My Dream Connects to 3000 Years in the Future
Chapter 270 222: Time Club Members
Chu Bamboo swiped to the next page, then his movement halted.
"Finally, after untold hardships, I found the Chixiao Sword. And, with the power of a Second Realm Cultivator, I successfully activated it! I have imprinted the Divine Power Fire within it.
While I'm still not entirely clear on how the Golden Dawn's Artifacts work, our Divine Continent's Artifacts require one to possess Extraordinary Power just to have a chance of activating them!
Furthermore, the more powerful the Artifact, the more Energy it requires! Take this Chixiao Divine Sword, for example. Without Second Realm Energy, it's impossible to activate… and even with it, it still took me a full three months…"
Chu Bamboo fell silent for a moment. He tapped back to the previous page and read it over twice, the corner of his eye twitching. "This… this can't be right, can it?"
'There's a huge chunk missing here! And it seems like a lot is gone…'
'For starters, how did you suddenly break through to the Second Realm?'
"Wait, are parts of the diary missing?" Chu Bamboo suddenly realized. This was a possibility he had already considered. After all, his diary used a mix of text from dreams and reality, and his deliberately flamboyant calligraphy made it extremely difficult for others to decipher.
This meant that even the Time Club member who input the diary into the machine likely couldn't understand it.
Given the circumstances, if the input process was messy, or if parts of the diary were damaged beforehand… it would be perfectly normal for the entries not to line up.
"But this didn't happen the previous times! Could it be that… it went through some great upheaval?" Chu Bamboo sank into thought. He didn't feel too disappointed. 'This failure will be a valuable lesson for next time!'
He swiped his finger again, processing the vast amount of information.
Chu Bamboo mused, 'The location of the Chixiao Sword… I should write that down. I just don't know if the sword is actually there at this point in time in the Real World. But even if I got my hands on it, I'd still have to wait until the Second Realm to use it!'
Chu Bamboo continued reading.
"January 7th, Year 39. The Time Club now has eight members! Besides me, a Second Realm Cultivator, four of the others have become First Realm Body Refiners.
Lin Xia and Zhao Shao are not among them. It couldn't be helped. After all, becoming Extraordinary is just too dangerous… I couldn't bear the cost of their deaths.
January 8th, we successfully established a permanent base on the Moon!"
"??" Chu Bamboo's eye twitched. 'So, just name the members of the Time Club already!'
Then again, Chu Bamboo figured the names had probably been mentioned earlier, but with so much of the diary missing… well.
"What a pain!" Chu Bamboo sighed and kept reading. It was clear that the diary once again started making huge leaps in time. However, the tone became surprisingly warm.
The name Guan Qianyu appeared quite frequently. However, from the author's tone, Chu Bamboo surmised that in this timeline… Guan Qianyu probably wasn't the author's wife.
'I wonder if that just brought out her rebellious side,' Chu Bamboo mused with a click of his tongue. On the other hand, by reading through the entries, he did learn the names of a few other people who had joined the Time Club.
One was Lu Keke, and another was Guan Qianyu. There was actually one more person, named Kevin Wait… Based on the surname, Chu Bamboo suspected he might be from the Witte Clan, the same one from the Golden Dawn that was hunting him.
'But if the author invited him to join the Time Club, it must mean something happened to make the author trust him, right?'
Chu Bamboo ventured a bold speculation. For a core member of a suspected enemy faction to earn the author's trust, his credibility might be even greater than that of a normal member… Plus, this person's abilities must be terrifyingly powerful! The author would never have taken such a risk unless it was absolutely necessary.
After all, Chu Bamboo was a staunch believer in thorough background checks.
The problem was, the information Chu Bamboo currently had was far too scarce. No matter how he thought about it, everything felt hazy…
Soon, Chu Bamboo flipped to the final page of the diary. When he realized there was nothing more, his expression froze.
"Perhaps going to Mars was a colossal mistake. Even though I drew on all my past experience and did everything in my power to lock it down, this strange contamination always finds bizarre ways to worm its way out from every possible angle!
It's as if the knowledge itself is alive, as if it has a mind of its own! Dammit."
"What's even more unbelievable is that, compared to the last timeline… this contamination now seems to be truly laced with some unimaginably malicious knowledge! And it's begun to spread knowledge of the Extraordinary…
It's enabling all sorts of Shoe Sect organizations that popped up out of nowhere—ones that never had Extraordinary Power in the last timeline—to truly grasp it now!"
"I have no other choice. I can only spread the Dharma Gates of Body Refining even further! I will use the blood and cores of these Demon Cultists to forge one immensely powerful army after another."
"I have ushered in an age of the Extraordinary! But I have an ominous feeling… I may have opened a Pandora's Box."
And then…
There was nothing else.
The diary was over.
After it came familiar, elegant Chinese handwriting… Unsurprisingly, it had to be Lin Xin Bamboo's.
Chu Bamboo was silent for a long while before reading it all over again. The most horrifying part of the description was the idea that… knowledge itself was alive?
'Things aren't set in stone!' Chu Bamboo mused. 'So, did my counterpart do something to provoke the mastermind? To make them intervene more thoroughly?'
'This is a good thing! What would be truly scary is if the enemy never changed their tactics… that would mean they don't care about Earth's civilization at all! But now, this at least proves they're paying close attention to Earth… and constantly changing their plans!'
Having thought it through, Chu Bamboo finally started reading the elegant handwriting. But the opening line was a bolt from the blue.
"The path of the Extraordinary is a dead end. Once the informational contamination spreads, it is nearly impossible to contain!"
"When knowledge of the Extraordinary is confined to a small number of people—specifically, no more than a hundred—the problem is still manageable.
But when entire regions of people become aware of it, the informational contamination naturally proliferates and spreads as the concept of the Extraordinary becomes common knowledge."
"Future Uncle Chu, you must remember! You can usher in an age of the Extraordinary, but you must add a disguise—for example, call it Divine Land Kung Fu, or Western magic!
You cannot say directly that it is a power that transcends the mortal world! You absolutely must not…"
