Chapter 319: Chapter 208: The Green Glow on Xia Bin’s Forehead (2)

She scrambled off him and rolled to one side, unable to resist sneaking a glance at him.

She offered a hand to help him up. He took the opportunity to grasp her soft, smooth hand as he pushed himself off the ground with the other to stand.

He glanced down at himself, then at the beet-red Lin Ya. He quickly decided he’d better find a place to sit down for a bit.

"You go deal with Xia Bin first. I’m going to sit here for a bit and chant the Purifying Heart Spell."

Lin Ya had no idea what a Purifying Heart Spell was, but Xia Bin was still waiting outside. She really did have to go deal with him.

She smoothed her messy hair and called out, "Have President Xia from Four Seasons Clothing wait in the meeting room. I’ll be right there."

Outside, Xia Bin was still fuming. He’d pieced together what happened, though—it was definitely his fault for barging in. But regardless of who caused it, the result was the same: he’d been cuckolded. He couldn’t accept it!

Just then, Lin Ya’s assistant arrived to lead him to the meeting room. He sullenly followed, going to wait for Lin Ya.

Chen Xiao sat alone, chanting the Purifying Heart Spell.

’The system is ruining my life. This Endurance Value is ruining my life...’

’My Endurance Value is only 109 right now. What am I going to do when it hits 200? Will I just turn into a dog in heat whenever I go outside?’

Chen Xiao was starting to "hate" this side of himself. He was constantly getting into these embarrassing situations.

"President Xia, you’ve gone too far!"

Lin Ya’s expression was frosty. She had resumed her usual aloof, imperious demeanor.

Her coming in and immediately chewing him out stunned Xia Bin, who had been the one ready to ask a barrage of questions.

’I’m the one who went too far? You were on top of him, face all flushed, and he looked like he was in heaven! And I’m the one who went too far?’

’I haven’t even held your goddamn hand, and you’re my fiancée!’

"Xiao Ya..."

"President Xia, this is a professional setting. Please address me as President Lin."

Brimming with authority, Lin Ya sat across from him, her gaze cold.

"Fine, President Lin. I’d like to ask what exactly happened today."

"What happened? I should be asking you that! Let’s not waste any time. State your reason for being here."

Her words actually made Xia Bin feel a bit better. He knew he had caused that scene just now. Damn it, he hated himself! He had single-handedly pushed his own fiancée into the arms of that bastard Chen Xiao!

Lin Ya was treating this as a business meeting, and he knew what was at stake. He had no choice but to set aside his personal feelings.

"President Lin, I’m here today mainly about our partnership. We’ve worked together for so long, and it’s always been great. Why are you trying to drive us into the ground now?"

’Why? You really have no idea how you’re about to go down, do you? The reason is sitting in my office right now—the same person you just threw a pen holder at!’

’You spend all day digging your own grave, and you’re still looking around for someone to blame!’

"President Xia, I hope you can understand that a partnership is a two-way street. If one party feels there’s a problem, choosing to terminate the agreement is a normal business practice. What does that have to do with driving you into the ground? If you don’t operate in Junxiao Square Second Store, there are plenty of other malls."

"It’s not like your business will fail just because you leave."

Xia Bin’s head was about to explode. The truth was, his business *would* fail if he left. He’d had his finance department run the numbers; based on the current situation, his revenue would drop by over 50% by next year. That was tantamount to collapse!

In the past two days, business at his Wanhong Square location had also been hit hard, with revenue falling to half its usual level. He knew how Junxiao Square operated; he was not optimistic about Wanhong Square’s future.

Kicking someone when they were down was their favorite tactic. That guy Zhao Hui had done the exact same thing to him at the Junxiao Square Store.

"President Lin, given our relationship, I hope you can be honest with me. Who do I need to talk to in order to solve this?"

Lin Ya considered this for a moment. She realized this was an unsolvable problem for Xia Bin. He couldn’t even get close to the person who was truly behind all this.

The young master of the Xia Family, usually so imperious, probably had no idea that in some people’s eyes, crushing him would be as easy as crushing an ant.

"President Xia, like I said last time, I can’t do anything about this."

Xia Bin stared intently into Lin Ya’s eyes. Hearing her words, he pressed, "This is coming from the top?"

Lin Ya nodded. There was no need to hide that from him.

"Xu Jun, that old bastard! I’ll fuck his entire family line!"

Xia Bin instinctively assumed this was Xu Jun’s doing. And in fact, Xu Jun had been the one to notify Lin Ya. But Xia Bin was wrong to curse Xu Jun; he was blaming the wrong man.

Just then, the meeting room door was thrown open. Xia Bin, who was sitting with his back to the entrance, turned his head to see the furious face of Xu Jun.

His face livid, he asked in a cold voice, "President Xia, how have I, Xu Jun, offended you, that you’re cursing me behind my back?"

Xu Jun had just finished a call outside and was passing by when he happened to hear someone cursing his name. Enraged, he threw open the door, only to find it was Xia Bin.

Xia Bin froze. He instantly remembered that this was a man he could not afford to offend. He shot to his feet. "President Xu, President Xu, I wasn’t cursing you!"

Xu Jun sneered. "I can tell whether you were cursing me or not. You used my full name. Don’t tell me you’re too cowardly to admit what you’ve done?"

"President Xia, you need a certain level of decency to make it in the business world. Cursing people behind their backs is shameful. And I can guarantee that someone like that won’t last long in this business."

Xia Bin tried to explain, but Xu Jun cut him off. "Don’t bother saying anything else. From now on, we’re finished."

With that, he closed the door behind him.

Xia Bin collapsed back into his seat, utterly demoralized. How could he be so damn unlucky? He never imagined that Xu Jun would be at the Junxiao Square Second Store, let alone that he’d be passing by at the exact moment he was being cursed.

’It was a coincidence for both of us. How come Chen Xiao’s coincidence ends with a beauty in his arms, while my coincidence ends with me getting caught red-handed!’

Xia Bin looked miserably at Lin Ya, but he knew she couldn’t change anything either. He was the one who’d been caught cursing someone, after all.

"President Xia, you should go back and start making arrangements. Out of respect for the long-standing friendship between our families, I’ll give you a heads-up: Junxiao Business Management will no longer be partnering with Four Seasons Clothing on any future projects."
