Elara’s right arm struck six times, paused, and struck four.

Her fist hit the frame rail on every downward beat.

Kikaru put no hand on it.

"Current movement?"

"Not mine. Do not stop it by force."

Reva held the future sling in the medicine archive. Its empty fabric worked the same kiln rhythm, pulling her shoulders forward with each strike.

The Low Rill charcoal drum repeated the six-four shift call.

Sefa stopped the drum.

Elara’s arm continued.

The rhythm had entered the support route. Silence did not remove it.

Room Nine offered assignment again.

```
LABOR UNIT ACTIVE.
REGISTER SUPERVISING FAMILY TO PREVENT INJURY.
```

The arm was bruising Elara’s current hand against the frame.

Fast registration could stop it.

"No family," Elara said.

Pela held the breathing valve. Elara accepted one assisted breath during the pause after strike six and refused pressure during the four faster beats. Her airway rhythm remained separate from the arm’s work.

Kikaru asked for contact at her shoulder.

"Purpose?"

"Keep the joint in your current socket. No movement."

"Left palm above the joint. Two fingers of pressure."

He placed his hand where she named.

The next six strikes moved the forearm. The shoulder stayed in place.

At the archive, Reva asked to hold the sling wrist.

"Purpose?" Elara asked through the field line.

"Keep the displaced hand from completing kiln labor. No return pull. One rhythm only."

"Accepted. Release after four."

Reva caught the sling wrist after strike six. The empty fabric hammered against her palm four times. She released.

The next rhythm began.

Current holds had limited damage. They had not joined arm and body.

Rina mapped the load.

Elara’s visible shoulder occupied Post Four.

The displaced hand occupied the future sling.

The six-four motion originated in Low Rill’s stored kiln shift.

The ministry ledger assigned all three to Room Nine as one labor unit.

"We need a midpoint that belongs to none of them," Kestrel said.

Caleb remained in Cairo beside the four removed plates.

Kestrel held the Post Seven shoulder plate under two pin keepers. Reva held no silver and controlled no crossing.

They made separate requests.

Kestrel asked the plate to hold force between Elara’s current shoulder and no destination.

Reva asked for force between the displaced sling and no family assignment.

The overlap was an open midpoint.

Caleb accepted force only.

He placed his left hand over the empty shoulder groove where Kestrel’s plate had been cut. Silver pressure entered the separated piece in Night Ground.

An open brace appeared between Post Four and the medicine archive.

It touched neither Elara nor the sling.

The six-four load struck the brace.

Caleb’s left arm moved in Cairo.

He let the motion reach the open shoulder groove and stopped it before his hand formed a fist. The kiln rhythm had no destination in his body.

Each impact changed his balance.

The missing calf plate made his right heel report level late. On strike four, his knee hit the table. He moved no additional silver toward his leg because stabilizing himself through the same route could give the kiln rhythm a complete body.

Two Cairo workers put a plain chair behind him after asking. Caleb accepted the seat as current furniture and no support route. He remained seated for the next rhythm.

"Current pain?" Elara asked him.

"Shoulder groove. Left elbow. No hand movement."

"You can release."

"So can both keepers."

Kestrel and Reva kept their requests.

Elara selected the next action.

"Kikaru, support shoulder in current socket. Reva, support sling wrist through one full rhythm. Caleb, midpoint holds load and no direction. I move my thumb once after the pause."

Each person repeated their part without matching her whole sentence.

Six strikes reached the open brace.

Four followed.

Elara moved her thumb.

The visible thumb creased Kikaru’s cloth.

The future sling did not move.

One current motion had remained with her body.

"Again," Elara said.

The second thumb movement reached both visible hand and sling.

"Stop. That one crossed."

The crossed movement reopened the future blood stain on the separated strap. A thin red line appeared without a current cut on Elara.

Iseul sealed the stain and made them wait through one full clock band. Elara’s wrist temperature fell another degree while no test moved.

