Joseph Lancaster began to get busy. Previously, he would come home when he didn’t have classes, but now, he goes to the company whenever he has time.

A twenty-two-year-old man, right at the age of youthful vigor, not only handles relationships this way, but work too.

Joseph’s performance made Daxton Lancaster very satisfied. Giving him a company to manage, he no longer had time to bother his own wife.

The most helpless thing in the world is wanting to undermine your own brother, someone so close, yet you can’t let a woman ruin the family harmony.

But if you do nothing, it feels stifling, so Daxton had no choice but to send his brother away.

Anyway, the family business will be divided for him eventually; this benefits both sides.

But in turn, Violet Zimmerman started feeling a bit unsettled. When Joseph used to come around often, she felt nervous, but now, after days without seeing him, something in her heart felt missing.

Luckily, there were several rabbits at home. Whenever she had free time, she would hold a little rabbit in her arms and mutter to it.

Just having taken over the company, Joseph was exceptionally busy. Whenever time allowed, he would personally involve himself in everything he could, with graduation approaching, while many classmates were busy looking for accepting institutions, he had already entered the workforce early.

He must seize this great opportunity, work hard to earn a lot of money, for the sake of his child, and his... woman.

He wanted to prove to them that even without his elder brother, he was just as capable of giving them the best, not allowing them to face any hardship.

For a whole half month, Joseph almost lived at the company. When he didn’t have classes, he went to the company, riding his bicycle back and forth daily without feeling tired.

Seeing Joseph treating work so seriously, Daxton was satisfied and gratified.

A man should be career-focused, women to men are nothing more than embellishments and necessities in life.

Not seeing Joseph for two weeks, Violet’s mood could no longer be described simply as ’disappointed’. Previously she would eat endlessly every day, but now looking at the fruit on the coffee table, she had no appetite.

Sitting alone in the yard, holding a leaf of lettuce in hand, she muttered to a cage of little rabbits, "Your owner doesn’t want you anymore, yet you still have the appetite to eat, such carefree hearts!"

"Sis-in-law, who are you saying has such carefree hearts?"

A man’s cheerful voice came from the yard’s entrance; turning her head, Violet saw Joseph was already off his bicycle.

With just one glance, Violet turned back around, picking up another leaf of lettuce to feed the rabbits, ignoring Joseph.

"Eat up and get fat, then I’ll stew all of you and have meat!"

Listening to the woman’s words clearly laced with emotion, Joseph parked his bicycle at the door, took the mesh bag hanging from the handlebar, and walked inside with a smile.

"Sis-in-law, no need to rush, when you give birth, they will surely be nice and fat. We can buy a hen then, and stew it all together, I hear it’s greatly nourishing."

With a thud, Violet threw the lettuce down, supported her heavy body, got up, and headed inside.

Watching the woman clearly giving him the cold shoulder, Joseph suddenly felt that no matter how tired he was, it was all worthwhile.

Over half a month, he got almost a full grasp of the company’s operations, and now, if he opened another company, he could manage it just as smoothly.

Joseph didn’t follow up because there were servants at home, certain things shouldn’t be too conspicuous, nor should anyone be suspicious.

After waiting a bit, Joseph then carried the bag inside, looked around but didn’t see Violet, and thus asked the servants inside.

"Where’s sis-in-law? Is she resting in her room?"

"Second Master, Madam just went back to her room," the servant replied respectfully.

Joseph nodded, casually raising the bag he carried in his hand, "I bought something to eat, I’ll take it up to sis-in-law."

Even if he didn’t say so, the servants wouldn’t dare stop him. Such a phrase was merely to avoid raising suspicion among them.

The young man stepped onto the stairs holding the railing. Upon hearing footsteps in the hallway, Violet deliberately turned over, facing away from the door.

"Sis-in-law, I’m coming in."

Joseph pushed open the door and went inside. Being a man of high emotional intelligence, he knew that speaking too sentimentally would bring pressure to the other party, so he asked in a deliberately light-hearted tone.

"Did you miss me these days that I haven’t come by?"

"Why should I miss you? It’s not like you are anything to me!" Violet said to the inside, her words full of dissatisfaction.

The smile at the corner of Joseph’s lips grew wider, he moved to sit on the side of the bed, propping up its board with one hand, while the other hand lifted the mesh bag, waving it in front of Violet, laughing as he asked, "Did you even miss the pork knuckles?"

These days, Violet’s appetite had been poor, at lunchtime she only nibbled a little, but upon hearing about pork knuckles, she suddenly felt very hungry.

Yet she refused to admit it, "No, not at all!"

"Really don’t want to eat? It’s delicious, from Wanbao Shun’s braised pork knuckles at the West City market; I queued for over half an hour to get them."

The smile in Joseph’s eyes deepened further, if only he didn’t worry about scaring Violet, he would love to hug her and give her a good kiss at this moment.

Violet secretly swallowed her saliva and inched her pillow further inside.

Of course, she could only nudge the pillow; her body was not convenient, she wanted to move but couldn’t as she wished.

