My Apocalypse System Awakened Five Years Early

Chapter 95: Letting Everything Out

"You have to grow up, Mr. Murrow," Victor said seriously.

Klaus stared at Victor, unable to understand what he meant by that.

His lips dropped into a deep frown, and he slightly shifted in his chair before he lowered his gaze to the mask in his hand.

"Do you think that mask can hide you from the people who really want to find you?" Victor asked.

Klaus didn't answer and continued to stare at the mask.

"I don't know what you are planning to do with Maker Finance that requires such secrecy, but if it does, then you have to stop being at the forefront of everything. That is the only advice I can give you for saving my son from Bruma Syndicate."

"I am confused," Klaus said before he raised his head to look at Victor.

"To me, none of this makes sense because there are actions that I have taken which you are unaware of, yet it feels like you are the one who is right while I am wrong."

"Why?"

"I cannot answer," Victor said before he leaned back in his chair and turned his head to the books placed on the shelves.

"These books teach me law, person, methods, but what these books don't teach me is mind reading."

His gaze returned to Klaus, and he continued, "I don't know what you are going through, what you are planning, how close you are to achieving what you wish to achieve."

'Should I tell him?' Klaus wondered.

Victor was one of the few talented individuals that he wanted to recruit. But now he didn't think that Victor was suitable for the New World.

And because he had pretty much given up on everything to keep his son safe, Klaus believed that even if he told him, Victor would do nothing with that information.

Rather, it may actually make him more interested in Klaus's plans because if superhumans really do exist, then they were a threat to him and his son.

"It will be hard for you to trust what I am about to say..." Klaus mumbled.

Victor smiled in amusement and said, "I have heard that same line many times from different people, but none has managed to shake me. Trust me, I am far more strong-hearted than people think."

"I said that so?" Klaus smiled, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Do you believe that superhumans exist?" Klaus asked with his eyes narrowed slightly.

Victor chuckled. "I thought you were going to ask me something important and serious, Mr. Murrow."

"It is very important, and I am very serious," Klaus stated with a serious expression.

Victor furrowed his brows. "Of course I don't. Why would I believe in such childish characters?"

"Right..." Klaus mumbled and remarked inwardly, 'Exceed speed.'

The next instant, his muscles tightened and became much lighter, his body's weight decreased, and he felt his body become more agile.

He rose from his chair with a speed so high that air slammed onto Victor's face and the papers covering the desk flew away.

"W-What?" Victor stuttered as he stared at the empty chair in disbelief.

"What do you think now?" Klaus asked.

Victor immediately turned his head to him, and his eyes widened.

His heart pounded violently in his chest, and cold sweat slid down the back of his neck as he stared at Klaus with a stunned expression.

"Hmm?" Klaus leaned onto Victor's chair while holding its armrests and asked as he was just a few inches away from Victor's face, "What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?"

Victor gulped, his mind screaming in panic.

His lips shook violently as words escaped through them, "W-What are you?"

Klaus smiled bitterly and turned his head to the right at the desk.

Then he moved his right hand to the desk and said, "Look there."

Victor slowly followed his gaze and looked at Klaus's hand.

Klaus folded three fingers and the thumb, leaving only the index finger straight.

He placed its tip at the desk's surface and remarked inwardly, 'Exceed strength.'

His muscles hardened, his body's weight increased once again, and his joints felt much stronger.

He placed the briefest of pressure on his finger, and it dug right through the desk surface as if it were made from wooden dust.

Then he took his finger and placed it beside the hole before once again pushing it down with the lightest pressure that he could muster.

Victor watched him make two holes in his wooden desk with just his finger, and his face went pale.

He couldn't believe what was happening, and he had many questions in his head but no courage to ask any one of them.

How was something like this even possible? What about the science behind it? How was a human body able to produce such speed and strength? Those were a few of the many other questions crossing through his mind like an overflowing river with no dam to calm the waves.