Speed could preserve the arm. Repeated testing could also teach Room Nine to join body and labor more efficiently.

Reva released. Kestrel kept midpoint force. Kikaru maintained shoulder contact under the same local purpose.

Elara waited through the involuntary rhythm and selected her thumb only after every beat ended.

The visible thumb moved.

The sling remained still.

Rina marked a current body relation from shoulder to thumb that excluded the future labor route.

They extended it one joint at a time.

Thumb.

Index finger.

The middle finger moved in the sling first. They rejected that route and waited.

On the next test, Elara’s index finger bent before she selected it. They rejected that too.

Current movement required her selection after the labor rhythm, visible motion in her body first, and no matching movement in the sling.

Wrist.

The first wrist turn pulled Reva toward the archive door. The midpoint had gained direction. Kestrel released her plate immediately. Caleb’s shoulder groove opened under the lost force, but the pull ended before it reached Elara.

They rewrote the request and started again with no named side of the wrist.

Elbow.

The right arm took weight on Kikaru’s pad for the first time since the reset.

Reva’s sling dropped from eleven kilograms to one.

The final kilogram carried the healed future injury and four clock bands of forced work. Elara refused to pull it into her body.

"Cut the last route at the sling," she said.

Reva used two local shears. The future strap separated around empty weight.

The remaining kilogram fell into a sand tray and formed a handprint with no hand.

Sefa labeled it route evidence, not body.

Kestrel released the midpoint.

Caleb’s removed plate went cold.

Elara’s arm stayed with her.

It did not return unchanged.

Kikaru removed his palm from the shoulder after asking. The joint slid two centimeters and stopped against the frame pad. Elara could not raise it back.

Pela placed a metal spoon in her right palm.

Elara closed thumb and index finger around the handle. The spoon rolled out before she could lift it. She tried once more, failed at the same height, and asked Pela to put it away.

With her left hand, she adjusted the right support sling to a pressure she chose.

Her thumb moved. Her index finger bent halfway. The other fingers did not close. The shoulder could hold against Kikaru’s pad for five seconds before sliding.

Iseul found nerve response and permanent loss she could not yet measure.

"Possible improvement with rehabilitation," Iseul said. "Possible fixed loss. The route injury adds a timing component I cannot predict."

"Write all three."

Iseul wrote current function, possible improvement, and possible permanent loss without choosing the hopeful line as prognosis.

Elara accepted the report and no promise of full recovery.

She rewrote the field protocol on paper.

```
SUPPORT NAMES CURRENT BODY AND CURRENT FUNCTION.
SUPPORT EXPIRES.
NO FAMILY ASSIGNMENT BY EMERGENCY.
INVOLUNTARY MOVEMENT IS EVIDENCE, NOT DIRECTION.
RETURN LOAD CHECKS FOR AN OUTSIDE RECEIVER.
ONE USE DOES NOT AUTHORIZE THE NEXT.
```

Reva added:

```
SAVED FUNCTION DOES NOT CREATE PERMANENT STAFF.
```

Pela added:

```
CARE MAY CONTINUE AFTER RELEASE STARTS.
CARE MAY NOT CANCEL RELEASE.
```

The protocol did not repair Elara’s fingers or Reva’s staffing debt. It changed the next frame.

Reva’s one-band hold expired. She released with no replacement family. The medicine ledger marked the shift unfilled and issued a staffing warning.

No arm fell. No patient lost support. The empty shift remained visible as capacity Night Ground would need to solve with current people or equipment.

Room Nine removed `SUPPORTED ATTENDEE ASSET` from Elara’s arm.

It replaced the field with:

```
CURRENT ATTENDEE BODY VERIFIED.
HEARING ACCESS AVAILABLE.
```

Inside the medicine archive, the wall split along a line no Night Ground door keeper owned.

Morning light entered through the opening.

Beyond it stood forty separate hearing desks.

The Woman’s private venue had opened inside Night Ground.
