Is he... apologizing to her?

Just then, the hand he had resting at her waist slowly loosened.

She was still stunned when Noah Drexler’s low voice sounded again.

"What you don’t like, I’ll slowly change." She didn’t like him forcing her, so from now on he could gradually get rid of that habit—but it would take time.

Because as long as he was facing her, he lost control far too easily, and once he lost control... he couldn’t quite grasp the line!

She froze, and instinctively turned to look at him, only to find that his handsome face was now filled with utter seriousness.

He was sincerely apologizing to her!

Her heart clenched, then softened at once, and she slowly spoke to him.

"I wasn’t trying to blame you. I was just angry that it’s clearly my problem, yet you’re always the one who has to shoulder it."

She might be angry, but she knew he wasn’t the one at fault.

Although she really did sometimes dislike his domineering ways, still... everything he did was for her, and everything he endured was also for her.

She had no right to blame him.

She could only blame herself.

Listening to her, Noah Drexler’s expression grew even more complicated.

He furrowed his brows, stared at her for a long time, then moved slightly and suddenly said,

"Summer Shawcross, you’re my wife."

She was his wife—if he didn’t shoulder things for her, who else would he shoulder them for?

As his words fell, Summer Shawcross paused. She naturally understood what he was trying to say. She was about to say something, but after thinking it over, all she could do was turn it into a sigh.

She lowered her gaze to his hand wrapped in gauze, couldn’t help but reach out with both of her hands and gently clasp his palm, then lifted her head to look at his face.

"Are you feeling any discomfort right now?"

He had tested the medicine earlier, so she was very worried that he might be having some bad reaction.

Seeing that she had finally cooled down and started caring about him again, the man’s thin lips curved slightly, and he said in a low voice,

"I’m fine."

"Don’t do this again." She glanced at his injured hand, unable to help the ache in her voice.

"Alright!" His Adam’s apple moved as he answered with remarkable ease, but Summer Shawcross still couldn’t help giving him a few doubtful looks.

Just as she was about to say something more, she suddenly stopped short.

A wave of pain she had long since grown accustomed to suddenly spread out from the area of her heart.

She jolted, shock flickering across her face...

"What’s wrong?" Noah Drexler quickly noticed something was off with her. A tense look appeared on his handsome face as he asked her in a low voice.

"It should be... about to flare up." Summer Shawcross paused, and, by instinct, pressed a hand over her heart.

This familiar feeling—she couldn’t be mistaken. It was exactly the precursor to the poison attack.

Back then she hadn’t understood, thinking it was just some physical issue, but now she had experience and realized it right away.

She just hadn’t expected that this time, the attack would come so much earlier again.

As she finished speaking, Noah Drexler’s expression also shifted, his brows locking tightly.

He hadn’t expected that the interval between her last flare-up and this one would have shortened so much again.

The next second, he abruptly took his phone out of his trouser pocket, about to call the doctor and have him hurry over when...
