My Girlfriend Is a Demon Queen
Chapter 64: Hey kid... send my darling out."
The cafe looked a lot more crowded today compared to the last two days.
When Himanshu looked closely from the pavement a distance away, he could clearly feel it. Most of the cafe was visible from the outside through its huge glass windows.
He had made up his mind to observe the demon’s behavior more closely. He wanted to test if she really was like those girls from that hellhole, the ones who had absolutely no sense of right and wrong.
Himanshu knew the chances of that were pretty low, because deep down he felt the demon was different from all of them. And the clues from the writer and Priya were pointing to the exact same thing.
Himanshu pushed the door open, and his guess was right. It was way too crowded. The usual soothing, slow music wasn’t playing today. Instead, the annoying sounds of some guys yelling and making a ruckus pierced his ears. Just hearing them, it felt less like they were celebrating a birthday and more like they were just a bunch of rowdy jerks looking to make noise.
Their clothes looked normal, but the way they wore them made it seem like they owned every place they stepped into. Their shirt sleeves were rolled halfway up, and they had this fake, careless look on their faces. Their eyes kept scanning every corner of the cafe, as if they were looking for a ’special target’.
The people sitting around them were just trying to finish their coffee quickly and find an excuse to leave.
Obviously, Himanshu’s eyes immediately started searching for the demon.
The noise these guys were making filled him with a weird anxiety and fear. Because there wasn’t even a trace of ’basic respect’ in the behavior of those 5 or 6 guys. Instead, a twisted, cruel joy in bothering others was clearly showing on their faces.
Himanshu took a deep breath of relief.
Luckily, things hadn’t gotten out of hand in the cafe yet. The demon was still inside the kitchen, distracting herself with work, or maybe she was just trying to keep herself calm.
But one thing was really bothering Himanshu.
How did Gaurav (the senior) even allow guys like these to celebrate a birthday here? Looking at the usually quiet vibe of the cafe, it was pretty obvious Gaurav hated this kind of stuff.
Thinking this, he walked forward, his eyes scanning for the seniors. The cafe wasn’t that big, but because of the crowd, Himanshu had to lean and twist his neck to see around.
Suddenly, Himanshu’s eyebrows knit together.
Maya (the other senior) was talking on the phone. For the first time, Himanshu saw her forehead so creased and her fingers gripping the phone so tightly.
Seeing Maya’s face like that, the air in the cafe suddenly felt a bit heavier to Himanshu. Because seeing that kind of expression on the usually cheerful senior meant one thing—the situation was actually serious.
When he looked around and couldn’t find Gaurav anywhere, Himanshu understood that these were uninvited guests, and they weren’t going to leave without causing a scene.
Himanshu clenched his teeth.
The situation wasn’t completely out of hand yet... but the demon working inside was still a ’brainwashed weapon’ to all of them. One slight mistake or insult, and in the blink of an eye, she could end those guys using the small knives and forks sitting right on their tables.
Yeah, he had taught her how to control her anger a little bit, but the reasons for that control were slowly fading away for the demon. She had already been suppressing the anger of her ’fake identity’ reality for two nights. She was a powder keg, just waiting for a spark to explode.
"Senior... who are these guys?" Himanshu went closer and asked quietly.
Seeing Himanshu, the panic on Maya’s face lessened a bit.
"Good thing you got here on time. I just spoke to Gaurav, he should be here any minute. I’m calling the cops... until then, you just keep an eye on them. But please... don’t make them angry."
But without waiting, the moment Maya started dialing the number on her phone... Himanshu picked up the menus and walked straight toward their table himself.
The situation was a lot worse than it looked. Himanshu realized this when he carefully noticed the guys’ eyes.
They kept glancing toward the service counter over and over again. It looked like they were trying to catch a glimpse of someone ’special’. You could clearly see that lustful, creepy look on their faces. Especially in the eyes of a tall, bulky guy standing in the middle of them... holding a knife to cut the cake.
Finally... Himanshu completely understood why the demon was feeling so angry and hollow yesterday.
She had endured this exact same harassment from them yesterday! And today... today they had come back to have fun again.
As he stepped forward, his anger could clearly be felt in his heavy breathing.
He didn’t blink even once. He just kept glaring at them with tense eyes.
He felt like taking both his thumbs and shoving those dirty, searching eyes deep into their skulls.
Without saying a word, he slammed the menus down onto their table.
But no one even looked at the menus. All their eyes shifted and locked onto Himanshu.
For a split second, total silence fell over the cafe.
Then, cutting through that silence, came the raspy, disgusting voice of that tall, bulky guy.
"Hey kid... send my darling out."
He slid his hand inside his half-open t-shirt, rubbing his chest as he said it with absolute shamelessness.
Himanshu’s face turned pale. His body, which was trying to act normal just a second ago, now went completely stiff like a rock.
"Didn’t you hear me?" His voice got heavier, more threatening.
But Himanshu didn’t flinch. He stood perfectly still, glaring right back at him with eyes full of anger and disgust. His breathing had gotten completely heavy.
Just then, the cheerful, scummy voice of a guy sitting next to him popped up.
"Looks like... we’ll have to do the same thing to him."
That guy picked up a large glass filled with cold coffee from the table. And without a second thought, he poured the whole thing, ice cubes and all, right over Himanshu’s head.
Himanshu’s eyes went wide.
Everything that had happened yesterday started flashing crystal clear in front of his eyes.
He couldn’t even imagine how the demon had actually endured all this! Himanshu’s heart shattered from the inside.
The thing he had been afraid of was the truth after all. The demon really couldn’t see that blurry line between right and wrong.
That brainwashed girl had taken this humiliation and insult as just a part of her anger and suffered through it quietly... because for her, this was all normal. She probably just thought she had successfully controlled her temper.
Thinking about this, a horrible wave of guilt rose in Himanshu’s chest. Because of him... a queen was being forced to tolerate the curses and dirty stares of these two-bit thugs. The truth was, today Himanshu was more furious at his own helplessness and failure than he was at these guys.
The guy didn’t stop until the glass was completely empty. And along with the dripping liquid, echoed their infuriating, ugly laughter.
Everyone sitting nearby stood up from their chairs. All eyes were locked onto Himanshu’s soaking wet, humiliated figure.
Himanshu didn’t move an inch, he just kept his head down, staring at the floor. But his pupils were shaking rapidly.
But... the tall, bulky guy’s next words made it impossible for Himanshu to hold back anymore.
The guy hadn’t expected such a fast reaction; nobody even got the time to process it.
Without a single thought... Himanshu’s fist cut through the air with all his strength and landed straight on that huge guy’s jaw.
Crack...
With a sickening sound, the sudden, brutal impact slammed the heavy guy straight onto the floor.
That guy’s last line was still echoing in Himanshu’s ears.
"...her body was seriously worth licking."
For some reason, a fire erupted deep inside Himanshu. A kind of fire that made every single hair on his body stand up. And now... he had absolutely no control over himself.
He didn’t care about anything anymore. Not the job, not the cops, and definitely not his own life.
