Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!
Chapter 622: Cecilia... Give Yourself to Me, Please...
In the past few days, it was always Wyatt who picked up Adrian Law for work and dropped him off again, because Wyatt had moved to a place that was too far from Starfall Bay, requiring a detour halfway across Stellerton. Cecilia Vaughn found it unacceptable, so she volunteered to pick up Adrian Law and bring him home.
Anyway, she’d finished most of her classes recently, and what’s left were mostly final assessments, leaving Cecilia with more leisure time.
Sometimes, she even visited the drama production of "There are branches on the mountain" to check on their filming progress.
Cecilia was quite satisfied with the male and female leads; the atmosphere was great, with none of the typical rumors of drama on set.
Director Chapman was even more enthusiastic upon seeing Cecilia Vaughn, not because of Adrian Law, but because they both happened to have a strong interest in Veridia’s ancient history, leading to enjoyable conversations.
Additionally, Cecilia had always been a fan of Director Chapman. They even specifically talked about the period film "You are the Sun and Moon in My Heart," and Cecilia had remarkable insights into the characters, which made Director Chapman increasingly fond of her, even extending an invitation for Cecilia to write the script for his next movie.
Cecilia had no time for that.
She didn’t really think she had such high skills.
"There are branches on the mountain" was her own work, and as the original creator of the comic, Cecilia had the heart and insight to adapt it. However, Cecilia felt she might not be qualified to handle others’ works.
Cecilia’s humility made Director Chapman more satisfied, considering how she was studying while revising scripts and creating comics, and might even have to visit Radiant Group for supervision. Director Chapman felt it was a bit demanding, so he specially invited Cecilia to participate in writing the music for the movie’s theme song if she had time.
Cecilia’s piece for the ancient zither, "Life," amazed many people in the circle upon its release.
Director Chapman thought it would be great to explore Cecilia Vaughn’s potential in this area.
...
In the end, Cecilia didn’t refuse Director Chapman, but she felt quite ashamed. Whether it was "Life" or "There are branches on the mountain," both were inspired three years ago.
Special situations and experiences gave her more inspiration.
Cecilia was also worried about running out of creativity, but fortunately, Director Chapman was particularly forgiving, saying she could write if inspired, or just consider visiting the set to have fun if not, always welcoming her arrival.
Cecilia felt grateful and quietly deepened her admiration for Director Chapman.
...
Reflecting on what happened at the set, Cecilia couldn’t help but smile as she went to Law Headquarters to pick up Adrian Law, cautiously holding his uninjured arm close and treating Adrian as if he were a fragile piece of glass art.
"Adrian, be careful of the steps."
Faced with such VIP treatment, Adrian Law was momentarily speechless.
"Cecilia, I’m not that fragile. It’s a shoulder injury, not a leg issue. You don’t have to be so formal."
"Can’t I just be nice to you?"
Cecilia Vaughn couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Adrian Law, then eagerly began bragging about her treatment on set.
"You wouldn’t believe it, when I visited the set of ’There are branches on the mountain,’ Claire Sinclair and the male lead worked so well together. I felt like my character was brought to life by them, truly fortunate!"
"And Director Chapman even specially invited me to play the male lead’s mother in the memories!"
"The male lead’s mother?!"
Adrian Law frowned. Out of support for his wife’s career, he had browsed through the original comic of "There are branches on the mountain."
This genre that appeals to women wasn’t really his cup of tea, but faced with Cecilia’s eager eyes, Adrian forced himself to skim through a few pages.
There happened to be a depiction of the male lead’s mother.
A momentary glimpse.
A character completely living in the male lead’s memories.
The beautiful like a magical Noble Consort, ultimately sacrificed by the Emperor who was both sentimental and ruthless.
Adrian didn’t care about the rest, but most importantly, he couldn’t accept Cecilia playing someone else’s wife in a film and then being discarded!
"Cecilia, you didn’t agree, did you?"
Adrian Law immediately frowned, involuntarily showing some tension.
"Pfft... Why are you so worked up?"
Cecilia Vaughn smugly raised an eyebrow.
"Could it be you’re jealous that an outsider like me can act too."
"..."
"No, I object."
Adrian decisively shook his head. Cecilia had no expectations of conquering the entertainment industry or becoming a famous idol, so Adrian didn’t want his family or loved one appearing in the spotlight.
Even if it’s just a trivial little role.
...
"You’re so resolute?"
Cecilia Vaughn, although she’d already predicted Adrian wouldn’t agree, was still shocked by his firm gaze.
"It’s not because you’re jealous that I’m playing the emperor’s consort, right? What if I was acting alongside you?"
Speaking honestly, Director Chapman indeed had this little scheme.
Cecilia Vaughn was beautifully spirited, with an air of nobility, while Adrian Law, in terms of appearance and aura, was an exceptionally rare man.
Such a pair of exceptional individuals, even without much acting skill, only had three to five minutes of scenes. Director Chapman felt confident he could use his exceptional camera language and visuals to portray a heart-wrenching tragic couple of the previous generation.
Moreover, director Chapman, out of his personal interest, thought it would be great to gain publicity for his film by having the Law Family’s eldest son graciously make an appearance for his wife.
...
Upon hearing Cecilia Vaughn’s words, Adrian Law shook his head decisively.
"No way, I would never fail you."
"But it’s just acting in a film."
Cecilia Vaughn stuck out her tongue, speechless.
The man stubbornly shook his head.
"No way, regardless."
Actually, Cecilia had already refused Director Chapman at the set, but she was still moved by Adrian Law’s words; was it because of the earnestness in his eyes?
...
While pondering, Cecilia drove back to Starfall Bay with Adrian Law.
Since Adrian’s arm was inconvenient, Cecilia took the initiative to cook for the past few days.
Her cooking skills were so-so, repeatedly making tomato scrambled eggs, but Adrian appreciated it and was always the first to finish.
Treating a patient like this made Cecilia feel guilty, so she became proactive today, asking Wyatt to put some fresh meat and shellfish in the fridge.
She planned to make a soup, for better nutrition.
...
Cecilia tied her apron, seriously following the recipe as she added ingredients, and once the lid was on, she smelled the aroma of the soup.
Before she had a chance to take a deep breath, someone hugged her waist from behind.
"Cecilia, what are you cooking?"
"Soup," Cecilia was about to answer when she was unexpectedly interrupted by a man speaking in a teasing voice.
"Cecilia, more than the soup, I’d rather eat you."
The girl’s face suddenly flushed red...
