My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 447: Here Again
Faye Fisher grabbed Amina’s hand and pulled her close.
"I’m genuinely trying to help you, so why are you lying to me? Besides, do you really think you can fool me? Was it that scumbag ex-boyfriend of yours? Is he afraid that if you stay in Veridia after the breakup, you’ll ruin his plans and be an eyesore, so he won’t be happy until he gets rid of you?"
It had to be said, Faye Fisher was incredibly smart. She had a perfect grasp of human nature.
Her guess was spot on, but Amina couldn’t admit it.
Faye Fisher’s methods were too brazen. They were perfect for dealing with trash like her cousin-uncle, but she didn’t want to cause trouble for Zeke Walton.
"It really wasn’t him. We haven’t been in contact for a long time, and he’s not as bad as you think. I’m really grateful for your help with my cousin-uncle. Miss Fisher, my grandmother and I would like to treat you to dinner tonight."
Faye Fisher stared into her eyes, knowing she was being evasive. She was speechless.
’What kind of master manipulator was that scumbag? He played her, dumped her, and in the end, she’s still here shamelessly defending him.’
But, in the end, it was Amina’s own business. Since she was unwilling to talk, Faye wouldn’t press her.
"I just genuinely like you, and I don’t want to see you suffer or get bullied. I’m not after a free meal. You still have to look after your grandmother and deal with work, so I won’t take up any more of your time. Hurry back and get to it. I’ll come find you when I’m free."
Amina said goodbye to Faye Fisher and took her grandmother home.
Just a few hours of peace had passed when, unexpectedly, Linden’s family showed up again after work.
They had already learned from her cousin-uncle’s son that her uncle and aunt were in trouble. Panicked, they came to demand if Zeke Walton was behind it.
"I never would have guessed you could be so ruthless! That’s your own uncle and aunt, and you sent them to jail! And you said there was nothing going on between you and that man. If he wasn’t behind it, then how could they just... Amina, if we ask you for money again, are you going to send us to jail too? Is there no law in this world? Don’t go too far!"
Amina thought it was better for them to have this misunderstanding. At least this way, they wouldn’t have people back in their hometown bully her two brothers, and she would have fewer problems to deal with.
She said to Linden’s mother with a cold expression.
"Some things are best left understood, not said. After all, saying them out loud won’t help anything and will only cause trouble for yourself."
Her suspicions were confirmed. Linden’s mother looked at Amina’s cold demeanor, speechless and breaking out in a cold sweat.
’Amina is so vicious. What are we going to do? We already took her brothers’ house back home. Are we going to face retaliation tomorrow?’
The family of three hurriedly left Amina’s apartment.
They were filled with anxiety, worried about both their debts and the retaliation that could come at any moment.
As they were walking and plotting, they suddenly heard two familiar voices.
"Linden? Uncle Tate, Aunt Tate?"
The family of three looked up. It was Amina’s two good-for-nothing brothers, carrying travel bags. They had actually run over from their hometown again.
The two of them had taken the money from Amina’s house sale and gone back home to live the good life for a while.
They bought a few sets of decent clothes and even a house in town.
When word got out that Amina had snagged a rich man in the city and was now incredibly wealthy, her brothers’ fortunes rose as well. Matchmakers immediately started showing up at their door with potential partners.
If Linden’s family hadn’t suddenly run into trouble, interfered, and schemed against them, their marriages might have already been settled.
Seeing them suddenly appear, Linden’s heart skipped a beat. He felt a pang of guilt.
"Big Brother, Second Brother, what are you guys doing here again?"
"Don’t even ask," the older brother said, explaining to Linden’s family with a miserable look on his face how they had lost their house.
"We heard he’s Aunt Tate’s cousin from her side of the family, Linden’s own cousin-uncle. We came to ask for your help. Aunt Tate, a house is a huge deal. We swear we’ll never gamble again. Please, do us a kindness, put in a good word for us and get our house back. Otherwise, our whole lives will be ruined."
Linden’s mother pretended she was just hearing about this. She chided them for being reckless and gambling their money away, while also cursing out her own cousin for his lack of decency. They were from neighboring villages, how could he take their house?
She solemnly swore she would plead with her cousin, but then her tone shifted, and she started playing the victim to the two brothers.
"You think your lives are ruined? Our family is the one that’s truly ruined! And your uncle and aunt—they were arrested! Sigh, whoever gets involved with Amina has bad luck. How did that girl become like this? Your uncle and I were just about to ask for your help. Go plead with your sister for us. Ask her to be merciful and give us a way out. We’re a humble family, it’s not easy for us to make money. She’s driving us to our deaths!"
The two brothers were completely baffled, so Linden explained about the fire at their house, the millions they now owed in debt, and how their uncle and aunt had been arrested.
"It was definitely her man, Zeke Walton. He looks down on all of us from back home, every single one. He’s finding new ways to mess with us, and Amina is helping him! We’re going to die at his hands. Big Brother, Second Brother, if you don’t help us, we really won’t survive."
The two brothers knew Amina could be heartless. She had changed ever since she started working away from home. Forget about outsiders like them—she wouldn’t even lift a finger for her own brothers, would she?
If they hadn’t been clever enough to trick her into getting the house last time...
Hearing what Linden and his family said, the two of them were both shocked and resigned.
Although they hadn’t witnessed the full extent of the Walton Family’s power, they had gotten a taste of it last time. They’d been arrested just like that. They talked a big game, but they didn’t dare to go head-to-head with them again.
"Sigh, that sister of mine has been completely bewitched by that man. We can’t do anything about her. She won’t even help her own two brothers... But the Walton Family isn’t that scary. Back when our cousin-uncle was still around, he gave me an idea. He said if things got desperate, we could go to a TV station and expose them. Families like that are terrified of the media. Aunt Tate, Uncle Tate, if you can help us get our house back, we’ll help you contact a TV station. What do you say we take down the Walton Family together?"
Linden’s family’s eyes nearly popped out of their heads.
They were so bold! Daring to expose the Walton Family on television was something the three of them would never have even imagined.
But at the same time, hearing the brothers say it opened up a new line of thinking for them.
’That’s right. Why can’t we expose them? Are the rich the only ones allowed to hurt and bully people? Can’t we just tell the truth and demand some justice for ourselves?’
’That cousin-uncle was the smart one. It’s just a shame he got arrested.’
"I’ll definitely help you get the house back. We’re all family here, of course I’ll help! Once we bring down the Walton Family, I’ll personally go back to our hometown and mediate for you."
Linden’s mother said with conviction.
"So, Big Brother, Second Brother, do you know how to contact a TV station?"
