My Home's Ancient Well Connects to the Martial Arts World
Chapter 77: Barking in the Ancestral Home
Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Barking in the Ancestral Home
Sitting cross-legged in meditation, Ye Xing suddenly opened his eyes, staring at the Purple Light Group before him.
’The Purple Light Group is special, but it must be a physical object too. I wonder if I can put it into the Qiankun Bag? If I can, I’ll never have to worry about this cave being exposed and someone discovering the light group again.’
The moment this thought appeared in his mind, Ye Xing became incredibly eager.
The fear of the Purple Light Group being exposed had always plagued Ye Xing; it was his Achilles’ heel. Now that he had thought of a potential solution, he felt a complex mix of joy, excitement, nervousness, and unease.
Theoretically, a Qiankun Bag could hold any object as long as its volume didn’t exceed the bag’s internal space. But the Purple Light Group was a unique entity, and Ye Xing wasn’t sure if it would work.
’I hope this works. It has to work!’ Ye Xing prayed silently. He quickly unfastened the Qiankun Bag from his waist. His Intention moved, and he opened the mouth of the bag, aiming it at the Purple Light Group.
WHOOSH—
In an instant, the air in the cave swirled, and streams of purple energy were pulled into the Qiankun Bag.
A moment later, the Purple Light Group itself began to shift and shrink, and soon, it too vanished into the Qiankun Bag.
"Haha, it actually worked!" Ye Xing was ecstatic. He could clearly sense the Purple Light Group resting within the space inside his Qiankun Bag.
As the Purple Light Group was drawn into the Qiankun Bag, the cave instantly grew dim, and the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi became increasingly sparse.
His Intention moved, and Ye Xing opened the Qiankun Bag once more.
WHOOSH—
Instantly, the air surged and a radiant energy swirled as the Purple Light Group reappeared in the cave. The Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi, which had become thin and sparse, immediately converged around it again, making the inside of the cave incredibly dense with energy once more.
’This is great! It really can be stored in the Qiankun Bag. Now I don’t have to be on pins and needles, worrying about every little thing. Right, a Qiankun Bag contains its own pocket dimension. It’s a shame there’s no air circulation inside; otherwise, I could even store living creatures like Demon Beasts in it.’ Ye Xing put the Qiankun Bag away and sat down cross-legged again beside the Purple Light Group, circulating his Innate Skill to cultivate his Inner Strength.
Although a Qiankun Bag contains its own pocket dimension, Ye Xing’s was only a Lower grade Qiankun Bag, with an internal space about the size of a single room. Even if it were filled to the brim with oxygen, it wouldn’t last long. Furthermore, there was no way for air to circulate within it. If living creatures that need oxygen, like humans or Demon Beasts, were placed inside for too long or accidentally forgotten, they would likely suffocate. It was far too dangerous, which is why almost no one used a Qiankun Bag to transport living beings.
If a Qiankun Bag *could* hold Demon Beasts, though, that would be incredible. It would be like carrying an entire retinue of Demon Beast bodyguards, ready to be released at a critical moment. Ambushing your enemies like that would be immensely satisfying.
HUUUH—
INHALE—
He inhaled slowly, then exhaled slowly. In with the pure, out with the impure.
With each breath, a steady stream of True Qi was generated within him, flowing through his meridians. With every complete Circulation, Ye Xing’s Cultivation grew a little stronger, bringing him one large step closer to the Martial Arts Third Realm.
With the Innate Skill as his Inner Power Manual and the Purple Light Group as a resource far superior to any Pocket World Blessed Land, Ye Xing’s Cultivation speed was advancing by leaps and bounds, further bolstered by his diligent daily training.
Time trickled by. After about five or six shichen, Ye Xing awoke from his meditation. He opened his eyes and glanced at his watch—it was already 8:00 AM.
’A new day has begun. Time to head back to Earth; I haven’t been back in days!’ Ye Xing stretched languidly, then his gaze sharpened, and he stepped into the Purple Light Group Teleportation Gate.
The next moment, his vision went black. The scenery shifted around him, and Ye Xing vanished from the cave. When he reappeared, he was standing in the ancient well of his ancestral home on Earth.
BEEP! BEEP BEEP BEEP!
The moment he materialized in the well of his ancestral home on Earth, his phone began buzzing nonstop with notifications. He figured it was probably a ton of unread messages and missed calls. It was to be expected. After all, he had been away in Sunset City for several days without returning to Earth. His friends and family, the ones he kept in regular contact with, would surely have called to check in, business or not. Before, while he was at the Ye Mansion, he would return to his ancestral home every day or two to check for urgent matters and catch up. But his trip to Sunset City to buy the Qiankun Bag had taken several days. Being away from home, with the Purple Light Group Teleportation Gate stuck in the cave at the White Cloud Mountain Ye Mansion, meant he had no way to return to Earth.
But now that he had a Qiankun Bag that could hold the Purple Light Group, everything would be much easier and more convenient. He could carry the Purple Light Group Teleportation Gate with him, allowing him to return to Earth whenever he pleased.
Ye Xing unfastened the Qiankun Bag from his waist, opened it, and stored the Purple Light Group Teleportation Gate inside. He then pulled his phone from his pocket and swiped the screen to unlock it. Just as he was about to check his messages and missed calls—
WOOF! WOOF WOOF WOOF!
A volley of barks suddenly erupted from above the ancient well. The sound was high-pitched and incessant, like that of a very young puppy.
’Huh? That’s little Erhei’s voice. What’s going on? Did someone break into my ancestral home?’ Ye Xing’s brow furrowed. He circulated his True Qi and kicked off from the bottom of the well.
SWOOSH! He shot upwards, leaping straight out of the mouth of the well in a single bound.
A month ago, he would have needed a wooden ladder to climb out. But now, with his Cultivation greatly advanced, Ye Xing was a Martial Artist of the Martial Arts Second Realm. He could naturally use a Lightweight Skill to leap out of the well with ease.
Over the ancient well, Ye Xing had purpose-built a small iron shed. It was completely sealed, with all four walls and the roof made from heavy Steel Plates, and the iron door was secured with three heavy-duty locks.
On top of that, Ye Xing had also brought little Erhei from the Martial Arts Continent to guard his ancestral home on Earth. This little Erhei was, of course, the black-furred Demon Beast pup. Ye Xing had originally bought two black-furred puppies from the Beast Taming Pavilion, naming them Big Black and Erhei. While at the Ye Mansion, Big Black and two Cyan Wolves had been killed protecting Qiao’Er and Aunt Qiao, slain by You Bin, the Great River Gang Leader whose Cultivation was at the Martial Arts Sixth Realm. As for little Erhei, he had been spared this fate because Ye Xing had sent him to Earth to guard the ancestral home.
There was a reason for all these convoluted precautions—the iron shed, the heavy-duty locks, the Demon Beast guard. Ye Xing was naturally worried about intruders. The ancestral home was filled with nothing but old appliances and worthless junk, so it was unlikely any thief would bother with it. But it was better to be safe than sorry. If a thief did happen to break in and discover the passage in the ancient well, it would be a goddamn disaster.
WOOF! WOOF WOOF WOOF!
little Erhei’s barking continued, which meant the intruder hadn’t left. A glint of killing intent flashed in Ye Xing’s eyes as he swiftly unlocked the iron door and stepped out.
