My Core is the Boss
Chapter 374.2: Wall of Dong Jun, Spirit Martial God
Just then, Mu Yan’s ancestor manifested beside him, his gaze filled with admiration and indulgent affection. He said in a cheerful and hearty voice, "As expected of my descendant! You truly are, without a doubt, the number one Martial King!"
Mu Yan's expression tightened, and he immediately bowed. "Greetings, Ancestor!"
The newcomer was the progenitor of his bloodline, a Great Martial Lord.
Inwardly, Mu Yan felt quite puzzled. Why is my ancestor suddenly so enthusiastic toward me?
The Great Martial Lord said approvingly, also somewhat excited, "No need for formalities. Congratulations on winning the Ancestral Blood Battle. This is truly a joyous occasion."
At this point, the ancestor had concluded that the bloodline descendant Mu Yan spoke of was Qi Yuan, the Martial God. Otherwise, why would he mention Mu Yan and support him?
Even if that wasn't the case, if Mu Yan failed to claim first place after receiving Qi Yuan's favor, wouldn't that be tantamount to slapping the Martial God in the face and saying his judgment was flawed? Hence, only Mu Yan could claim first place!
On the other hand, Mu Yan still felt as though he were in a dream and could not quite comprehend it.
"Since you have obtained first place, go receive the Ancestral Blood Baptism! Hurry up and become a Martial Lord so you can join our Eastern Alliance!"
Mu Yan was beginning to believe. Could it be that he truly was a peerless genius among ten thousand? Perhaps, in a desperate situation, he had unleashed a blade strike beyond his realm, annihilating three hundred monsters in a single sweep. He became thrilled. As expected, he was the protagonist of this world. He was the chosen one, constantly encountering opportunities.
Recalling something, Mu Yan quickly said, "Ancestor, since I entered the top thirty, could you please do a favor for me—"
He was still worried about Qi Yuan.
The Great Martial Lord cast him an approving glance. "You need not worry about these matters."
Mu Yan felt even more excited, as though his life had turned into a cheat-filled existence. However, he still had unfinished tasks. After all, the ancestor was merely helping Qi Yuan out of obligation for a favor, so there was bound to be some oversight. Only after becoming a Martial Lord could he truly guarantee Qi Yuan's safety.
Thus, Mu Yan ecstatically went to receive his baptism.

At the peak of the tall tower, Qi Yuan yawned. "Finally, the Ancestral Blood Battle has come to an end."
Black Deer hurriedly said, "As expected of your insight, Heavenly Venerable! Mu Yan obtained first place!"
"Oh, is that so? Not bad."
In truth, Qi Yuan had not watched the competition. Instead, he either rested with his eyes closed or occasionally discussed the creation of the underworld palace with that online friend.
He had to admit that online friend was truly a kind-hearted person. He made seven slides for Qi Yuan as a proposal for constructing the underworld. Such an enthusiastic netizen was rare. The online friend even asked if he could join the underworld palace and serve as a minor underling once it was built. Qi Yuan agreed without hesitation.
Qi Yuan asked softly, "Since it's over, shouldn’t the Wall of Dong Jun appear?"
Black Deer quickly replied, "Yes! Please wait a moment, Heavenly Venerable."
Several Titled Martial Lords stepped forward. Vast, surging martial blood energy filled the air, and an ancient aura rose.
Qi Yuan sat upon the throne, filled with curiosity.
On the wall in front of the tower, a patch of crimson appeared, soon spreading across the entire wall.
Certain information appeared before Qi Yuan's eyes.
[The Wall of Dong Jun. Contains a single drop of Dong Jun's blood.]
Black Deer lowered his head. "Heavenly Venerable, I present to you, the Wall of Dong Jun!"
The tens of thousands of Martial Lords all looked at the wall, brimming with reverence.
One Titled Martial Lord’s gaze became complicated. "Dong Jun is single-handedly resisting the Great Catastrophe. Only a drop of blood remains outside, residing on this wall, allowing us to communicate with him."
His gaze reflected a mixture of self-reproach and unwillingness, the former stemming from his inability to help Dong Jun.
Black Deer said worriedly, "From the Wall of Dong Jun, we can glimpse a corner of the Great Catastrophe. We do not know how long he can hold on."
With a wave of his hand, a window-like opening appeared on the Wall of Dong Jun. Terrifying howls and roars echoed from within, causing one's soul to tremble.
When Qi Yuan looked over, numerous images poured into his eyes. He saw countless multicolored strands of light, their hues extending beyond what the human eye could normally perceive.
Each strand of light seemed to carry the greatest evil in the world, forming terrifying monsters that gnawed at space and devoured all things in existence. Within the monsters' enormous mouths, fragments of laws were ground into pieces, becoming part of the luminous colors.
The entire world appeared divided. On one side was a massive cluster of tangled threads of light stretching endlessly. On the other, stood a silhouette of a white-robed man. His appearance was indiscernible. The man stood in the void as if supporting the entire world. No matter how countless the threads of light and color were, they could not devour him.
Information flowed into Qi Yuan's eyes.
[Root Demon. An anomalous lifeform that feeds on all things in existence. Has extremely harsh birth conditions.]
Black Deer glanced at Qi Yuan, saying anxiously, "The monsters are not only growing in number, but also closing in on the Dawn Chime. If we cannot restart the world and resurrect his dao companion, I fear not even Dong Jun can hold out much longer."
Compared to the last time they saw this scene, the situation had become even direr. Still, with Dong Jun's dao companion revived and Qi Yuan's assistance, there was still hope of surviving the calamity!
Qi Yuan, however, appeared curious. "The Root Demon seems to represent all emotions in the world. Jealousy, greed, stubbornness... It’s somewhat similar to my Origin Divine Technique."
As for whether the Root Demon would defeat Dong Jun, he wasn't the least bit concerned. Everything in the world counterbalanced each other. It was only normal.
Black Deer glanced at Qi Yuan again, somewhat worried. "Your Origin Divine Technique is similar to these negative emotions?"
After all, that did not sound like something a good person would possess.
"What do you mean? Those are clearly positive energies! To some extent, envy drives progress and motivates people to improve. Lust promotes reproduction and increases the number of resources! For a world's Heavenly Dao, the more living beings the better! Isn’t pride also a kind of independence, a kind of backbone that allows martial cultivators to strive unceasingly?"
Black Deer felt that it made a certain amount of sense, but not much. The other Martial Lords also looked at Qi Yuan strangely. Even if they disagreed, none dared to argue with him.
Then, Qi Yuan turned to the figure resisting the Root Demon.
[Dong Jun’s Avatar: Saint Light Clan.]
