My Kaiju Parasite Revived Me, But a Yandere Bought My Streaming Rights
Chapter 269: Five Seconds
Zero opened the white corridor.
The false passage gained depth.
Cold air crossed Annex Four carrying river smoke, rain, and Elara’s blood.
She stood at the other end.
Not an image.
Rain fell from her field coat onto a floor beneath the river. The black strip at her throat entered the right metal hand as a cable of white pressure. Her left wrist carried a fresh burn from the shaped rifle.
Two more Elaras appeared behind her.
One wore a clean coat. One had Lio’s blue-thread card tied around her throat. Both raised their right hands when the leash-side palm moved.
The outside respondent had learned her face from the Gannet feeds and her harm from the tunnel.
Rina kept the red ring closed.
"Local detail."
Caleb looked at all three.
The clean copy had no rain below its shoulders. The copy wearing Lio’s card showed his coupling counts on the front, though he had written them on the back.
The middle Elara had tea on her breath from the eighteen-second pause. A pale line crossed her right palm where the copper chip had rested at Aldgate. Her left boot carried white route paint from Gannet’s flooded platform.
"Middle," Caleb said. "Unknown word still unknown."
The other two smiled.
Elara did not.
The copies put their hands against the corridor walls and tried to widen it. Their fingers repeated at identical angles. Elara’s burned left wrist held closer to her body.
Rina marked her as locally verified.
Behind her, the outside coast showed through a split in distance.
Black water ran uphill.
One tall shape waited at the waterline.
Its raised arm matched the open palm around Elara’s leash.
Aren’s call box cracked.
"The learned address has reached local time. Close the seam."
Caleb held both metal hands apart. Their pressure had driven him to one knee. Silver filled the empty bolt holes around his legs.
The red release ring hung beyond his reach.
Rina had its cable around Pela’s axe. Pela, Sefa, Kikaru, and Iharu pulled. The ring had moved half an inch and stopped.
The Annex clock waited at `05.1`.
Stored power had opened the release but had not completed it.
The team prepared for what happened after the window.
Sefa looped a plain cloth around the red cable so he could hold it without touching Elara’s ordered hand. Pela wedged the broken axe head beneath the hollow-center palm. Kikaru used his snapped blade to pin the iron frame’s left bolt hole. Iharu tied Rina’s torn paper roll around his forearms for grip.
Nobody assigned Caleb a place.
He asked Elara through the closed corridor.
"If you cross, do you want me between the hands?"
The real Elara changed pressure against her injured boot. White paint left one short mark on the floor.
Kim’s last known filter rule classified the unrequired pressure as correction.
One mark meant yes.
Caleb knelt between the palms by her answer.
Tali stood at the manual lever. The clinic remained powered to her right. Annex charge flickered to her left.
"One pull," she said. "Then the coil is empty."
Soma answered through Aren’s line.
"When it opens, Elara’s destination control drops. The corridor may place her in the chamber. Five-point-one seconds."
"May?"
"The old manual never tested an outside coast."
The shape at the waterline took one step.
Its foot arrived on the Annex side before it left the beach.
Caleb’s right arm bent.
The leash-side hand moved closer to the hollow-center hand.
"Pull," he said.
Tali pulled the Annex lever once and let it return to the clinic.
The old coil discharged.
Pela’s axe handle snapped.
The red ring came free.
```
```
Elara crossed the white corridor in one step.
Distance folded behind her.
Her boot struck the Annex floor hard enough to split tile. The corridor narrowed to the width of her shoulders. The outside shape lost one arm behind the closing edge.
The black strip fell loose at Elara’s throat.
Her first breath belonged to her.
She used it on Caleb.
"Work first."
```
```
He stayed on one knee between the metal hands.
"Your direction?"
Elara gripped the red release cable.
"Break breath lock. Keep proof. No seat."
```
03.2
```
"You?"
"Later."
She pulled the ring cable through the leash-side palm. Metal opened around a smaller black line buried inside the conduit.
The line ran into her throat.
The Woman had built the breathing lock through the manual release. Cutting it would free local breath and expose the larger motor leash.
```
02.1
```
Caleb looked at her hand.
"Touch?"
"Mouth. Yes."
Elara caught his jaw and kissed him.
No camera found a useful angle. Pela’s broken axe blocked one side. Rina’s torn paper roll crossed the other. Caleb tasted rain and blood and the tea Elara must have stolen hours ago.
The kiss carried no proof beyond the two people inside it.
That was enough for them and useless to the chair.
She ended the kiss.
Her thumb left his lower lip before the clock reached one.
```
00.8
```
"Me later," she said again.
She put Caleb’s left hand on the red ring.
Then she let go.
```
00.0
```
The leash returned.
Elara’s right hand opened toward Caleb.
Her body took one step.
The order printed across the loose black strip.
```
CLOSE RIGHT HAND
AROUND CENTER CANDIDATE.
```
Caleb moved his hand from the ring.
The breathing lock began closing again.
Elara’s left hand still held no order.
It struck the release cable against the floor once.
Direction.
Ring first.
Caleb wrapped silver around the black breathing line and pulled.
The line tightened inside Elara’s throat.
She stopped breathing.
Her right hand kept moving toward his.
Sefa took her left wrist only after asking.
"One tap yes for hold."
Her finger struck his palm once.
He held the unordered wrist away from the circuit.
Rina read the correction filter from memory because the paper route was gone.
"Right hand supplied. Left pressure local. Breath supplied. Eyes local."
Elara looked at Caleb.
He could tear the line. The pull would damage the leash and whatever tissue had grown around it. Her five-second direction had already answered.
Break breath lock.
He pulled harder.
The black line came through the metal palm by one inch.
Blood opened under Elara’s control strip.
Air entered her in a short, ugly gasp.
The depot medic reached them through the wired call box.
"Do not pull past the dark band under her skin. That may be fixed to the airway."
"May?" Pela asked.
"I have a tunnel patient and a paper diagram. Yes, may."
Rina put two fingers near Elara’s throat without touching.
"Breath present. Shallow."
Elara’s left finger tapped Sefa’s palm twice.
Two had never been agreed as a word.
Sefa refused to invent one.
"Two taps unresolved. Give us pressure or aim if you can."
Her left wrist pushed down toward the release ring.
Ring first.
The larger leash reacted.
Every motor order in her body moved into the right hand.
Her shoulder locked. Her elbow straightened. Fingers reached for Caleb with enough force to close the gap across the chamber.
He released the metal hand he had been holding on Kim’s side and put both arms around the leash conduit.
The hollow-center palm snapped inward.
It missed the leash-side palm and closed around the empty iron frame.
The axe head under it broke in two. One piece struck Pela above the eye. She fell against the conduit and kept both hands on the release cable.
Kikaru’s broken blade tore from the bolt hole. Iharu caught the iron frame before it crushed Rina’s ankle.
The frame had no seat, yet the force inside it tried to pull every standing body into one position. Knees turned inward. Shoulders faced Caleb. The room wanted an audience arranged around a center.
Sefa sat on the floor by choice and pulled Elara’s left wrist down with him.
Rina turned her back to Caleb and checked Pela’s bleeding eye.
Iharu faced the wall.
Small body directions made the room worse at drawing one shape.
White pressure poured into the missing seat.
Kim’s burned rights stack returned as a single line on the chamber wall.
```
LOAD TRANSFERRED.
HOLLOW CENTER ACCEPTING BOTH HANDS.
```
The outside coast vanished from the corridor.
The tall shape remained as a shadow inside Kim’s empty chair.
Elara’s right hand stopped one inch from Caleb’s.
The leash pulled.
Kim’s hollow center pulled harder.
