My Girlfriend Is a Demon Queen
Chapter 54: She... she kill all the humans?
Himanshu was just worried that the boy might be someone from his own class.. But that worry turned into reality the moment he lifted his gaze and saw him.
Himanshu’s eyes narrowed in panic. His luck had screwed him over once again, like always, or you could say his own stupidity had brought him to this point.
The guy’s name was Rahul. He wasn’t a class topper, nor was he a backbencher.
But Himanshu was panicking, not scared of him.
Because Rahul was the only guy in class who spoke the absolute least. Or rather, he had almost zero friends in the whole class. Himanshu had mostly seen him sitting alone or minding his own business. Maybe that was the biggest reason why Himanshu wasn’t terrified of him.
He felt like if it was any other student standing there, they would probably be rolling on the floor laughing at Himanshu’s state by now, or grabbing him by the collar in anger. And if it was some gossip guy, he would’ve already broadcasted it to the whole class.
So why was Himanshu panicking so much?
Because he had also proposed to Priya. He had feelings for Priya too. And for a teenage guy, having anything related to his crush exposed in front of someone else is nothing short of a nightmare.
Himanshu just kept looking at Rahul with a trembling, shrunken gaze.
But that guy didn’t turn to look at Himanshu even once. His face had absolutely zero expressions, like whatever Himanshu said didn’t matter to him at all.
He washed his hands, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped his hands normally, and walked right out of the washroom. He ignored Himanshu like nobody was even standing there.
Himanshu stayed frozen in his spot. He just watched Rahul walk out through the side mirror.
His ignoring behavior did lessen Himanshu’s panic a bit, but it didn’t completely go away. Weird thoughts were still spinning in his head.
With that same panic and confusion, Himanshu walked out of the washroom. Walking up and placing his hand on the classroom door handle, he was hoping in his heart that everything inside would be as normal as he had left it a few moments ago.
He slowly opened the door. Seeing the silence and the vibe inside, it seemed like everything was fine.
And it actually was. All the kids were normal like before. Nobody had that waiting look or any weird reaction on their face seeing Himanshu walk in.
Himanshu took a deep breath and stepped inside. First of all, his eyes automatically went towards Priya.
Priya shifted her gaze from the blackboard slightly to the side, as if she knew someone had walked in through the gate. And maybe she even knew who it was, but she didn’t turn her neck completely.
After looking for a second, Himanshu’s eyes locked straight onto the guy who had made him panic so much in the washroom.
Rahul was sitting just one bench ahead in his own row.
Walking past Priya, who was sitting on the second bench in the front, Himanshu quietly walked toward his row.
While walking, Himanshu tried to make eye contact with Rahul from a distance, but Rahul just kept his neck down, glued to his notebook.
Seeing him so busy with his work made Himanshu’s heart feel even lighter. Like a heavy rock placed on his chest was slowly sliding down.
Maybe... he don’t care about me and Priya.
Thinking this, Himanshu finally went and sat down on his chair.
Going to the washroom was really a good idea. The cold water and that short break had calmed his brain down.
Seeing everyone around busy with their own stuff, he unzipped his bag and reached inside to pull out his notebook.
But as soon as he looked inside, the notebook he wanted was for a different subject. He opened the other, last zipper of his bag, and the moment he put his hand inside... his fingers felt a thick book.
The moment he felt it, everything from tonight with the Demon suddenly flashed in his mind.
Along with a mild panic, in a single second, those weird dreams of the Demon and the touch of her warm hand he felt in the cafe... everything flashed before his eyes like a movie.
He quickly grabbed the manga tight, pulled it out of the bag, and placed it on the table.
The ’Demon Queen’ manga showing on the front page felt like an album belonging to someone close to his.
He vaguely remembered how many pages he had managed to survive reading that night.
He didn’t really remember what was going on in the story. That’s why he decided he would start from the very beginning again. There was another reason to read it again—to understand the Demon, who had now become a part of his real life.
Right at the beginning of the manga, we are shown the insane powers of the Demon Queen. She was brutally slaughtering dangerous four-legged and five-legged creatures all by herself. The humans sitting on those creatures, wearing tough armors, were constantly shooting magic arrows at the Demon Queen.
But it was totally true that the Demon Queen wiped out that entire army in just a few moments. Without showing any mercy. The bloodshed was happening like she was playing some game.
