My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck
Chapter 66: Shut Up, Green Tea
Hold on...
Why were they dragging her into their argument?
The moment that reproachful gaze fell upon her, Wen Qian really wanted to run.
’I want to go back to my bedroom, I want to lie down on my bed. If I just choose to go to sleep, maybe I won’t be bothered anymore...?’
"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Not getting a response from Wen Qian, the man’s expression darkened further.
Wen Qian avoided Yin Zhi’s gaze and frantically tried to signal Gu Mian with her eyes.
’Gu Mian, say something!’
The man seemed to have actually received her distress signal. The coldness on his face intensified. "Why are you making things difficult for Qianqian? If you’re angry, just take it out on me."
Yin Zhi froze for a second, then looked utterly shocked once he processed it.
’Hold on... When did I get angry at Qianqian?’
"You’re trying to drive a wedge between us, aren’t you?" Yin Zhi pulled Wen Qian to his side, his eyes full of wariness.
This time, not only did the man not reach out to snatch her back, but he also calmly picked up his cup and took a sip of water.
He raised an eyebrow and said coolly, "You’ve misunderstood. I just think that if there’s something you don’t understand, you can ask me directly. There’s no need to make things difficult for Qianqian."
His claws emerged slightly, almost imperceptibly, but quickly retracted. Yin Zhi was clearly holding something back.
After a long moment, he gritted his teeth. "Tell me, did you kiss Qianqian?"
When the man nodded, Yin Zhi immediately struggled to lunge at him. "You f*cking..."
Before his fingertips could even touch a single strand of the man’s hair, Wen Qian wrapped her arms tightly around his waist. "Y-Y-You... Calm down!"
Wen Qian was thankful she had reacted quickly...
’There’s a whole table full of food. If it gets knocked over, it’ll take forever to clean up!’
"I’m sorry, Qianqian. I just couldn’t help myself at that moment. I like you... I don’t know why he’s throwing such a huge tantrum." The man lowered his gaze, his calm and collected demeanor a stark contrast to Yin Zhi’s fury.
"A Mian, you don’t need to apologize..." Wen Qian replied subconsciously.
"???" His brain whirred frantically. After a long moment, Yin Zhi finally figured it out. He reached out to grab Gu Mian’s face. "Shut the hell up! You damn green tea!"
"Hey, you two... That’s enough!" Wen Qian was getting annoyed by their squabbling.
The main thing was, she really couldn’t hold Yin Zhi back anymore. She was afraid they’d start fighting again and tear her house apart.
Yin Zhi pressed his lips together tightly, his expression ugly. "You’re taking his side, aren’t you?"
"I’m not taking anyone’s side..." Wen Qian rubbed her temples. It wasn’t that she didn’t want them to argue, but could they please not do it in her house?
Recalling the last time her home was left a total mess, Wen Qian really felt like crying.
"Alright, I won’t say anything more. I don’t want to make things difficult for Qianqian." Gu Mian lowered his gaze and reached out to ruffle Wen Qian’s hair.
"How dare you get handsy with her right in front of me!" The man looked like he was about to fly into a rage again.
"Are you going to eat or not!" Seeing that they were about to start again, Wen Qian slammed her hand on the table.
"You’re yelling at me because of him now?" The young man’s eyes widened, and he looked as if he were about to shatter.
Wen Qian’s head was just buzzing. She closed her eyes, holding back her frustration. "I just want to eat a meal in peace..."
Yin Zhi was silent for a moment, the corners of his eyes red with anger again. "So you’re blaming me now?"
Suddenly, Wen Qian didn’t quite know what to say.
’Actually, whether Gu Mian kissed me or not has nothing to do with Yin Zhi...’
’Where is all this baseless anger coming from?’
’Could it be...’
Thinking of her previous suspicions, Wen Qian frowned. She could understand if Gu Mian liked her. They had met ten years ago, and meeting again after a decade—that feeling of being brought together by fate was always easy to fall for...
’But Yin Zhi... when did it start with him?’
"Your silence means you admit it, right?" His aggressive demeanor from before suddenly crumbled into a hurt expression.
For a moment, Wen Qian didn’t know how to answer. Just as she was hesitating, wondering if she should offer a few words of comfort, the man suddenly stood up.
He slammed his chopsticks on the table, stared into her eyes, and said, word by word, "Wen Qian, I don’t like it here anymore."
The next second, the man bit his lip, got up, and left.
The sound of the door closing wasn’t loud, nor was it soft, but it struck Wen Qian’s heart with a strange, tingling numbness.
She sat there quietly for a long time before she processed what had just happened.
’Yin Zhi just... stormed off in a huff?’
’Weren’t we just having a meal... How did it turn into this mess?’
"Qianqian." A hand clasped hers. Wen Qian looked up and met Gu Mian’s eyes. His tone was apologetic. "This is my fault. I can go and explain it to him."
"No, there’s no need." Wen Qian snapped back to her senses and waved her hands dismissively.
’If he tried to explain, who knows what would happen...’
She picked up another bite of food, only to realize she had completely lost her appetite. Putting down her chopsticks, the girl said in a low voice, "I’m done eating."
When Gu Mian was leaving, Wen Qian offered to walk him downstairs, hoping to catch a glimpse of Yin Zhi along the way.
But when she came back, she wandered around the entrance and even thoroughly searched the flowerbeds, but found absolutely nothing.
’He... really seems to have left because he was angry.’
Wen Qian was at a loss for a moment. Ever since Yin Zhi had moved in, he had never once spoken of leaving.
This time, he was clearly genuinely furious.
Returning home feeling a little dejected, Wen Qian comforted herself inwardly. ’Maybe later... he’ll come back on his own.’
"Sister, you couldn’t find the Young Master?" Li Jiu popped his head up from the sofa, his eyes sparkling.
"I don’t know where he ran off to..." Wen Qian rubbed her temples. Then her gaze fell on Chi Heng. "You’re still here?"
From what she’d heard from Yin Zhi earlier, the matter had already been resolved.
In that case, Chi Heng... had no reason to stay any longer.
The expression on the man’s face froze for an instant. He only hesitated for a few seconds. "I’ll leave right now."
He didn’t tell Wen Qian that because the commotion from the previous car accident was too great, his identity had been exposed and his home had been seized. He now had absolutely nowhere to go.
Watching the man push open the door and leave, the girl glanced sideways, her gaze landing on the youth’s innocent face.
Wen Qian sighed subconsciously.
She saw Li Jiu blinking at her, a half-eaten piece of apple still in his mouth. ’Sigh, her little bird might as well have had the words "sweet but clueless" written all over his face...’
Wen Qian spent the entire day sitting in the living room.
She glanced out the window from time to time, but there was never any sign of the young man.
That guy seemed to have really made up his mind; he didn’t come back, even by nightfall.
Wen Qian was getting tired of waiting. She sat on the sofa, leaning against Li Jiu’s small blanket, and was about to doze off when the sound of an argument in the hallway startled her awake.
As a woman living alone, she didn’t rashly open the door. Instead, she cautiously approached it to listen to the commotion outside.
"Was that a wolf just now?"
"Are you crazy? How could there be a wolf in our neighborhood..."
"But a dog’s tail doesn’t look like that..."
"Maybe some dogs just look like that... Stop letting your imagination run wild!"
"Hey, no! Come over here, I’ll show you..."
