Chapter 129: Chapter 129: The Zither’s Ring by the Cliff

High in the sky, white clouds drifted peacefully. The sun bathed them in a pale golden light.

Beneath the blue sky and above the clouds, a crane with feathers as white as snow beat its wings, weaving through the cloud cover.

On the crane’s back rode three exceptionally beautiful women. The one at the forefront was a peerlessly gorgeous woman in snow-white clothes, her face veiled by a light gauze, exuding an air of mystery and nobility. She had an ethereal aura, like a fairy from the heavens. Behind her were two other girls, one in red and one in green. These three were, of course, Tantai Mengxue, Xia Girl, and little Chunyu.

"Miss, we should be close to White Cloud Mountain, right?" the little maid in green asked.

"Yes, it’s not far ahead." The Snow-clothed Woman’s beautiful eyes shimmered as she gazed downward. Beneath her veil, her crimson lips parted slightly. "We’re almost there. Little Bai, don’t fly so high. Lower our altitude."

"Chunyu, you little rascal, why are you so eager to get back to White Cloud Mountain? Are you trying to watch TV again?" the girl in red said.

"Hehe, you saw right through me, Sister Xia," the little maid in green said with a shy smile. "I only got halfway through *The Return of the Condor Heroes* last time. That stinky rogue said there were still a few more episodes, and I really want to see them."

The Wind-Chasing White Crane was incredibly fast, covering dozens of li in an instant. It soon passed over Phoenix Town and continued toward White Cloud Mountain.

"Ah! Miss, Sister Xia, look! There are so many people down there!" little Chunyu said.

"They must be Martial Artists fighting over a Heaven and Earth Spiritual Treasure. I guess Immortal Spring Manor won’t have any peace for a while." The girl in red looked down. As she was speaking, her eyes suddenly widened in astonishment, and she pointed below. "Huh? Look! Isn’t that the stinky rogue?"

"Ah, it really is the stinky rogue!" Little Chunyu also peeked her head over to look down. "Why are so many people trying to kill him?"

"There are several Ninth Realm Martial Artists down there. I’m afraid Ye Xing is in danger." Tantai Mengxue gazed below, her beautiful eyes shimmering with a trace of worry. "Little Bai, quick! Descend immediately!"

"WHOOSH!" "WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!"

A strong wind gusted high in the air as the Wind-Chasing White Crane beat its wings, gliding down toward White Cloud Mountain.

...

On White Cloud Mountain, green trees provided ample shade. The mountain path was flanked by overgrown shrubs and patches of weeds.

Ye Xing rode his Gale Leopard, racing ahead at full speed.

"SWISH!" "SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!"

Behind him, one Martial Artist after another used their Lightweight Body Technique, their murderous aura palpable as they pursued him relentlessly.

"Don’t let him get away!"

"There seems to be a cliff up ahead! Haha, the kid is a dead man."

"Surround him!"

"The cliffs on the summit of White Cloud Mountain are at least several thousand zhang high. Even an Innate Realm expert would be smashed to a pulp if they fell!"

"The kid’s dead for sure. He can’t escape!"

Shouts and curses echoed from behind him.

White Cloud Mountain was several thousand zhang tall, its summit piercing the clouds.

At that moment, at the edge of the cliff, Ye Xing dismounted from his Gale Leopard. The mountain wind was biting, causing his robes to whip and flap violently.

’Holy crap, it’s really fucking high,’ Ye Xing stood at the cliff’s edge, peering down into a bottomless, swirling abyss of clouds and mist. ’If I’d known, I would’ve gone bungee jumping a few days ago to get a feel for it.’

"Little Zhi, how about we jump down from here together?" Ye Xing said with a smile.

"Chirp! Chirp!" the Little Purple Eagle nodded repeatedly.

"Chirp my ass! You have wings, I don’t! You little troublemaking pain in the neck! When we get back, I’m definitely building a cage to lock you up in. We’ll see if you can still run around causing chaos then!" Ye Xing said.

