Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return
Chapter 1804: Pretending Is Also a Skill
Chapter 1804: Chapter 1804: Pretending Is Also a Skill
Seeing Han Yan so calm, speaking as if somewhat reluctantly, the old Clan Leader believed even more that the treasure he presented was not worthy in others’ eyes, and the acceptance was merely out of pity for him, which moved him to tears again.
"God-man! What a pretender!" Ling Baobao knew exactly what Lady Mu was thinking, muttered to himself. In this regard, he and Han Yan were similar in nature, knowing each other well.
Just seeing the little stars twinkling in her eyes, he knew how much she was tempted; if someone didn’t give it, she’d probably snatch it, yet she spoke so reluctantly — if not a god-man, then what? But, pretending is a skill in itself.
"By the way, Clan Leader, where did this meteorite gold come from?" Han Yan asked.
"Just over ten miles south from here." The old Clan Leader answered.
Han Yan and the others exchanged glances; over ten miles south, wasn’t that near the transmission point? Yet, they found nothing when they arrived.
"Actually, this meteorite gold wasn’t discovered by me but by my ancestors of the Gai Family. Our Gai Family has risen and fallen, with someone becoming a priest over ten thousand years ago, establishing themselves in Guning Village. This piece of meteorite gold was found by the then Clan Leader, and it was said that others were also looking for meteorite gold nearby at that time. Only my ancestor was lucky enough to find a piece, which was passed down as a family heirloom.
Later, the family declined, and the Gai Family members had to leave Guning Village. Subsequently, someone else became a priest and returned to Guning Village, going back and forth countless times, but never found any treasure again." Seeing their doubt, the old Clan Leader added.
Only then did Han Yan and the others realize, no wonder they found nothing; the discovery of the Heavenly Stone by Gai Family ancestors happened over ten thousand years ago.
Recalling the old Clan Leader’s mention that people had been searching for meteorite gold in this area over ten thousand years ago, Han Yan thought of her own speculation — could the so-called transmission point really be the ruins of an ancient temple, with some array materials left after its collapse and demise? But why has she never seen any records? How did those ancient temples disappear?
Still preoccupied with Chen Xuefeng’s mentioned stone cave, Han Yan didn’t waste mental energy on questions without answers and left after bidding farewell to the old Clan Leader.
However, Han Yan didn’t take advantage of others as a habit. Before leaving, she asked Sikong Qinglan to bless the villagers of Gai Family Village, performed a god dance, and left a lot of silver taels and food. Her star disk space was large enough, so fresh meat stored inside wouldn’t spoil — it’s wise to be prepared.
Under Wen Gaoren’s supervision, Chen Xuefeng disposed of the bandit corpses. Though he saved his life, his injuries were impossible to heal in such a short time, so there was no worry about his escape. Of course, having seen Han Yan’s stunning sword strike earlier, he knew escape was futile.
To note, at that time, the person was already nearly a hundred meters away; even if a Divine Heart Priest intervened, the power would be greatly reduced at such distance. Yet, Han Yan’s sword strike power wasn’t affected at all, a fact he couldn’t comprehend with his knowledge of priest divine arts.
One thing is certain: with his own power, whether injured or not, he couldn’t withstand that sword strike — the faster he fled, the faster he’d die.
Han Yan initially wanted to search Mo Shiqi for anything useful; unfortunately, Wen Gaoren diligently searched the corpse burned to charcoal several times without finding anything and had to give up, burying it somewhere randomly.
As they left Ancient Family Village, dawn broke on the horizon. Sikong Qinglan held the Heavenly Guiding Compass and unexpectedly discovered a very small transmission point over twenty or thirty thousand miles to the west, which would save much time.
The transmission point over ten miles away was already marked, with a simple array set up. After two hours, they appeared over twenty to thirty thousand miles west, traveled a few days by carriage, and located the stone cave Chen Xuefeng had mentioned.
Before them lay desolation, akin to other areas in the wasteland. However, the biting wind was harsher; even with Han Yan and the others’ cultivation, breathing was difficult, and footsteps extraordinarily heavy. Fortunately, their priest robes were barrier-enhanced, and Wen Gaoren had performed repairs and reinforcement; otherwise, progress would be nearly impossible.
Mu Tu and Chen Xuefeng wore thick leather battle armor, with steel plates on vital areas. Though crudely crafted, it was sewn from layers of cowhide, resembling two large bears. Watching the deep footprints they left with each step, one could guess the leather armor weighed at least hundreds of pounds; had it not been for their formidable strength, wearing such armor would crush them before they could walk.
Before them lay weathered giant stones of varied forms, evoking an intense sense of desolation. This place was truly barren; not even refugees, let alone low-level Divine Heart Priests, could cultivate here.
"That’s where the cultivation technique was found," Chen Xuefeng pointed to the largest rock and said.
The giant stone was over ten meters high and wide. Due to weathering, it looked from afar like a ferocious beast, with a nearly meter-wide stone cave in the middle. Surrounding giant stones were similar, resembling a stone cave cluster.
"Is this the stone cave you mentioned?" Han Yan felt a bit disappointed.
Expecting a stone cave carved into a massive rock cliff, often the cultivation site of ancient strongmen, leaving behind their cultivation methods or treasures, only to find weathered stone caves instead.
"Yes, we sought such stone caves on the wasteland for shelter, to escape the wind and snow," Chen Xuefeng answered, leading Han Yan and others into the mentioned cave and pointing at a pit, saying the cultivation technique was excavated from there.
Han Yan examined closely; the pit was indeed artificially carved. Yet, observing the surrounding scene, it certainly wasn’t her imagined site of ancient relics or the cultivation grounds of senior masters; chances of striking it rich were slim.
"Oh?" Wen Gaoren suddenly exclaimed softly, his eyes showing surprise.
"What is it?" Han Yan curiously asked.
"There seem to be traces of sealing breaking here," Wen Gaoren pointed at the stone pit and said to Han Yan.
Han Yan bent down for a closer look, also surprised. Her understanding of the Divine Continent’s sealing and breaking sealing technique was limited, hence she hadn’t noticed any anomalies. But, listening to Wen Gaoren’s hint, she found indeed sealing breaking traces on the ground.
"What was your power level when you came here?" Han Yan asked.
