Chapter 1774: Chapter 1774: Yue Siqing VS Jinjin Grand Finale (Part 2)

They really hadn’t waited for her; it wasn’t a joke.

"Aunt Jinjin, it’s all Daddy’s fault, he wanted to get it over with early." Little Youyou, all cute and sweet, was waving her tiny hand at her.

She stuck out her tongue and deliberately glared at Gu Annan. "I knew it would be like this."

This brother had never liked taking photos since he was a kid. Every time something like this came up, he just wanted to finish it as soon as possible.

Her sister-in-law also smiled beside her and said, "Jinjin, good thing you made it in time!"

"Uncle Yue!" Little Momo tilted his head, calling out to the figure coming in behind Gu Anjin.

Gu Anjin saw Yue Siqing’s shadow on the floor.

In her ear she heard Dad joking, "How did you manage to drag Yue Siqing back too? I did say this time it’s a family dinner."

"Uncle, she missed her flight in Morocco, and I happened to be nearby, so I brought her over."

"It’s fine, you’re family too. The old man has always treated you like a grandson to raise. It’s Annan’s son’s full-month banquet; it’s only right that you’re here."

Gu Anjin glanced at him. Family?

But in his heart, he probably had never really treated her as one of the Gu Family.

"Brother Siqing, why don’t you come take a picture with us too?" she asked tentatively.

But the reply was a cool, indifferent voice. "I’m not suitable. You go."

She really wanted to say a few more words, but as soon as her lips parted, in the end she let it go.

Just like she had in the car earlier.

"Is there some problem?" Yue Siqing looked at her.

Gu Anjin quietly took a deep breath, her smile stiff. "No. I’m going to have my picture taken."

She’d been overthinking it. Between her and Yue Siqing, there was never any question of whether she forgave him because of Huo Xun and Song Yi.

It was that Yue Siqing himself was rejecting her.

Maybe he regretted it—what he’d said about changing—and in the end he’d gone back to the starting point.

But she didn’t like that starting point; she never wanted to go back to that time again.

Gu Anjin tidied up the room she rarely had the chance to return to.

When she was about to go out, she looked in the direction of Yue Siqing’s room. In the end she walked over and, instead of habitually reaching out to push the door open, she gently knocked.

"Who is it?"

"It’s me."

The door was opened quickly.

Yue Siqing stood in the doorway, eyes lowered. "Can’t sleep?"

"I... can I come in?" Gu Anjin forced a smile and lifted her head.

"Whatever it is, say it here." His low voice answered faintly, with a cold detachment.

Gu Anjin’s fists clenched tight, her expression calm with a hint of a smile. "It’s actually nothing important. Thank you for coming over today, I troubled you. Brother Siqing, if you’ve got things to do, you should go ahead and leave first. I don’t even know where I’m going after this, but you don’t need to drive me. Maybe... I’ll just stay in Manchester."

After a moment, she heard his voice. "You’re asking me to go?"

Gu Anjin seemed to hesitate, but her attitude was firm. "Brother Siqing, whatever your reason was that day, even if you liked me for just that one brief moment. But do you still remember what I said? If you don’t love me, please stay away from me. I don’t have any other requests, just this one. I’m begging you, keep your distance from me. Maybe, after a long enough time, one day I won’t love you that much anymore."

Time suddenly felt endlessly long in that instant.

"Alright."

Gu Anjin bit her lip and nodded hard, smiling as she said, "Then that’s all. Good night."

*

Xie Nianjing’s full-month banquet wasn’t grand, but it was lively and warm.

Relatives and friends were all gathered at the Gu Mansion, including quite a few of Gu Anjin’s old friends.

The whole day, among the crowds weaving in and out of the Gu Mansion, she never once saw a trace of Yue Siqing.
