My Home's Ancient Well Connects to the Martial Arts World
Chapter 135: Fighting
Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Fighting
"Really? I think you should go see it. It’s incredible. The Demon King Competition is the most exciting part of the underground fighting scene, and it’d be a shame to miss it. It’s just for tonight, so it shouldn’t get in the way of your business. Or are you planning to start your deal the second you land in New York?" said Alice.
"Uh, that’s actually... exactly the plan," Ye Xing said. He didn’t want to stay in the United States for too long. After buying the weapons, he planned to head straight back to the Martial Arts Continent.
The plane climbed higher, entering the clouds and beginning its smooth flight.
It was about 10:30 AM BJ Time, still morning. The rising sun hung high in the sky, casting down a myriad of golden rays. The clouds were gilded with a pale golden sheen, an exceptionally beautiful sight.
The plane soared above the clouds, its bright white fuselage reflecting streaks of sunlight. He had to admit, the view of the clouds up close was completely different from looking up at the sky from the ground. The difference was like night and day.
The clouds formed a solid sheet, like a white carpet laid across the sky, stretching to the horizon. Looking down, he felt as if he were in the Celestial Court itself.
In the distance, the clouds billowed and unfurled, shifting into all sorts of shapes—a snake, a person, a tiger, a lion. At times, they resembled ten thousand horses stampeding, a truly spectacular sight.
"How beautiful!" Ye Xing couldn’t help but exclaim.
"Thank you!" Alice’s pretty face flushed as she replied, a little shyly.
"Thanks for what? Uh, I was talking about the clouds!" Ye Xing was so absorbed in admiring the view that the words just slipped out. Since Alice was in the window seat, he naturally had to look past her to see the clouds.
Alice froze for a moment before it dawned on her. Her fair face instantly turned bright red, flushed with embarrassment. She’d thought Ye Xing was complimenting her, but it turned out he was just looking at the clouds. ’How infuriating!’
"Am I not beautiful?" Mortified, Alice shot back indignantly, her large, sky-blue eyes glaring at Ye Xing. As she spoke, she even puffed out her impressive chest.
Her figure was full and curvy in all the right places—incredibly hot. He hadn’t paid much attention before, but now that he took a proper look, she was truly...
"Beautiful. Very beautiful!" Ye Xing gulped and quickly averted his gaze, not daring to look any longer. ’If I keep staring, I’m going to make a fool of myself,’ he thought. ’She’s the kind of knockout who could charm a man to death.’
Seeing Ye Xing’s flustered reaction, Alice gave a soft "hmph," a flicker of triumph in her beautiful eyes. She had finally regained some confidence in her charms, thanks to him.
"By the way, Alice, how is your Chinese so good? I feel like your Mandarin pronunciation is even more standard than a lot of native speakers in China."
Ye Xing decisively changed the subject to cover his embarrassment.
"Because I lived in China for several years! I’m actually of mixed heritage. I’m a quarter Chinese, I think. My maternal grandfather was Chinese!" Alice explained.
The plane glided smoothly above the clouds. The journey from China to the United States was a long one, covering a vast distance.
On the plane, Ye Xing and Alice chatted about everything under the sun. She was a talkative, lively, and outgoing young woman, and the two hit it off, gradually moving from strangers to acquaintances.
After a flight of over twenty hours, the plane finally arrived over New York, United States, approaching the international airport.
The plane began its descent, the entire fuselage tilting downward. Through the window, he could see the ground getting closer and closer, the houses below rapidly growing in size.
A moment later, the plane touched down, speeding along the runway. After covering some distance, its momentum bled off, and it began to slow.
It should have been morning according to BJ Time, but due to the vast distance between the United States and China, there was a thirteen-hour time difference. Here, it was already past seven in the evening.
The night’s Starry Sky was filled with twinkling stars, promising clear weather for the next day.
"Ye Xing, let’s share a taxi!" Alice invited.
"Okay!" Ye Xing nodded, slinging his bag over one shoulder and walking beside Alice.
New York’s international airport was crowded with people coming and going. Most of the travelers were, of course, Americans—black, white, and even ethnic Chinese, all speaking fluent English.
This was Ye Xing’s first time traveling so far from home to a foreign land. The experience felt both novel and a little strange. However, Ye Xing could also speak English. Thankfully, his four years at a top-tier university hadn’t been a waste; his proficiency was quite good.
After leaving the airport, they made their way to the street outside. Traffic flowed endlessly. They both watched the passing cars, looking for a taxi.
While they were waiting for a cab, Ye Xing’s gaze suddenly sharpened. He keenly sensed something approaching. Turning his head, he saw five men storming toward them from an intersection up ahead. The leader was a burly man, about 1.9 meters tall, followed by four cronies. One of them, a black man, was the very same thief Ye Xing had exposed on the airport bus.
"Boss, that’s the kid who screwed things up for me! Teach him a lesson!" the black man snarled, pointing at Ye Xing as he spoke to the burly man beside him.
"Get him!" the 1.9-meter-tall giant roared, and all five men quickly surrounded them.
"What do you want?" Ye Xing demanded, his voice low.
"Heh heh, what do we want? I told you not to stick your nose where it doesn’t belong, but you didn’t listen. You’re just some clueless punk from China who doesn’t know how to keep his head down. You actually dared to meddle in my business. Now that you’re in New York, you’re dead meat," the black man sneered.
"Get him! Beat the shit out of him!" the 1.9-meter-tall giant ordered in English. At his command, the other four men pulled out iron bars, surrounded Ye Xing, and charged with murderous intent.
’So it’s a gang of thugs. Heh. Just five of them think they can take me on? Multiply your numbers by a hundred, and then maybe I’d be a little concerned!’
A cold sneer touched Ye Xing’s lips, and his eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flashing within them. Just as he was about to act, a soft hand landed on his shoulder, patting it reassuringly.
"This group of bastards," she cursed. "Don’t be afraid, Ye Xing. I’ve got this!"
The clear female voice rang out. Alice, standing beside him, tossed her luggage to the ground and charged forward in her high heels.
