Chapter 322: Chapter 157: Grade 5 Spiritual Object ’Glazed Trout’, Innate Talent ’Water Avoidance’, Treading the River and Returning, an Advance on the Immortal Robe
But after hearing his words...
As Qii Zhao felt the sea breeze on his face, he could only think that this Duan Martialist standing before him had gone completely mad.
After sizing up the master and disciple over and over...
Qii Zhao suddenly sighed and waved his hand dismissively, as if he had just given up.
"Fine, fine, have it your way. If you say you can catch them, then you can catch them."
"You wanted to head out to sea from the ferry crossing, right?"
As the Ferry Leader of the East Suburb Pier, Qii Zhao tossed out a personal Iron Token.
"Holding this token is the same as me being there myself."
"Afterward, you can make use of any of the facilities at the East Suburb Pier—fishing boats, Spirit Nets, Spiritual Bait, whatever you want. Just don’t reveal who you are, and don’t make too big of a scene."
Judging from his expression, Qii Zhao clearly didn’t believe Ji Xiu possessed such Divine Techniques.
After giving his instructions, he wanted to go back and rest. After all, Duan Chenzhou had used a communication Talisman to summon him out here in the middle of the night for such a trivial matter, so of course he was resentful.
Duan Chenzhou wasn’t annoyed by this. He simply smiled.
Then he and Ji Xiu stepped onto the pier’s deck.
Just as Qii Zhao had said, with the token in hand, every Guard Team Ji Xiu encountered treated him with the utmost respect, not daring to show the slightest neglect, even though he never announced who he was.
Every Fishery Owner and boat captain he passed, upon seeing Ji Xiu with the token, would immediately unlock their stores and present their Spirit Nets and Spiritual Bait.
Even if they had already put out their lanterns for the night, they would relight candles and wait attentively at his side.
As he walked, holding the Dragon Head’s Iron Order, he watched as lamps and candles were lit one by one, illuminating his path across the pier...
Ji Xiu kept walking, his eyes on the vast, restless waves of the East Canghai. He couldn’t help but think to himself:
’Each fishery here supports tens, even hundreds of boats, along with their captains and hundreds of skilled fishermen. While the scale can’t compare to the major enterprises in Anning County...’
’The ’treasures’ hidden within the East Canghai are worth far more than all the silver coins earned by the businesses in Anning County.’
’Not to mention, the top Tributor for any given fishery has to be a master of Skin Refining, and most are experts who have donned the Immortal Robe. That far surpasses the standard for a rural county.’
’Yet a single Iron Order from the Ferry Leader is enough to make these masters disregard the late hour and attend to me with their full effort...’
’And that’s not even mentioning the Lord of Nine Professions above him.’
’It’s clear that being a Master of the Great Lineage comes with boundless prestige.’
A moment ago, his Master had spoken with absolute certainty, insisting that Ji Xiu would one day establish a foothold in Jiangyin Prefecture equivalent to his status back in Anning County.
Such words would sound like a fairy tale to someone like the Ferry Leader, Qii Zhao. Even Ji Xiu himself only dared to entertain such thoughts in the privacy of his own mind.
Which Grand Lineage in Jiangyin Prefecture hadn’t spent decades building intricate webs of connections and support just to put down roots?
How could a poor boy from a rural county, even one who had carved out a name for himself with his Fist and Foot, possibly hope to easily meddle in such affairs?
Yet his Master was absolutely certain.
His master had put his own neck out for him; it was a matter of pride now.
At this thought, Ji Xiu’s gaze sharpened. He couldn’t let his Master lose face in front of others.
So, facing the sea breeze and the moonlight, he gazed at the vast, rippling ocean and walked alone, past row after row of fisheries and their moored Upturned Boats.
The Fishery Owners and boat captains were left dumbfounded. They had seen the Iron Order and received the message: treat this young master with the utmost care, give him the best Spirit Nets and Spiritual Bait, and the Dragon Head would cover any costs.
"Young Master, you’re empty-handed! How do you plan to fish?"
One who was closer moved to untie an Upturned Boat, but Ji Xiu stopped him with a shake of his head.
In an instant.
Qi and Blood and True Gang surged through his meridians, fusing within his muscles and bones. The collision produced a torrential power, causing his shoulders to broaden like mountains. He became like a Furnace, a raging fire igniting within him and driving away the chill.
He tore off his shirt. His Twenty-four Section Dragon Bone straightened, and his broad back, covered in flawless, jade-like skin, was revealed. Under the moonlight, it seemed to glow with a faint luminescence.
There wasn’t an ounce of fat on him. Every inch of muscle pulsed with surging power, seemingly capable of shattering sinew and bone!
CLANG! CLANG!
The chained Upturned Boats knocked against each other in the wind, emitting a metallic drone. Then, with a single step, Ji Xiu—without bait or net—leapt into the sea!
"Ah!"
"Young Master, you—"
To the onlookers, his actions were those of a madman.
This nearly frightened the life out of the several boat captains who had been fussing over Ji Xiu, hoping to curry favor with the Ferry Leader, Qii Zhao.
They scrambled to turn to the calm-eyed Duan Chenzhou, their voices laced with panic.
"Sir, the currents of the East Canghai are treacherous! It’s full of rare Alien Species and dangerous tides—it’s nothing like the streams back in some rural county!"
"Unless you’re a Qi Cultivation Grandmaster, diving in there is asking for trouble! Please, call the young master back! If he just wants to experience fishing, he should have just told us. We could have taken him out on one of our trips..."
They had mistaken Ji Xiu for a rich, sheltered young master out for a thrill and Duan Chenzhou for his guardian. Assuming the pair were ignorant of the ocean’s fickle dangers, they pleaded with him.
But upon hearing them, Duan Chenzhou made no move to intervene. Instead, he watched as Ji Xiu plunged into the water, parting the waves, fearless and swift—even faster than a boat. A loud laugh escaped his lips.
