Chapter 792: The Clan Head Is Dead!

Chapter 792: The Clan Head Is Dead!

The guards approached the wagon with steady steps. They were extremely cautious, aware that it could also be a trap.

As they got closer, a strong scent of fresh blood hit their noses. All of them raised their brows at once upon sensing it.

“Be extra careful! We don’t know what’s inside. It could be a well-planned trap,” the leader warned, his expression grim and his forehead covered in sweat as the suspense grew heavier.

Even though the scent of blood filled the air, they couldn’t determine its origin. It could belong to a magical beast, a farm animal… or a human.

’Let’s hope this isn’t a trap. But this smell… it’s making me uneasy,’ the leader thought, swallowing nervously as more sweat trickled down his temple.

He gripped his sword tightly in one hand and approached the wagon slowly. He signaled the other guards to provide backup.

The guards followed suit, weapons in hand, surrounding the wagon from all directions.

If anyone were hiding inside for a surprise attack, unless he was far stronger than they were, he wouldn’t stand a chance.

“I’m going to uncover the contents. Be ready for anything…” the leader whispered before grabbing the thick black cloth covering the wagon.

“On the count of three! One…” “Two… and three!”

With all his strength, the leader yanked the cloth away. What they saw next left them completely shaken.

“T-This is…” the leader muttered, eyes wide in disbelief, frozen in place.

The other guards stared at the scene with horrified expressions. One by one, their weapons dropped to the ground.

The wagon was full of corpses—more than twenty bodies—all dressed in the distinctive robes of the Drake Clan.

The horrific sight sent chills down their spines. So many members of the clan… dead. Their blood soaked the wagon, and the stench was already turning foul.

Suddenly, a severed head rolled off the wagon and landed near the leader’s feet.

The leader stared at the head in shock. His heart skipped a beat as he recognized the face instantly.

“E-Elder Emrys…??” he muttered, completely horrified and unable to process what he was seeing.

“It’s him… It’s definitely Elder Emrys. But how could this have happened?” he said, picking up the head with trembling hands to get a better look.

“E-Elder Emrys?! No way! He was a powerful Magic Knight—a Magic Knight Lord, even!”

“This is… unbelievable! How could something like this even happen??”

The guards looked at the severed head in the leader’s hand with disbelief! They couldn’t comprehend how the elder ended up like this!

After taking a deep breath to calm himself down, the leader looked at the guards with a very serious expression. “Let’s look at the other dead bodies. They should also be from our clan.”

The guards nodded and began to identify the other corpses, and just as they started identifying, they froze in horror as they recognized the other bodies on the wagon.

“T-Th-The Clan Leader… is dead?!?!” The leader was horrified upon discovering that Enzo Drake was among the dead.

This discovery immediately shocked the guards. The situation became more gruesome as they confirmed that their Lord was dead—along with the Clan Elders who had left with him.

“T-This can’t be happening… H-How could the Clan Head lose his life? He is a legendary figure who has lived for two hundred years and ruled the clan…!” The leader of the guards staggered back from the shock and disbelief, completely dumbfounded.

He then looked at the dumbfounded guards and shouted, “Go and inform the Clan Elders and the Matriarch about this immediately! This is a very serious matter!”

“I’ll go.” One of the guards raised his hand and immediately ran toward the estate, his expression serious as he ran as fast as possible.

“This will be the downfall of our clan… The other clans won’t stay silent once they learn about this.” The leader muttered with a grim expression.

Inside the magnificent palace of the Drake Clan—huge and heavily guarded by countless warriors stationed all around—the sudden commotion attracted attention.

Seeing a guard sprinting toward the palace, the stationed guards looked at him with confusion.

“Why is that idiot running here with such a pale look on his face? Did he see a ghost or something? Hahaha!”

“Probably saw his wife getting screwed by a drunkard! Hahaha!”

The guards laughed and mocked the guard who was rushing toward the palace, pale and soaked in sweat.

“Make way! I have urgent news to deliver to the Matriarch!” the guard shouted as he ran.

Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, the guards immediately cleared a path, allowing him to pass without delay.

