Chapter 1604 - 1591: As Far as the Eye Can See, It’s Forever: The One I Love Is You

The kiss came unexpectedly, and Violet Zimmerman hadn’t even reacted to what had happened.

Before... when she went to seduce him, she had kissed him herself, like this, but not as forcefully as him, as if he wanted to swallow her whole, pressing intensely against her lips.

After a few seconds of shock, Violet Zimmerman reacted, and the first thing she wanted to do was to push away the man in front of her.

Joseph Lancaster cooperated, retreating when Violet Zimmerman’s hands pushed against his chest.

With his hands gripping her wrists, the man’s eyes were red, "I just want to see you happy within my sight. Why is such a simple request so hard to fulfill?"

The man’s words were filled with powerless frustration. Normally, being kissed by him should have been alarming, but at this moment, all Violet Zimmerman could think was, "What happened?"

A sigh escaped, and Joseph Lancaster took a deep breath, "My older brother brought a woman home, forcing me to go on a blind date."

Violet Zimmerman...

For unknown reasons, seeing the man in pain made her feel a bit sympathetic.

"You don’t like that girl?"

"No, I don’t." Joseph Lancaster shook his head, his reddened eyes gazing directly at Violet’s, speaking word by word.

"I only like you, Joseph will never love another woman in this lifetime but you, my sister-in-law."

"Why?" A question she shouldn’t have asked slipped out.

Joseph Lancaster smiled, and the corners of his mouth curved beautifully, his hand on Violet Zimmerman’s wrist moved to her face, gently stroking her cheek with his fingertip.

"Because you’re my first woman, because you’re the mother of my child."

Her heart felt as if it had been hit by something, and Violet Zimmerman realized that if there hadn’t been a wall behind her to lean on, she might have been unable to stand.

Knowing it wasn’t right, yet hearing him say that made her heart flutter.

But despite the flutter, reason remained, telling her they were impossible, and shouldn’t happen.

"Joseph, you shouldn’t think like this. I am your brother’s officially married wife, your sister-in-law."

Violet Zimmerman spoke with righteous words, her wrist pulled to Joseph’s lips, gently kissed on the back of her hand.

"So as long as I can see you happy, I am fulfilled."

Meeting Joseph’s affectionate eyes, Violet Zimmerman didn’t know how to persuade him.

"No pressure, I won’t do anything, just don’t reject my concern for you."

After speaking, Joseph supported Violet as they walked into the room.

With her large belly, Violet walked slowly, and as he supported her from their residence to the old master’s place, Joseph thought a lot.

His brother’s insistence meant refusal was impossible for now, he had to agree temporarily and find a chance to persuade him later.

The dinner was lavishly prepared, with a table filled with chicken, duck, fish, and meat.

Emily Zimmerman came to the house for the first time to eat. The old master invited their whole family to his dining table, and Joseph, as the leading man, was also invited over.

Eleven people sat at the long dining table, and the old master happily opened two bottles of Moutai, every member of the Lancaster family except Violet Zimmerman and Aurora Lancaster had their glasses full.

Polite conversations were inevitable, and at the table on the old master’s side, drinks were exchanged frequently, leaving only Violet Zimmerman focusing on her food.

Emily Zimmerman did the same; as a girl not good with alcohol, she buried her head eating like Violet Zimmerman.

It was the first time the in-laws visited, so Daxton Lancaster, as the head of the Lancaster family, naturally had to entertain them enthusiastically, ignoring his wife Violet Zimmerman.

The table was long and couldn’t rotate, and some dishes Violet liked were out of reach. Though Joseph consistently raised glasses with the elders, when Violet eyed the plate of stir-fried bean sprouts, biting her chopsticks, he put down his glass and picked some onto her bone plate.

Watching Joseph place the bean sprouts in front of Violet Zimmerman, Emily Zimmerman pursed her lips, quietly tugging his sleeve, "I want to eat too."