Panic and fear rose in his heart as he tried to accept or deny the reality.

Klaus looked straight into Victor's eyes and said, "Calm down."

Victor instantly felt renewed courage coursing through him, and he confidently looked at Klaus's face before asking, "How did you do this?"

"By doing it?" Klaus shrugged.

"There is no grand reason behind how I am like this and how I can do such a thing. I simply am. Maybe you can say that I am one of the chosen ones, though I myself don't believe that to be true."

A few of his words instantly caught Victor's attention, and he asked, "One of the chosen ones? There are more people like you?"

Klaus nodded. "There are."

A thoughtful and somber expression appeared on Victor's face.

"But I haven't yet met them myself. I only know a person who has."

Victor frowned deeply. "Then what do you want from me?"

Klaus smiled. "For that, I need to explain everything to you from the beginning. Are you willing?"

Victor stayed silent for a good minute and then nodded, "I am."

"Good," Klaus said before he once again limited his strength and speed, walked over to his chair, and sat in it.

His lips parted, and he began to explain.

He explained how, about two months ago, something completely unexpected had happened to him. Out of nowhere, he had somehow acquired physical abilities that could only be described as transcendental. His strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and overall physical capabilities had suddenly risen to a level far beyond anything a normal human could ever hope to achieve.

At first, he had been confused and cautious about this sudden change. However, after testing his abilities and realizing just how powerful he had become, he naturally began thinking about what he could accomplish with them. One of the first things he did was use his newfound strength to earn an amount of money far beyond anything he had possessed before.

It was during that period that he came up with the idea of establishing Maker Finance.

He knew that simply having money wasn't enough to build the kind of organization he envisioned, and he certainly couldn't handle everything by himself. Therefore, he reached out to his friend and asked him for help. His friend, in turn, brought another person he trusted into the matter, and after the three of them worked together for some time, they eventually became partners.

Even then, however, he felt that something was missing.

With such extraordinary power in his hands, it was impossible for him not to think beyond money and business. He began dreaming of creating a better world, one that operated according to his ideals rather than the interests of the powerful. And as those ambitions grew, so did another, far more outrageous dream.

He wanted to become the king of the entire world.

Of course, he understood that possessing overwhelming physical strength alone wouldn't be enough to accomplish something like that. He needed people—capable people who could stand beside him, manage different aspects of his plans, and help him build something far greater than himself.

Once again, he couldn't do it alone.

Fortunately, with the assistance of a highly competent and exceptionally gifted hacker, he managed to obtain information about numerous individuals who could potentially become useful to his grand ambition.

The list included people such as Liliana Palmer from Global Summit News Channel, Trenton Schwartz from Hephaestus Technology and Powers, Clyde Rodgers from Terra Real Estate Group, Elijah Desdemona from the Desdemona Group, and Victor Frank himself.

Using the information he had obtained, he approached these individuals and helped them solve problems that they naturally would have been unable to overcome on their own. By doing so, he gradually proved his usefulness to them while also creating opportunities to recruit them.

So far, he had already successfully recruited the former three.

As for Victor Frank, the reason he had originally saved Ryan was because he wanted to use that connection to get Victor to join him. However, when he finally met Victor face-to-face, he quickly realized that the man didn't match his values or standards at all.

Victor wasn't the kind of person he wanted standing beside him.

Therefore, he had abandoned the idea of recruiting him.

Since then, he had accomplished many things that ordinary people would consider extraordinary. He had built connections, gathered resources, helped influential individuals, and even taken steps toward the grand future he envisioned.

Yet none of it had been enough.

No matter how much he accomplished, nothing could help him regain the confidence he had once possessed. In the end, despite everything that had happened between them, he had no choice but to return to Victor.

After listening through everything and asking occasional questions, Victor stared at Klaus as though he was something he couldn't understand.

A few seconds passed in silence before he said, "Do you know that you are a dangerous man?"