A few moments later, the Matriarch of the Drake Clan and the elders who had remained behind appeared shocked upon learning that Enzo and the elders who went with him to the Blank Clan were dead.

“A mere guard making such a bold claim! Are you out of your damn mind?!” one of the elders shouted furiously, refusing to believe the guard’s words.

“Outrageous! How could Lord Enzo and the elders die so suddenly? They are at the Blank Clan as we speak, arranging a marriage engagement between Young Lord Denise and Lady Aisha!” another elder said in disbelief.

“Matriarch Scyla, I’m really telling the truth! Someone left a wagon filled with dead bodies near the forest, and when we checked it, we found Lord Enzo and the elders’ bodies inside!” the guard shouted, panic-stricken, sweat dripping from his forehead.

“What?!” Matriarch Scyla immediately stood from the comfortable sofa as soon as she heard this, her eyes widening in disbelief.

The elders who were scolding the guard also swallowed nervously upon hearing this. They too appeared shocked and in utter disbelief.

“W-Where is it? We must go immediately and verify it at once!” Matriarch Scyla declared in a commanding tone, and the elders nodded their heads solemnly.

Shortly after, they arrived outside the gate, where they saw many dead bodies lying on the ground, covered in white sheets.

A number of guards had gathered around the corpses. As soon as the news about the death of the Clan Head and the Elders spread among the guards, they rushed to the scene.

“T-This is…” The elders looked at the bodies in disbelief. Yet, they still found it hard to believe that these corpses belonged to their own clan members.

After all, how could they suddenly believe that Enzo—the man who had once slain many dragons single-handedly—could die so easily? He was a figure of honor and strength, respected throughout the entire Holy Light Empire for his courage and might.

However, unlike the elders, Matriarch Scyla immediately dropped to her knees as soon as her eyes landed on a familiar ring on one of the corpses’ fingers.

It was the ring of her husband—Enzo Drake. She had never given this ring to anyone and had always guarded it closely. The moment she saw it, she knew. She broke down into tears.

“T-This can’t be… How could this happen??” she sobbed, waves of emotion crashing into her mind like a stormy sea.

She immediately crawled toward the corpse to confirm it with her own eyes. And when she pulled the white sheet off the face, her expression turned ghostly pale.

“NOOOOOOO!!!!” she screamed at the sight of her husband’s lifeless face. His eyes were still open, staring blankly at her.

The only difference was that they held no life—just like the eyes of a dead fish—colorless and empty.

Meanwhile, at the Blank Clan—

Yuan selected a powerful cultivation technique for Angela. A Divine Grade technique, to be exact. With this method, Angela would be able to cultivate faster and grow stronger in a short time.

Inside her room, Yuan had her sit in a lotus position after getting dressed, then retrieved the technique from his system storage.

“Grandma, this is your cultivation technique. It’s different from the one Aunt Aisha uses. This one will strengthen your body very fast,” Yuan said before handing the scroll to her.

“Thanks, dear. But what’s the name of the technique?” Angela asked with a quick kiss on his cheek, a curious smile playing on her lips.

“Well, that’s a secret—you’ll have to find that out yourself.” Yuan chuckled before exiting the room, giving her some private space to study the technique without disturbance.

“It’s time that I gave my second gift to my aunt, or she’ll be angry at me for keeping her waiting,” Yuan muttered as he headed toward the living area, a soft smile playing on his lips as he moved.

He retrieved an empty spatial ring from his system storage—this was the gift he had promised to give her. However, he hadn’t told her what kind of gift it would be; it was meant to be a surprise.

A few seconds later, he arrived at the living room and saw Anna and the others teasing Aisha. Aisha had hidden her face with her hands in shame, clearly embarrassed by their constant teasing.

Yuan smiled at the heartwarming scene where everyone was getting along quite well. Well… except for Selvariel, who watched them all with curiosity, a cold look still lingering on her face.

“Hubby! You’re back!” Xi Meili shouted, drawing everyone’s attention to Yuan, who was standing at the door with a small grin on his face.

She immediately jumped at him and began kissing his face aggressively, sniffing his scent and making weird noises.