"Oh, so sad."

Joseph Lancaster sighed with a tinge of regret and took out the braised pig’s trotter wrapped in oil paper, while talking to himself.

"Brought it back from miles away, and yet, sister-in-law surprisingly doesn’t like it. Looks like I’ll have to eat it myself."

Hearing the rustling of oil paper from behind, Violet Zimmerman suddenly felt wronged, turned her head back, and accused unhappily, "Is this how you do things? You said you bought it for me, but it’s just a pretense to let me have some. There’s no sincerity at all!"

Seeing the woman’s woeful look, Joseph Lancaster felt as if something filled his heart, and he handed the pig’s trotter on the oil paper over, smiling as he said, "Sister-in-law, eat quickly, Joseph is sincerely letting you have it."

At this moment, the man was thinking that if the person pouting in front of him was his own wife, he would certainly hold her in his arms and cherish her.

Violet Zimmerman gave Joseph a glance, then propped up her heavy body to sit up on the bed, pouting slightly with a sorrowful look. She took the pig’s trotter from Joseph’s hand and took a bite.

The pig’s trotter was just at the right temperature, not too cold, and very chewy in the mouth.

Watching the woman devour it with a gluttonous face, Joseph’s gaze softened, "Is it delicious?"

"It’s delicious, if you don’t believe it, try it too."

Violet Zimmerman brought over the pig’s trotter she had bitten, and Joseph also took a bite, with inexplicable deep emotions in his eyes, "Delicious."

"Of course it’s delicious." Violet then pulled back the trotter and continued eating.

Joseph Lancaster lifted the corners of his lips. When he ate the pig’s trotter just now, it was merely for show, he only took a small bite. Although the trotter was very fragrant, the taste lingering in his mouth now was that kiss he could savor for a lifetime.

...

"Family Head, you are back."

The servant came over and respectfully extended both hands.

"Hmm." Joseph Lancaster responded lightly, and passed the briefcase over while subconsciously glancing upstairs.

"Did Second Young Master come over?"

"Yes, Family Head, the Second Young Master came to bring food for Madam."

Daxton Lancaster didn’t say anything more, changed into slippers, took off his coat and handed it to the servant, then walked over to sit on the sofa.

Upstairs, a pig’s trotter had been almost finished by Violet Zimmerman, and when there was only a little left, she suddenly lost her appetite.

"I don’t want to eat anymore." Violet Zimmerman passed the pig’s trotter to Joseph Lancaster, "Too greasy."

Without saying a word, Joseph took it and started eating. An entire pig’s trotter, mostly gnawed by Violet, with all her saliva on the remaining part, yet Joseph wasn’t the least bit disgusted, watching the woman whose lips shone with grease; he ate up every piece she had left.

Joseph Lancaster placed the last piece of bone on the oil paper, then extended his hand to Violet Zimmerman, "I’ll help you wash your hands."

Violet Zimmerman covered her mouth and yawned.

"Don’t want to wash, sleepy."

Saying that, she lazily lay back on the bed.

Joseph Lancaster shook his head helplessly, turned and walked to the bathroom. In a short while, he came out holding a wet towel, sat by the bed, and first helped Violet Zimmerman wipe her mouth, then her hands.

Violet Zimmerman lay on the bed, letting her brother-in-law help her wipe, and as Joseph finished cleaning her left hand, she even cooperatively extended her right hand to him.

Daxton Lancaster originally didn’t plan to come upstairs, he just wanted to see when they would come down, but after waiting downstairs for a good ten minutes without seeing them, curiosity got the better of him, so he stepped onto the second floor.

Walking down the corridor, he intentionally softened his footsteps, and the slightly ajar door provided him convenience. Standing at the door, watching his wife Violet Zimmerman give the leftover bone to his brother, and then his brother wet a towel to help her wipe...

Witnessing the interaction between his wife and brother, Daxton Lancaster didn’t make any move, standing at the door with a faint glimmer in his eyes.

"Sister-in-law, you sleep, I’ll go back first. It’s graduation exams, I need to go back and review."

"Hmm,"

Violet Zimmerman responded lazily. As Joseph was about to take the towel back to the bathroom, she said, "Next time, I want to eat chicken drumsticks, they’re not greasy."

Joseph Lancaster stopped, looking at the satisfied woman, his eyebrows and eyes revealing an unconscious pamper, "Okay, I’ll buy them for you next time."

Outside the door, Daxton Lancaster’s slightly narrowed eyes tightened again. Every time he asked his wife what she wanted to eat, she always replied, "Anything is fine," but in front of his brother, she specifically asked for something delicious...

When Joseph Lancaster came downstairs, Daxton had already beaten him to it and was sitting on the sofa, holding a newspaper in his hands.

"Big brother, when did you come back?"

Joseph greeted him with a smile, showing no sign of any unnatural emotion.

Daxton looked up, casually placing the newspaper at his side, with a hint of a curve on his lips.

"I came back when you were giving food to Violet."
