My Dream Connects to 3000 Years in the Future
Chapter 225 - 181: Myths of the Various Religions
’Who’s from the Moisture Teaching here, you or him? He’s not even as smooth as you are!’
In response, Chu Bamboo simply lowered his head, solemnly flipping through the *Mythology Encyclopedia*. And then...
"...I really can’t stomach this kind of mythology!"
Chu Bamboo slapped a hand to his face. The founder of the Celestial Court was named the Celestial God, also known as the Jade Emperor—that was normal enough. ’It even feels like it was copied directly from the Real World!’
But what followed was all wrong.
Because the Celestial God also claimed to be the Creator.
This myth effectively combined with the one spread by missionaries from the Western Land at the beginning of the Daqian Dynasty. And that was how the current version came to be! The idea that the Celestial God was, in essence, the God of the Western Land.
’Though I have no idea what kind of struggle it took...’
In any case, the final result was that the God Worship Sect split into a Western Faction and a native one.
Chu Bamboo actually suspected that this being, who seemed to be a holdover from a previous civilization, might have really gone to the Western Land and played God for a while... ’To be honest,’ he thought, ’if I were in his shoes and had the chance, I probably couldn’t resist the urge to cosplay either!’
However, as this myth evolved over time, missionaries from the Western Land arrived. They were shocked to learn of the local mythology and entered into constant debates with the local God Worship Sect adherents, even presenting evidence...
For a religion, this was an event with a massive, damaging, and what could even be called a subversive impact!
This was also why Chu Bamboo suspected it was cosplay. If this irrefutable history didn’t actually exist, the God Worship Sect would never have split in two so easily.
The repercussions were enormous!
Although the two factions of the God Worship Sect seemed to have stitched themselves back together and maintained a united front to the outside world, reading about it now, tracing it back to the moment the ’God is the God of the West’ argument first appeared—at that time, a civil war had nearly broken out!
’Which was pretty reasonable, all things considered.’
And... that was it.
That was the only useful piece of information about the God Worship Sect!
The religions of the Dream World were quite interesting. You could clearly see traces of them extending from the Real World—
Namely, deifying the Human Ancestors!
It wasn’t just the God Worship Sect.
Chu Bamboo thoughtfully opened another book, his eyes scanning ten lines at a glance.
For example, the Mo God worshiped by the Moisture Teaching was actually its original founder, Mozi!
Initially, Mozi was the God of Tools! This was later shortened to Mo God.
But as technology developed, He gradually became the God of Manufacturing and Steam... and now, the Mo God has become the God of Industry and Civil Engineering.
Of course, Chu Bamboo much preferred to call him the God of Dust Beating.
The other religions were much the same...
The sole exception was Confucianism!
Within the Confucian system, they denied that the beings worshiped by other religions were gods, calling them saints instead.
Confucian scholars referred to their own founder as the Confucian Saint.
Likewise, they referred to the being worshiped by the Moisture Teaching as the Mo Saint, and the one worshiped by Buddhism as the Buddha Saint...
Of course, the other religions, in turn, called the Confucian Saint the God of Wisdom and the Confucian Path.
The god of Taoism was the God of Nature and Morality, and for Buddhism, it was the God of Unity and Harmony...
All in all... there were similarities to the Real World, but also differences. And some of those differences struck Chu Bamboo as downright bizarre.
For instance, he couldn’t figure out how Buddhism could possibly be associated with the words "unity" and "harmony"...
He even suspected the words were simply typos... For example, the "harmony" part. Surely the correct word was "conversion"—
’Now *that’s* a word related to Buddhism!’
After skimming through a few more books, Chu Bamboo felt he had successfully wasted a good half hour.
’Forget it, I should have expected this,’ Chu Bamboo sighed internally. It was just as Li Kang had said: the waters of religion run deep, to say nothing of their founders and the gods they worshiped...
It was almost a certainty that the truly essential information of the various religions would contain otherworldly "informational pollution." This practically guaranteed that he would only get surface-level details from the books in the library’s collection...
’Thinking about it that way, instead of reading history books here... I might as well go back and ask Nuwa. After all, it seems like she fought her way through that era... Then again, her most likely response would be: "Request timed out. Please try again later."’
Seeing Chu Bamboo return all the books one by one, Wall Announcements, who had already started reading a manga, reluctantly put it down. His attitude was now completely different.
"How about... we wait a little longer! Hey, wait... Let me go pay for a library card and check out some books before we leave!"
...
「Three minutes later.」
Wall Announcements followed Chu Bamboo to the library entrance, head hanging in dejection. He had asked around and discovered that getting a library card required identification. Since he didn’t have his on him, and going back to get it would take too much time, he had no choice but to give up with a heavy heart.
"So, Ah Zhu, how are we getting there? It’s already past two! If we walk, I don’t think we’ll..."
He didn’t even get to finish his sentence before a beige electric car, swift and fluid as a roaming dragon, sped over from the distance and glided to a perfect stop before them.
The window slid down, revealing Zhang Hai’s smiling face. He was no longer wearing his white ceremonial robes. Now, he was dressed in a set of Ancient Relic clothes in the style of a Tang suit, his hair combed flawlessly.
He raised an eyebrow. "Get in! And be careful... I’ve got that assassin tied up in the back. I already hit him with my Pretty Boy Knockout... COUGH COUGH. Mr. Zhu, you’ve almost corrupted me!"
"What I mean is, he’s unconscious now and probably won’t wake up. Even if he does, he won’t be able to break his bonds, but you should still be a little careful."
"Okay!" Chu Bamboo nodded with a grave expression. He then clapped Wall Announcements firmly on the shoulder. "You be careful..."
"Huh? Me?" Wall Announcements was stunned. Before he could figure out what Chu Bamboo meant, he saw Chu Bamboo humming a tune as he walked around to the other side and hopped into the passenger seat.
Wall Announcements: "..."
Fine. Wall Announcements scrambled into the back seat, trembling, and saw a person wrapped tightly from head to toe in red cloth.
The red cloth looked as if it had been dyed in blood. He even had the illusion that it was still dripping...
After a moment of silence, he shuddered and whispered, "This wrapping is a little creepy! Seriously, couldn’t you guys have gone with something a little more... normal?"
Zhang Hai didn’t even bother to respond. He stomped on the accelerator, and the sudden force pinning him to his seat cut Wall Announcements off mid-sentence.
The beige electric car shot off into the distance like a bolt of lightning.
