My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck

Chapter 79: That’s Called Being an Idiot

They followed the receptionist into the elevator and went up to the third floor.

A guide in a silver mask and black cloak greeted them and led Wen Qian and the others forward.

Heavy, soundproof doors were pulled open from either side, and the once-muffled music instantly blasted out. Dazzling lights pulsed in time with the thumping beat, inviting everyone to unleash their joy and passion.

This was the largest nightclub in South City.

Every night at nine, performers would take the stage one by one for musical and dance acts.

After ten, the opening acts ended and the DJ took over. People of all kinds writhed on the dance floor, bumping into each other and waving their arms. The scent of alcohol saturated the air, creating another world entirely, one filled with passion.

A tipsy Chi Ye was sitting with a woman in the most secluded booth. He was leaning forward, his hands wrapped around her slender fingers, his eyes brimming with affection.

Wen Qian took one look and couldn’t help but sigh. ’What a total simp,’ she thought.

As if sensing their gazes, the woman in the red dress suddenly looked up and waved energetically toward them.

She took a long drag from her cigarette before forcefully stubbing it out. Ignoring the man who tried to stop her, she stood up.

’So that’s Chi Ye’s ex-wife,’ Wen Qian guessed.

Panic flashed in the man’s eyes as he watched her stand and walk away. He shot to his feet to chase after her, but before he’d taken two steps, a hand clamped down on his shoulder from behind...

"Who the fuck is it?!" All traces of his earlier affection vanished as his eyes filled with rage.

The corner of Chi Heng’s eye twitched as he fought the urge to throw the man. "Your nephew."

Chi Ye was speechless.

And so, the nearly six-foot-three man was hauled up and thrown back into the booth. Faced with Chi Heng’s stern expression, he didn’t dare utter a single word.

His gaze then fell upon Yin Zhi and Ling Xuan, and he greeted them enthusiastically. "Long time no see!"

Yin Zhi closed his eyes, pretending he hadn’t seen him.

Ling Xuan just sneered and ignored him.

Wen Qian couldn’t help but stare. It was her first time seeing a wolf with a personality like Chi Ye’s. ’I thought everyone in the Wolf Clan was as stern and humorless as Chi Heng.’

As if sensing something, the man turned his head and finally noticed the girl sitting beside Yin Zhi.

Yin Zhi was very tall to begin with, so with Wen Qian sitting next to him, she was hard to spot unless one was actively looking.

Chi Ye’s eyes lit up with surprise. "A human?"

Noticing his gaze, Wen Qian subconsciously nodded. She discreetly straightened her posture, and Yin Zhi once again blocked Chi Ye’s line of sight.

"Well, well, well. Getting all protective now, are we?" The man smirked.

The words had barely left his mouth when he received a threatening glare from his nephew.

He immediately shut up. A moment later, his eyes widened as he stared at Chi Heng in disbelief.

’No way...’

’My own nephew... has a thing for this human too?’

Chi Heng said nothing, but the warning in his eyes became unmistakable.

He subconsciously glanced toward Wen Qian, but this time, before Chi Ye could get a clear look, Chi Heng grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and shoved him back down onto the booth seat.

"Why do you keep shoving me down?" Chi Ye complained.

Chi Heng sneered. "What do you think?"

"Fine... Why is everyone staring at me?" Chi Ye, completely oblivious, didn’t know when to quit. He just morosely picked up a glass and downed the half-full drink the woman had left behind.

After draining it, he coughed violently twice. ’Wow, my wife is amazing,’ he thought. ’She can handle such strong liquor.’

Ling Xuan shot him a look that screamed, ’You have the gall to ask?’ He glared coldly at Chi Ye. "Do you have any shame? How many times have I had to come in here to bail you out?"

’Now there are rumors that I’m just using my position as an excuse to come here and fool around!’

’I should’ve just let the boss sell Chi Ye to that rich businessman with the surname Lu. A wolf like him deserves to suffer the consequences until the day he dies.’

"I’m here for love. Are you?" Chi Ye asked, full of self-righteous confidence.

Ling Xuan: "Love, my ass!"

’Does he even hear the words coming out of his own mouth?’

At his words, Wen Qian’s hand, which was holding a glass, trembled, spilling some of its contents. Yin Zhi immediately pulled out a napkin and began to carefully wipe each of her fingers.

On the way over, Ling Xuan had told Wen Qian all about Chi Ye’s exploits, leaving her both shocked and speechless.

’The woman already sold him!’

’Multiple times!’

’And he still thinks this is love?’

"Are you sure it’s not just a toxic relationship?" Wen Qian finally peeked out, unable to hold back any longer.

"Of course not," Chi Ye frowned. "When we got married, she promised to stay by my side through sickness and health, for better or for worse."

"And has she done that?" Chi Heng couldn’t help but scoff.

"Naturally. I’ve been sold so many times, and every time I go back to find her, she takes me in again." Chi Ye puffed out his chest. "If that isn’t staying by my side, then what is?"

"You call *that* staying by your side?!" Ling Xuan’s eyes went wide.

Then, as if remembering something, a wave of dread washed over him.

He thought back to the Young Master’s own self-deluding rationalizations... Ling Xuan squeezed his eyes shut, trying to suppress the thought.

’Someday... the Young Master isn’t going to turn into this kind of Beastman, is he?’

"This is absurd! How did the Wolf Clan produce a love-drunk fool like you..." Even Yin Zhi couldn’t take it anymore.

Ling Xuan remained silent. ’Maybe *you* should take a look in the mirror,’ he thought.

He watched as Yin Zhi shot daggers at Chi Ye with his eyes, all while gently kneading Wen Qian’s fingers and thoughtfully calling a server over to get her a fresh glass of warm water...

Ling Xuan suddenly felt the urge to just leave the group chat.

"You guys don’t get it. I looked it up... her zodiac sign is just like that," Chi Ye said with a smile.

"Oh, let’s hear it. I’m dying to know which zodiac sign specializes in selling off their husbands," Ling Xuan said, resisting the urge to flip the table.

"See? Even you said I’m her husband." Chi Ye’s smile grew even more sincere.

Ling Xuan: "?"

"Could you please stop being so love-drunk?" Chi Heng was losing his patience. He understood every single word Chi Ye was saying individually, but strung together, they made no sense.

’Are these words a wolf should even be capable of saying?’

"If I could just say one thing..." Wen Qian timidly raised her hand. Under everyone’s expectant gaze, she explained in a grave and heartfelt tone, "Being love-drunk is when you’re good to someone and they’re good back to you. When someone hurts you and you’re *still* good to them, that’s not being love-drunk. That’s just being a moron."

Chi Ye: "Rephrase that. I don’t like what I just heard."

Ling Xuan: "Her words were a bit crude, I’ll admit. And also definitely not pleasant to hear."

"Understood," Chi Heng summarized. "He doesn’t even qualify as being love-drunk."

Chi Ye: "Dear nephew, that’s a pretty dirty way to insult a wolf."

"Your brain is filthy, but have I said anything about it?" Chi Heng replied coolly, crossing his arms.

They spent a long time trying to talk some sense into Chi Ye, but to no avail. No matter what they said, he could always come up with a hundred excuses for his ex-wife.

At one point, his ex-wife even came back, arm-in-arm with a man in a sharp suit, and said hello to their table.

Chi Ye shot to his feet so suddenly that Wen Qian thought he was about to flip the table. Instead, he rushed forward, latched onto the woman’s arm, and burst into tears...

’How utterly humiliating.’

Only after the woman left did Wen Qian learn that this was not the first time something like this had happened.
