Wyatt stood next to Adrian Law, feeling like a single dog, receiving countless heart-wrenching blows without even realizing it.

No wonder Adrian could win the heart of a beauty, being such a wife-doting maniac that even a straight guy like him couldn’t help but fall for it.

Uh, no, he only liked Adrian’s sister, Nancy.

Thinking of the late Nancy Law, Wyatt’s somewhat bright demeanor instantly became tinged with a hint of melancholy.

The person is gone, and the past cannot be chased.

Even with countless charm, whom could he share it with?

...

Adrian Law noticed Wyatt’s sorrowful and lonely appearance and immediately saw through the longing and grief in his heart.

Regarding his sister’s early passing, Adrian was also saddened, but every time in front of Wyatt, he felt he couldn’t show even the slightest bit.

The man reached out and heavily patted Wyatt’s shoulder.

"Wyatt, Nancy has been gone for five or six years now, you truly don’t need to waste your life on a shadow that’s already passed. You might not know, but your mother... sent me a letter recently, and later personally came to The Law Residence to find me."

Wyatt was raised at The Law Family since childhood, treated as a close bodyguard and attendant, but Adrian never looked down on Wyatt, rather, he felt a brotherly bond.

Adrian was momentarily stunned when he saw the hunched and timid silhouette of Wyatt’s mother at the entrance of The Law Residence.

Not knowing how to get to Starfall Bay, Wyatt’s mother had no choice but to go to The Law Residence to find him. Actually, Adrian didn’t live there, and Wyatt’s mother, having lived in the countryside from a young age, received limited education and couldn’t speak Mandarin fluently, appeared timid in front of the city’s most glamorous people.

If it weren’t for Butler White at The Law Residence having a good memory, coupled with Wyatt’s mother’s striking resemblance to him, she would’ve been stopped at the security gate.

...

Such a middle-aged woman, unwilling to come to the city even after her son became successful, but willing to travel alone to Stellerton for her son’s marriage, left Adrian feeling not only admiration but also a tinge of bitterness.

Apart from a few negligent parents, most love their children wholeheartedly, humbling themselves to the point of insignificance.

Even prideful Susan Roswell, Adrian Law’s mother, sacrificed a lot for her two children.

...

Upon hearing that his mother had visited The Law Residence, Wyatt was completely stunned.

"Adrian, you’re not joking, right? My mother... she’s never left the village. The last time I wanted to bring her to Stellerton to live with me, she refused, saying she was afraid of taking the train and also afraid of flying."

Wyatt couldn’t quite grasp how his mother would be willing to travel far for him, even never mentioning the matter to persuade him.

As a friend and a brother, Wyatt was extremely loyal, and as a son, beyond reproach. Despite living apart, he had built a seven or eight-story villa for his parents in their countryside home; calling them weekly, sending money and things were regular occurrences.

Originally, there was a housekeeper in their rural home to look after the parents, but his mother couldn’t adapt to outsiders entering her home, nor was she accustomed to a life being waited on, thus had dismissed the housekeeper.

If his mother wasn’t unwilling to live in the city, Wyatt hoped they could move when they were older. Wyatt understood most girls today are unwilling to live with the previous generation, but living in the same city was much better. He could certainly afford a house.

Over the years working tirelessly for The Law Group, officially only Adrian Law’s assistant, seemingly plain and unnoticed, yet multiple buildings in the suburbs of Stellerton were under his ownership, even grand luxury apartments in the city center were not lacking, he could live wherever he wished.

...

Adrian observed Wyatt’s bewildered and incredulous expression, patting his shoulder again.

"Is it that unbelievable? Parents’ love for their children considers deeply for their future. After all, parents of their generation supporting non-marriage beliefs are rare; she’s not worried about other things, just that you’ll be alone and uncared for when you’re old."

Wyatt was amused, almost wanting to say he’s not lacking money, is it so hard to hire a Filipina maid?

Seeing Adrian’s face gradually become serious, Wyatt obediently kept quiet, not daring to retort.

The man slowly spoke.

"You understand, Wyatt, Aunt came all that way to talk to me about... your marriage."

Adrian still remembered the old and anxious face of that rural woman.

— "Young master, I’m a simple person, not eloquent in speech. I also know, you’re a kind-hearted person, and your sister..."

Besides Cecilia Vaughn, no one dared mention Adrian’s late mother and sister before him, and this middle-aged woman wasn’t trying to be unlucky, merely had no choice.

— "I know, Miss Nancy was an extraordinarily good girl. When she was still around, I once secretly looked at Wyatt’s social media photos, never saw Wyatt looking at someone with eyes seemingly glowing, mouth grinning so wide that I guessed then my son Wyatt liked Miss Nancy."

— "But, when Miss Nancy was alive, Wyatt was unworthy of her, Miss Nancy is gone, Wyatt has wasted many years of youth, as a mother, I truly cannot bear it. Young master, I beg you to persuade him... I don’t know how to convince him..."

...

As she spoke, the rural woman’s face was awash with tears and snot, even attempting to kneel before Adrian Law.

Under normal circumstances, Adrian most disliked others doing this to him, liable to have them driven away.

But he understood Wyatt’s hardships the most and also understood that this weary elder wasn’t attempting to threaten him from a weak stance, just seeking help.

She truly had no other way.

Ultimately, Adrian could only let out a sigh and agreed to persuade Wyatt, then found a few sensible people to escort Wyatt’s mother back to the countryside.

...

Upon hearing Adrian casually recount his mother’s matters, a hint of tremor appeared in Wyatt’s eyes, his throat dry, the large man of over six feet quickly turned red-eyed, stubbornly not shedding a tear.

"Adrian... It’s not that I don’t know they’re doing this for my own good, but... I can’t move on."

In this world, with its splendid and colorful myriad things, how could you know the one you adore would suddenly pass away, leaving everything else seemingly devoid of color.

After experiencing the sea, other waters pale to none; apart from the sacred mountains, other clouds fall short.

Seeing Wyatt’s hand clench tightly and then loosen, Adrian earnestly patted his shoulder.

"That’s because you haven’t opened your heart to anyone, Wyatt. I’m not here to urge you to marry, I also bind by not settling, but you should know clearly you’re not a proponent of non-marriage."

"If you meet someone that causes you to reopen your heart, make an effort to take the first step, the rest, leave it to time and fate. If there’s no one, don’t force it."
