My Child and I Married a Billionaire

Chapter 376: A Visit to Scold

  • Next Chapter

Mrs. Walton was so amused by their words she wanted to laugh. "So what is it you really want? To force my son to marry your sister, or to get money? You might as well just say it."

This was the line they had been waiting for. The older brother and the second brother reined in their earlier arrogance, adopting a more negotiable tone with Mrs. Walton.

"Since your son is already with our sister, that makes us relatives, doesn’t it? We didn’t actually come here to fight with you today. We just want to get what’s fair."

"Your son has ruined our sister’s reputation, so he definitely has to marry her. We don’t have parents, just a grandmother, and she’s very old and a bit muddle-headed. You can’t discuss the marriage with her, so you have to discuss it with us. We’ve raised our sister for so many years; we can’t just give her to your family for free..."

"How about this? We hear your family is incredibly rich. Your house is worth hundreds of millions, your cars cost millions, and you have a big company. Since we’ll be family, you should at least buy each of us, your future brothers-in-law, an apartment and arrange a job for us. You won’t have to worry about us finding wives; we’ll handle that ourselves. The apartments don’t need to be too big, just enough for us to live in when we get married. As soon as you get this done, we’ll have our sister marry into your family. How about it?"

When she first saw them at the door, Mrs. Walton had thought they were fools. She revised her opinion now.

’They’re sharp ones.’

Trading one sister for two apartments in Veridia, two jobs, and lifelong care for their grandmother, all while claiming they were doing the Walton Family a favor by finding their own wives... if these two didn’t go into finance, it would be a true waste of their talent.

’They really have it all figured out.’

Before Mrs. Walton could say anything, the butler standing to the side couldn’t listen anymore.

"Who is your sister? The most beautiful woman in the orient? Or does she have some incredible talent? Do you have any idea how high real estate prices are in Veridia? Even if we bought you each a one-hundred-square-meter apartment out on the Fifth Ring Road, do you know how much that would cost? Do you know what the bride price is for a debutante from Veridia’s high society? Tsk."

"And you expect to work, get married, and have children in Veridia later? Are you planning to have the Walton Family foot the bill for all of that, too? You’re not marrying off a sister, you’re trying to get our master and madam to adopt you as sons! It’s ridiculous. If you’re going to dream, at least make it realistic. I’m embarrassed for you. I don’t know how you can even say such things."

The two brothers only knew that an apartment in their town cost a little over a hundred thousand, and one in the county seat cost two or three hundred thousand. They figured an apartment in a big city like Veridia couldn’t be more than a million or so.

They live in a house worth hundreds of millions and drive cars worth millions. Spending a couple million on their brothers-in-law should be nothing, right? And they’re not even willing to do that?

"What’s the meaning of this? Are you trying to back out of your responsibility? My sister has already been with your son; everyone in our village saw it! You want to go back on your word? You think we won’t dare go to the TV stations and expose you?"

The butler couldn’t stand the sight of their shameless faces and was about to argue further, but Mrs. Walton calmly raised a hand to stop him.

"I understand. I’ll make the arrangements. Leave your phone number here, and I’ll call you when everything is ready."

The butler was stunned. "Madam!"

"My husband and son aren’t home today, so it’s not convenient to have you over. I won’t invite you in. Please, don’t be offended."

Seeing that Mrs. Walton’s attitude was quite good—she hadn’t lost her temper and had been polite to them from start to finish—the two brothers let their guard down.

"When will it be ready?"

Mrs. Walton said, "Buying a house is a big deal. It will take ten days to half a month, at least. Don’t worry, I’ll be as quick as I can. Just wait for my good news."

Soon, the two brothers left.

Only then did the butler realize Mrs. Walton was just using a delaying tactic to get them to leave for now.

But shameless people like that would be back. They couldn’t just speak to them nicely every time, could they?

"Do you think I’ll give him a chance to come a second time?"

Mrs. Walton gave a cold smile and went back into the villa.

"I really should start managing Zeke’s love life. Have the driver prepare the car. I’m going out."

Soon, Mrs. Walton appeared at the apartment where Zeke Walton was currently living.

Zeke Walton had gone to work at the company, and Amina was out making deliveries. Only the nanny and the grandmother were there.

The grandmother wasn’t in good health and wasn’t used to living here. She often felt dizzy and had gone back to sleep for a nap.

When she opened the door and saw an unfamiliar middle-aged woman, the nanny was quite surprised.

"May I ask who you’re looking for?"

The butler answered for her, "This is our madam, Young Mr. Walton’s mother."

"Oh, it’s you, Madam. Please, come in."

The nanny respectfully welcomed them in and served them tea.

While the nanny was busy, Mrs. Walton quietly took a look around the apartment.

The apartment Zeke Walton had chosen was in the city center. It was in a good location, but it wasn’t large—only three bedrooms and one living room. He probably chose it for the convenient commute to work.

All three rooms were fully occupied.

From the personal belongings inside, she could tell that Zeke Walton and that girl were living together.

He was cohabiting with a girl behind her back and had even brought her grandmother over to care for?

’This boy... it’s like he thinks his parents are dead and can’t control him anymore. He’s already started playing house.’

To be honest, before she came, Mrs. Walton had felt very calm.

She thought Zeke Walton was just playing around.

Seeing this scene, her heart grew much heavier.

Growing up, Zeke Walton had never brought a single girl home.

Even when he was engaged to Simone Vaughn, he never brought her home or took her seriously.

But now, not only was he getting hot and heavy with this girl, becoming a laughingstock in their social circle, but he was also brazenly living with her...

The nanny finished pouring the water and invited her to sit, but Mrs. Walton remained standing.

"Do not mention my visit today to anyone."

The old woman was still asleep in the small room. The nanny had been about to wake her, but after hearing this, she was too scared to move.

"Madam, I don’t quite understand what you mean."

"You don’t need to understand. Just do as I say. What is that girl’s name?"

She knew she was referring to Amina and quickly told her.

"Do you have her phone number?"

The nanny quickly gave her Amina’s phone number.

Mrs. Walton said, "It’s nothing. I just came to have a look. You’re a smart woman. Go on with your work."

Mrs. Walton left. Back in the car, she dialed Amina’s number with a neutral expression.

The call connected quickly, and a clear, sweet, youthful voice came through.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

Mrs. Walton ordered a coffee and gave her address, which happened to be nearby. A few minutes later, Amina arrived.

She parked her electric scooter by the side of the road and called Mrs. Walton while looking around for her.

Sitting in the car, Mrs. Walton got her first clear look at the girl.

I have to admit, the girl was nothing like her two brothers. She was fair-skinned and delicate, much prettier than they were.

The genetic advantages of her ethnic minority heritage were on full display in her face—large eyes, a high nose, and a small mouth, giving her an exotic charm.

However, because her clothes were so plain, she didn’t exude a hint of sexiness. Instead, she radiated a strong sense of purity and cuteness.

No wonder Zeke Walton was so attracted to her.

If she weren’t a delivery driver, and if her two brothers weren’t so detestable, Mrs. Walton might have liked her for her looks alone.

But the cruel thing about this world is that there are no "if onlys."