"Chirp!" The Little Purple Eagle looked at Ye Xing with innocent, lively eyes.

"Kid, hand over the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle!"

"Hand over the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle, and we’ll spare your life!"

"Hand it over, now!"

"If you don’t want to die, hand over the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle!"

The crowd of Martial Artists shouted as they closed in on Ye Xing, cornering him at the cliff’s edge.

’Damn it, I’m actually afraid of heights. Looks like there’s no other choice. I might have to jump off a cliff today. Good thing I have a parachute.’

Facing the aggressive Martial Artists, Ye Xing quickly recalled his Gale Leopard into his Qiankun Bag. Staying in the Qiankun Bag for too long could lead to suffocation, but it would be fine for a short while.

After stowing the Gale Leopard in his Qiankun Bag, Ye Xing swiftly took out a parachute and strapped it to his back.

"Huh? What’s that kid doing? Is he going to jump?"

"He must be. He knows there’s no escape. Even if he doesn’t jump, we’ll kill him!"

"But we haven’t gotten the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle yet! We still need his cooperation!"

"If he dies, we probably won’t get the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle either!"

"So what? You, with your mere Martial Arts Eighth Layer cultivation, think you can get the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle? Ridiculous. Aren’t you afraid of losing your life?"

"There’s always a sliver of hope. You’re only at the Eighth Realm yourself, and you dare to laugh at me."

"So what if I laugh at you? When we, Lingnan’s Two Heroes, join forces, we can easily fight a Ninth Realm expert. Are you even in the same league?"

"Quick, he’s really going to jump!"

"Capture him, quick! If we capture him, we’ll get the Purple Lightning Golden Eagle!"

The Martial Artists grew anxious and, one by one, used their Lightweight Skill, rushing forward at top speed to capture Ye Xing.

"Heh, a bunch of morons. You think your Master Xing is that easy to catch? I’ll settle the score with you all another day!" A cold smirk played on Ye Xing’s lips. He gazed at the misty abyss below, just as he was about to jump.

Suddenly—

"WHOOSH!"

A strong wind swirled above the cliff as a crane with feathers as white as snow beat its wings, soaring through the air at incredible speed.

"Ye Xing, stop! Don’t do anything foolish!" A pleasant, melodious female voice, tinged with anxiety and concern, rang out.

A snow-clothed woman drifted down from the back of the Wind-Chasing White Crane. Her sleeves fluttered as she descended, cradling a White Jade Guqin in her left arm. With her right hand, she gracefully raised her slender, jade-like fingers and plucked at the Guqin’s strings.

"DING DONG DONG... TWANG..."

Within the crisp notes of the Guqin was a terrifying sonic wave that howled forward. The musical sound waves advanced layer by layer, rippling outward like circles in water.

The Martial Artists who were aggressively charging toward the cliff’s edge instantly felt terrifying waves of sonic energy rushing toward them.

"BOOM!" "BANG! BANG! BANG!"

A fierce gale swept through. A series of sonic booms erupted in the air above the cliff. All the Seventh Realm Martial Artists were sent flying like broken sacks. The Eighth Realm Martial Artists felt like tiny boats in a raging sea; they were forced back seven or eight steps by the blast before they could stabilize themselves, their faces etched with utter shock.

The sonic wave was so powerful that even the four or five Martial Arts Ninth Layer experts on the scene were forced back a step or two.

Among the group of Martial Artists hunting Ye Xing, only one person hadn’t retreated even half a step: Gao Zhisong, wielder of the Seven-Snake Centipede Whip, ranked seventy-ninth on the Wind and Cloud List.

Of course, while Gao Zhisong hadn’t retreated under the force of the sonic wave, he found it just as difficult to advance.

’What terrifying Sound Skill! With a Realm like that, this woman must be a prodigy from one of the great clans!’ The green-robed Gao Zhisong’s eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed solemnly on the Snow-clothed Woman before him.
