Chapter 101 - 100: You Went to the Blood Slaughter Sect to Stock Up?
Chapter 101: Chapter 100: You Went to the Blood Slaughter Sect to Stock Up?
The ropes binding the burlap sack perched on the tall horse’s back loosened.
The heads of the Blood Evil fiends packed inside tumbled out, bouncing one after another toward the faces of the disciples who had crowded around.
THUD! THUD! THUD!—
The group of Refining Valley disciples had thought the sack contained a corpse.
But what they actually saw was a pile of heads, their eyes wide open in death.
The reality was a stark contrast to their expectations. More than a dozen heads poured out, continuously thudding against the disciples.
Caught completely off guard, they erupted in ear-splitting shrieks:
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
"Ahhh!—"
Wu Chen had known this would happen and had already covered his ears. Even so, the faint sound of their groundhog-like screams managed to drill into his ears, making his eardrums ache.
The disciples’ throat-shredding screams echoed through the valley, the sound lingering and causing passersby to stare.
It was clear this group of Refining Valley disciples was utterly terrified by the heads that kept spilling from the sack.
A few of the female disciples had already collapsed, their faces deathly pale, unable to rise.
The male disciples weren’t faring much better, their legs trembling as they stumbled backward.
The few disciples closest to the sack were hit by the heads before they could retreat. They were left completely disoriented, and the shock of the horrific sight nearly made them faint.
They all had the strength of the Meridian Passage Realm, and it wasn’t as if they’d never killed a Blood Evil fiend before.
But even their first kill, which had given them nightmares, hadn’t been this terrifying!
"That’s Shu Heng, third-level Jade Bone Realm, fifty-five Contribution Points..."
"He Feng, third-level Jade Bone Realm, sixty-three Contribution Points..."
"Lou Jing’an, third-level Jade Bone Realm, sixty-two Contribution Points..."
"..."
A few disciples with good memories recognized the portraits from the sect’s booklet on the fiends and quickly began identifying the heads on the ground.
As the names and cultivation levels were announced, the area fell silent.
Jade Bone Realm fiends, dead just like that? And at least four or five of them!
Looking at the number of heads scattered about, didn’t that add up to four or five hundred Contribution Points?
That was as much as some of the sect’s Martial Artists accumulated over several years!
"Stone Ox... did you kill all these Blood Evil fiends?"
"Is this the power of the Overlord Body? It’s truly horrifying!"
"He may not act often, but when he does, it’s astonishing!"
"..."
Everyone stared intently at Stone Ox, suddenly feeling that if the one with the Overlord Body had done this, it somehow made sense.
Stone Ox jumped off his horse, looking exasperated. "This is so annoying. I told you not to touch it, but you had to go and do it anyway."
He sighed, pulled on a pair of leather gloves, took down the empty sack, and began tossing the scattered heads back in one by one.
His voice was laced with frustration.
"I would’ve loved to have killed them, but I never even got the chance!"
"And another thing—stop asking questions. Anyone who touched these heads needs to go wash their face and take an Antitoxic Pill right now."
"The poison powder on these heads has mostly dissipated, but it’s still not good to get any on you."
WHOOSH!—
As soon as Stone Ox finished speaking, at least half the disciples vanished in a flash.
These were the most curious disciples, the ones who had gotten closest and been hit squarely by the falling heads.
Now, hearing that the heads were poisoned, they ran screaming and crying toward the Refining Valley’s entrance:
"Elder! Help me!"
"..."
"It wasn’t you?"
A few disciples remained, watching Stone Ox pick up the heads one by one and put them back in the sack.
Hearing his mumbling, they were confused.
’If it wasn’t the Overlord Body, then who could it be?’
Their gazes swept the area. Besides Stone Ox, there was no one...
Then, their gazes landed on Wu Chen, still mounted on his horse with a tranquil expression.
The disciples’ eyes filled with suspicion. Just as they were about to inquire, two figures rushed out from within the Refining Valley.
"What happened?"
"Who’s causing a disturbance at the gates of the Refining Valley!"
The newcomers were a man and a woman, around eighteen or nineteen years old, dressed in coarse gray robes.
