was also good-looking in his own right, Jason and Leone were still a level above him.

And that was more than enough to piss him off, which was why he had unleashed killing intent against the young man earlier, whom he didn’t recognize as the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe.
