Chapter 362: People Inside The Weapon
Tera’s kitchen stove opened onto a cultivation drain while three children ate beside it.
Black water climbed through the burner holes. The flame remained blue above it. A tray number pressed outward under the wall plaster and pulled every spoon toward Meva Tal’s laboratory shift.
Tera closed the gas locally.
The stove kept burning.
Its flame now belonged to a command line older than the house.
Rina asked for current functions before anyone cut.
The kitchen fed seven residents. Its wall carried the school water pipe. The tray number also controlled Culture Stop Nineteen, one of six old valves keeping black growth out of Pump Nineteen’s remaining delivery route.
Destroying the command tile would remove one weapon relation.
It could also open the pump route to Black Grass and cut water from seven people.
At Hesh Roof, the laboratory beam under three residents carried four sleeping mats and one tank support. Burning or dropping the beam would release one route-body rib and collapse a current roof section.
Kiln Steps found tray numbers inside 211 water jars. Families had used fired laboratory clay for generations. Breaking all marked jars would leave less than six hours of water after the main line loss.
Nemi’s hand carried the old maintenance collar through current nerves.
Surgery could remove the visible mark and no surgeon could promise the command ended at its edge.
Meva and Beni inspected their own shift records. Worker housing, culture drains, and food lines had been built inside the laboratory maintenance plan. Their current bodies used doors that also opened tray stops.
The weapon had become ordinary infrastructure before the city shields closed.
Current descendants had repaired and reused it because it carried water and roofs. It also carried heat and roads.
Four hundred twelve wall seats requested destruction of the culture beds.
Vela Basin supplied current recoil pressure rising behind its salt wall. Orra Gate reported black blades testing its open west arch. Kitt Harbor’s bells carried impacts into consenting households.
The seats had functional reasons to want the weapon gone.
Vela Basin tested destruction on Tray Twelve after Meva verified no worker inside its current laboratory view. The salt wall crushed the tray relation. One black growth stopped at Vela’s outer shield.
Tray Twelve’s command pressure returned through a market oven built from its brick. Dena’s food stall opened onto Vela salt with a cook beside it.
Market keepers released the oven from current heat and pulled the cook clear. The stall lost its only working fire.
The damaged stall remained cold afterward.
Destroying one empty culture bed had protected Vela and damaged a current target home through reused material.
Residents behind them sent separate positions.
Orra’s outer south supported cutting cultivation command and rejected a shot through target homes. Kitt households offered limited shield shares for a separation test. Vela’s Seated Basin accepted no resident veto over external weapon destruction, while three household blocks filed refusals.
Tera addressed the field groups.
"State what you keep before you tell us what to cut."
Her school kept current water delivery and the twenty-three children’s roof routes.
Dena’s market kept current people, food stalls, and the mirror line to Rilo.
Nemi kept her current hand and the right to stop using it as pump support.
Abeni Kalu kept Kiln Steps household water and local clay frames.
Hesh kept occupied roofs and current treatment routes.
Meva kept worker bodies, current doors, and the tray drain needed to stop immediate flooding.
No group offered itself as a single target population.
They tested material removal before selecting an occupied house.
Hesh cut a marked splinter from an empty roof beam. The splinter lost its culture stamp. The full beam also lost its relation to the neighboring support and dropped one end through an unoccupied sleeping mat.
Kiln Steps ground the tray number off an empty jar. The jar kept its clay body and sent every drop of current water into Meva’s laboratory wash trough.
Firing a new unmarked jar worked as current storage. The settlement lacked fuel and time to replace 211 marked vessels during active attack.
Command could be separated. Existing functions paid during each cut.
They selected Tera’s kitchen for the first bounded separation.
Seven residents moved into the adjacent room under a local household route. They chose to keep food, water pipe, and current house entry. The stove could be lost.
The residents included two children from the school roof, an older cook, and four water carriers sleeping near the delivery line. The cook accepted cold food until another heat source arrived. One carrier wanted to keep the stove because boiled water had prevented illness after the cistern fell.
They accepted the test only after North Pump committed sealed drinking bags if the pipe failed.
Bay Twelve’s pump pin took the water function.
South Ward’s hinge took current house passage under Tera and an exterior keeper.
Canal’s charcoal circle marked current bodies and no salvage.
Culture Stop Nineteen remained outside all three functions.
Meva located its far command lever in her laboratory shift. Tera found the tray tile behind the stove. Their cuts could not share a clock.
Tera would break the tile after her local pipe ran clear.
Meva would release the command lever after the black tray water fell below a period mark.
Both could stop independently.
The test began.
Bay Twelve’s pin held the water pipe. Clear water reached one cup in the adjacent room. The stove flame bent toward the tray tile and turned black at its base.
Meva opened the far drain.
Culture water fell.
The route body pressed its Cairo hand over the laboratory roof. Beni held the drain with his uninjured arm while Meva watched the period mark.
At Tera’s house, the tray tile pulled free of the wall before she touched it.
It tried to enter Nemi’s maintenance collar.
Nemi stepped inside Canal’s current-body circle. The tile struck the charcoal edge and fell onto the kitchen floor.
The impact dragged her injured hand toward Meva’s drain. Rilo caught Nemi above the wrist and asked whether she wanted his hold.
"Current hold. Release when the tile falls."
Rilo held until the charcoal circle separated body from command material. He released before Nemi’s arm became a new pump lever.
Tera’s pipe ran clear.
She broke the tile with a stove brick.
Meva released the far lever after her mark passed.
The kitchen stove went out.
South Ward’s hinge kept the house door current. Bay Twelve’s pin kept water moving. All seven residents returned under separate current answers.
The house retained entry and water.
It lost cooking heat and Culture Stop Nineteen.
Black Grass entered Pump Nineteen’s delivery trench through the released stop.
Tera’s school had five culture stops left.
Local trench keepers closed one water branch and kept delivered North Pump bags outside the cultivation line. The first keeper suffered a route cut across his calf when Stop Nineteen’s old pressure returned.
Treatment stayed at the school. The trench branch stayed closed. Residents kept forty-one sealed bags and no working stove.
The test preserved one household and weakened a defense used by the whole school group.
The broken tile did not become dead material.
Its pieces slid across the kitchen floor toward the open service lane. Hesh’s released roof splinters moved with them. Clay dust rose from cracked Kiln Steps jars. Meva’s discarded apron pulled out of Cairo evidence storage.
Each piece had been rejected as command or salvage.
The route body gathered them.
Thirty-one limbs folded toward the origin field.
Tile, beam, clay, and cloth joined around a current cultivation frame.
The rejected command material stood above Tera’s school on legs from several eras.
Its head occupied Twelve Wells’ hospital lift.
Its right hand closed around Cairo.