The man, named Zhuang Bo, had arms corded with muscle and was built like a bear.
The woman, named Zhuang Yan, was also built like a bear, with arms corded with muscle.
"Senior Brother, Senior Sister, Stone Ox brought some fiend heads to claim a reward. We were startled, that’s why we were shouting..."
One of the disciples quickly explained the reason for their screams, clarifying that no one was making trouble.
But one look at their senior brother’s stern gaze and the group fell silent, not daring to speak further.
After all, they had made such a scene right at their own gates. They were sure to be disciplined by their senior brother later.
"Making a fuss over nothing. They’re just a few fiend heads. Look at you, a pathetic bunch. Some of you even ran crying back into the valley. Have you no shame!"
Zhuang Bo, burly from his years at the forge, glared fiercely at the disciples.
"You’ve all gone out on missions before. It’s not like you’ve never killed a Blood Evil fiend. So why the terrified looks?"
"But..." a disciple tried to protest.
"But nothing! There’s nothing to ’but’ about!"
Zhuang Bo gave the disciple no chance to argue, immediately cutting him off. "If the fiends are here, it means they’re dead. What’s so scary about dead fiends!"
Seeing the disciples hang their heads in silence, he snorted heavily.
’This batch of disciples really is the worst,’ he thought. ’To think they’d react like this to just a few fiend heads.’
’Have their minds grown this weak just because they haven’t been on a mission or killed anything in a while?’
Then, Zhuang Bo’s gaze fell upon Stone Ox, who was quietly gathering the heads in the center of the crowd.
Stone Ox had just placed the last scattered head into the burlap sack.
"Let me see what kind of heads could scare you all this badly!"
Zhuang Bo shook his head, speechless, and walked over to Stone Ox. He stopped and leaned over to look into the sack.
When his vision was flooded with a sack so full of heads he couldn’t take them all in at once, his burly frame trembled and he blurted out:
"Holy shit!"
"Did you go wholesale shopping at the Blood Slaughter Sect?"
Zhuang Bo stared intently at Stone Ox, his eyes bloodshot and pupils shaking.
It was no wonder he reacted this way. As a fourth-level Jade Bone Realm expert himself, he too had killed fiends from the Blood Slaughter Sect.
He had killed one fiend at his same level, and two or three at lower levels within the Jade Bone Realm.
The problem was, every time he fought these fiends, it was one-on-one, or at most one-on-two.
A one-on-three fight was out of the question; he would have turned and fled without a second thought.
Bringing back even two fiend heads to the valley would have made him one of the top disciples in the sect.
A feat like that would earn him the praise of his fellow disciples for half a month, not to mention great acclaim from the valley’s Elders.
But what was this? Showing up with a sack stuffed full of fiend heads?
’Is this supposed to prove that your Overlord Body reaching Great Success is some world-shaking event?’
Seeing their senior brother’s equally stunned expression, the other disciples finally let out a collective sigh of relief.
"Whew!"
Being stared at so intently by the crowd was exhausting for Stone Ox.
He’d never felt so tired coming to the Refining Valley before. Even his usual work at the forge wasn’t this draining.
He let out a deep sigh, and his massive chest seemed to deflate.
Of course, he couldn’t take credit for this—especially since it wasn’t his achievement to begin with.
He pointed to Wu Chen on the horse, faced the crowd of Refining Valley disciples, and announced in a clear voice:
"I’ll say it again: my Brother Wu killed these fiends!"
"This had nothing to do with me whatsoever!"
At Stone Ox’s gesture, everyone’s gaze locked onto Wu Chen.
The young man on the horse had an indifferent expression, his gaze fixed on the entrance to the valley. He didn’t spare them a single glance, and it was obvious he had no intention of making small talk or explaining himself.
Zhuang Bo’s expression immediately turned serious. He cupped his fist in salute and said:
"This young master must be here at the Refining Valley to exchange Contribution Points for rewards. Please, come with me right this way!"
A formidable character like this could not be slighted.
After his salute, he quickly moved to the front, leading Stone Ox and Wu Chen into the Refining Valley at a brisk pace.
