Chapter 576: Chapter 565: Epilogue (3)

“I don’t care who they are! I’m gonna call my guys and have them killed right now!”

“Damn it, stop making a scene! That man is Quentin Grant and his wife! Do you have any idea who Quentin Grant is?! Do you?!” The man slapped the woman again, making the corner of her mouth bleed.

The woman’s ferocious expression instantly froze. She clutched her face, her own paling in shock. “Is he really the Sect Leader of the Grant Group? Is that woman really his wife?”

“I got a good look at them. How could I be wrong?”

“It was dark… I… I didn’t see clearly…” She was flustered. “Then what do we do?”

The man pulled out a cigarette. “Now you’re scared? What do we do? We take the two kids home first, then buy something and come back to apologize.”

The woman nodded. “We should apologize. Hurry, let’s take the kids home. We’ll buy something and come back.”

The car started and quickly drove away.

Meanwhile, Nora Ainsworth crouched down to look at the distraught woman. “You can’t save this marriage. You’d be better off living your own life. However, you might still be able to get custody of your two children back. After all, he was the one who cheated first.”

The woman’s head snapped up. Her lips trembled as she asked, “Can I really get them back?”

Nora Ainsworth nodded. “You can, but you’re not mentally stable right now, so a judge won’t grant you custody. After all, a sudden episode could endanger the children. What you need to do now is cooperate with your treatment, heal yourself psychologically, and get back to how you were before. Then, find a job to support yourself and your two daughters. If you go for custody then, your chances of success will be very high. A woman has to rely on herself. Making scenes won’t do any good. He wronged you, that’s his fault. But letting yourself become like this… he won’t pity you one bit. In fact, he’ll only despise you more. So, the most important thing is to work on yourself. Being a healthy, independent woman with dignity is better than anything else.”

Nora Ainsworth’s words were a wake-up call. The light returned to her once dull, vacant eyes.

Then, she suddenly threw her arms around Nora Ainsworth, breaking down in tears. “Thank you. I’ll do what you said. Thank you.”

“We’re complete strangers, but I’m more than happy to help you.” ‘Zoe Ellsworth dared to fight a man with a knife even while she was heavily pregnant. I’m not nearly as brave as Zoe.’

“Go home now~~”

The attendant helped her up, and she turned and walked away.

Quentin Grant hadn’t said a single word from beginning to end.

But he gave Nora Ainsworth a deep, passionate kiss.

When they parted, he cupped Nora Ainsworth’s face. “Wife, I love you.”

Nora Ainsworth smiled. “And how do you love me?”

He crouched down. “Hop on. I’ll carry you up.”

Nora Ainsworth obediently climbed onto his back and wrapped her arms around his neck. Being carried by him, Nora Ainsworth was once again filled with that warm, fuzzy feeling.

He carried her up the stairs, step by step, all the way to the bedroom, and set her down by the bed.

“Are you tired from our outing today?”

Nora Ainsworth answered honestly, “I am.”

He stood up and went to the bathroom, emerging a moment later with a wooden basin half-filled with warm water. Goji berries were soaking inside.

After taking off her shoes, Quentin Grant began to wash her feet.

Nora Ainsworth felt him holding her feet and couldn’t help but burst out laughing. “Haha, that tickles.”

“I meant to make it tickle.” He gently scratched the soles of her feet a couple of times, making her squirm.

The foot washing took a full twenty minutes. Finally, he took a towel and dried her feet.

When he was done, Quentin Grant went downstairs and brought a glass of warm milk up for her.

“Drink up. After you finish, we can get a good night’s sleep.”

Nora Ainsworth took the glass and finished it in just a few gulps, handing the empty glass back to him.

Just as they were about to get into bed, an assistant came up. “Young Master, that heartless man and his wife are here.”

“Send them away.”

“They’re insisting on seeing you.”

Nora Ainsworth waved her hand. “Quentin, let them in.”

Hearing this, Quentin Grant said to the assistant, “Listen to her. Let them in.”

“Yes, sir.”

Nora Ainsworth put on her slippers and walked into the living room. The couple had already arrived, bringing a bottle of expensive red wine.

Nora Ainsworth glanced at them. “It’s late. What can I do for you two?”

The man looked embarrassed. “Mrs. Grant, my wife was being ignorant and offended you. Please don’t lower yourself to her level.”

“I’m sorry.”

Nora Ainsworth smiled. “I’m not the one you should be apologizing to. And I’m not angry. You’re strangers, so it doesn’t matter what you say to me; I won’t take it to heart. But I do have a few things to say. As a man, if your marriage has broken down to an irreparable point, you should be the one to leave with nothing, giving the children, house, and money to your ex-wife as compensation. You shouldn’t force a woman to bear the consequences of your affair. That’s wrong, because no material possession can make up for the deep hurt you’ve caused. And as for being the other woman, acting so self-righteous is truly baffling. Are mistresses this arrogant because society has become more tolerant? Or is it a result of bullying others with borrowed power? No first wife ever likes the other woman, and you’re no different. You’re his current wife now; have you ever considered how you would feel if another woman did the same to you one day? Anyway, take the wine back. We don’t accept gifts. If you’re truly sorry, then treat the mother of your children a little better. If not for her merits, then for her toil. At the very least, she gave you two children, which is no easy thing.”

After saying all this, Nora Ainsworth felt a great sense of relief. ‘So many women in this world are deeply hurt by men but are powerless to fight back. How many women end up like that distraught lady, with no one to care for them?’

Seeing her resolute tone, the couple could only say, “Thank you. We won’t treat her like that anymore.”

Nora Ainsworth nodded and returned to the bedroom.

When Quentin Grant saw her come in, he gave her a thumbs-up. “Wife, I heard your whole lecture just now. It was brilliant. You have the air of The Grant Matriarch.”

Nora Ainsworth snuggled into his arms. “Quentin, let’s go back tomorrow. I still think our home is the best.”

“You don’t want to stay here anymore?”

“Mhm. As long as I’m with you, it doesn’t matter where or when. Everything is perfect.”

“Alright. As my lady wife commands.”

He rolled over, picked her up, and placed her in the indoor swimming pool.

The thick night grew deeper. Low, heavy panting and soft moans drifted from the bedroom—the melody of love.

They had met, known, loved, hurt, depended on, and reunited with each other. The road ahead was still long, but Nora Ainsworth and Quentin Grant would continue to walk it hand in hand, cherishing the small happiness that was theirs.