And in the end, she made the human leader her slave and took him along to her kingdom.
Like always, she was highly praised in her kingdom upon returning victorious. This was the 13th time the Demon Queen, along with her four supporters, had brought victory to her kingdom.
But the shocking part was that even after all this, there was no happiness or worry on the Demon Queen’s face, like always. Looking at her, it felt like she wasn’t a living person, just a weapon of war. A Birth that was born only to win wars.
In her kingdom, the rules and laws made by her were followed very strictly.
This war between humans and demons wasn’t new, it had been going on for years. The demons got their powers from a mysterious red stone that shined like the sun. And the humans fought them by enslaving those dangerous creatures and stealing the demons’ powers.
This war was for keeping their own people alive between the two species.
It was a planet that was twice as small as our Earth. But the surprising thing was that its population was four times bigger than Earth’s. So it was obvious that this war was being fought for resources.
And their luck was probably even worse than Earthlings, because 85% of their planet was covered in water. But this wasn’t the only reason for the war between these two species. The real reason was the hunger of humans’ greed to get powers. And on the other side, the demons treating humans like bugs.
It was such a weird planet where even a normal human died after 1000 years, and a demon’s lifespan ended after 30,000 years. It was really hard to tell the actual age of the living things there. Looking at everything, it felt like everyone’s lifespan there had increased 10 times compared to humans.
When no solution came out of the fighting, 16,000 years before the old Queen, a contract was made between humans and demons. No one wanted to approve it, but eventually, they had to make this decision. The decision was that both species wouldn’t increase their population.
Well, this contract only lasted until the old Queen died 8,000 years ago.
And as soon as she died, humans started brutally killing the demons. The situation got so bad that out of the 16 demon kingdoms, only 3 were left under their control.
These were the same kingdoms that the current Demon Queen had won back by fighting 13 times.
Himanshu kept turning the pages, but slowly his eyes started getting tired.
"Man, what a hell trash and boring book this is, my readers would totally get bored reading this. Stop it, I can’t read anymore. Where is the Demon Queen? Why can’t I see you? This idiot writer wasted a whole 100 pages just dropping history and war conflicts."
In the class, keeping one book on top of another, Himanshu was secretly reading the manga. Over the last three hours, Himanshu had read 100 pages.
Until only 15 minutes were left for the last period, he forced his mind and decided not to put the book down. He looked at the page numbers at the back and let out a sad sigh.
Because that manga had over 1500 pages.
Putting the book back in his bag, he rested his elbows on the table and covered his eyes and forehead with his palms.
Maybe she’s right in her place. It’s not her fault in this. He explained it to himself in his mind.
Wait... I can just read the last pages. To see what happens in the end.
Himanshu quickly removed his hands from his forehead. Panicking badly, he unzipped his bag, pulled the book out, and flipped straight to the back pages.
The moment he saw the page, Himanshu’s eyes remained wide open for a second. His pupils fluttered.
Because now, on the world map in the hands of the demon, there was only one color visible, and that was red. Meaning, the Demon Kingdom.
She... she kill all the humans?
His hands shook for a second. The grip of his fingers holding the book loosened.
In one swift motion, he shut the book out of fear and turned his head toward the window beside him.
He just couldn’t believe it.
No... I refuse to believe she killed everyone. I admit she is cruel, she has anger issues. But she won’t just kill so many innocent people for no reason.
To quench the thirst of his dry throat, he bent down to pick up his water bottle kept right next to his feet.
Right then... his eyes fell on the corner of the table.
There was a small folded piece of paper tucked there. He was seeing it there for the first time. And his mind was already tangled up in a huge mess of anxiety. Ignoring that paper, he picked up his water bottle, drank some water, and calmed his panic a little.
For a few moments, he tried to act normal by looking at the happy people coming and going outside.
And then he remembers that this is just a manga written by someone.
Well, writers can write anything.
And besides... he’s just a fictional character anyway.
telling himself all this, he felt a little better. But for some reason, a sense of uneasiness was eating him up inside.
And then he remembered that folded piece of paper.
Pulling it out, he slowly opened it.
"Can you come with me for the manga collection after school today?"
The moment he read the note, it didn’t even take him a second to understand whose it was.
His gaze lifted from the paper and locked straight ahead.
