Mom's Back. The Villain Triplets Are in Trouble.
Chapter 205 - 204: Be the King Yourself
Chapter 205: Chapter 204: Be the King Yourself
They arrived in Europe a little after eleven o’clock at night, local time. After the long flight and the effects of jet lag, they were all a bit exhausted.
Outside the airport, Gu Qingyin leaned languidly against Huo Yunjing, yawning as she asked, "Where’s the car?"
Huo Xingchen sat on a suitcase, playing a game on his phone. He looked just like a little kid tagging along with his parents, without a care in the world as long as he had legs to follow them.
"It’ll be here soon." Chad frowned, furiously tapping away at his phone, his face a mask of discontent.
He had arranged for a car to pick them up before boarding the plane, but they’d been waiting for a while now and the car still hadn’t shown up. Chad felt it was a major loss of face.
After another five minutes, a fuming Chad called the butler.
The butler sounded surprised when he answered the phone. "Master Chad?"
"The car? Where’s the car that’s supposed to pick us up?!" Chad’s voice grew louder. "I’ve been waiting for ages! You’d better have a good explanation for this!"
The butler was silent for a moment before immediately apologizing in a pleasant tone. "I’ll send someone to pick you up right away. Please try to be patient."
"The driver hasn’t even left yet?" Chad scoffed. "What? Did you all think that bastard Amos was going to get rid of me? The only way I wouldn’t be coming back is if I were dead!"
"...My apologies, Master Chad. The helicopter is departing now. Please wait a moment," the butler said placatingly. "I’m not sure where the mistake was made, but we will give you a full explanation once you’ve returned."
Unappeased, Chad hurled a few more insults before angrily hanging up.
Gu Qingyin had witnessed the entire exchange, and thanks to her sensitive hearing, she’d heard more or less the entire conversation.
She commented dryly, "Maybe they thought you weren’t coming back, so they just ignored your request."
At her words, Chad’s face turned thunderous.
"Amos must be behind this! He’s wanted to get rid of me for ages!" Chad sneered. "I won’t let him get away with it. Only I can restore the glory of the Rote Family!"
Gu Qingyin silently took a step back. ’Chad’s decent-looking, but he’s not all there. The things he says are so cringey.’ It made her cringe so hard she wished she could turn invisible on the spot.
Thankfully, it wasn’t long before the helicopter arrived.
It was a good thing they were in Europe, where land is vast and sparsely populated. There was plenty of open space outside the airport; otherwise, there would have been nowhere for the helicopter to land.
They boarded one after another. The pilot saw three unfamiliar Asians get on as well but didn’t ask any questions, simply taking off into the air.
Ten minutes later, the helicopter landed on the helipad at the Rote Family’s manor.
A line of people was waiting just off the helipad. Leading them was a handsome man with shoulder-length hair, dressed in a vintage-style shirt. He looked like a Prince straight out of an old European castle in a movie.
Gu Qingyin discreetly sized him up.
Huo Yunjing leaned in close to her. "The man in the lead... his bloodline is already quite pure. He might even have the ability to transform."
Gu Qingyin’s interest was piqued. "How strong is a pure-blooded Werewolf?" she asked.
"They’re formidable in close combat, but they have almost no long-range attacks aside from thrown objects or firearms. They have great strength and their fur offers strong defense, but their stamina is average. They aren’t too difficult to deal with."
Gu Qingyin understood.
Huo Xingchen, trailing behind them, was getting anxious. ’What are Mom and Dad talking about? I want to listen too.’
Chad strode to the front, looking aggressive as if he were about to start a fight. But when he was actually face-to-face with the man, he merely craned his neck and glared, showing no intention of making a move.
Gu Qingyin pursed her lips. ’Coward.’
Chad didn’t say a word, but the man opposite him was the first to speak, his tone accusatory.
The "Prince" frowned, his face etched with displeasure. "Who gave you permission to bring outsiders here? You have no sense of decorum."
Chad’s bluster faltered, but he was still quick with a retort.
"What’s wrong with bringing my friends home for a few days? Didn’t you bring your classmates over? Don’t you forget, this is my home too! We have the same standing here!"
The Prince’s frown deepened. "You’re still so immature."
Chad’s face flushed red with anger. "Amos! Don’t you dare use that condescending tone with me!"
Gu Qingyin had a sudden realization. ’So this "Prince" is Amos.’
’Comparing the two,’ she thought, ’I have to admit, Amos seems far more likely to restore the glory of the Rote Family.’
’Chad... he’s lacking in both brains and brawn.’
Amos, clearly unwilling to waste any more time, gave a cold instruction. "You’re responsible for the guests you brought. You’d best have them sign a waiver beforehand. If any accidents occur, the Rote Family accepts no liability."
With that, he turned and walked away. More than half of the people standing behind him immediately followed.
"Stop!" Chad, furious, moved to stop him but was intercepted by a man in a vintage-style suit with a deeply wrinkled face.
"Master Chad, regarding the failure to pick you up from the airport on time, I have already investigated the matter. I am prepared to report my findings now."
Gu Qingyin realized, ’So this must be the manor’s butler.’
’He doesn’t seem to have much respect for Master Chad, either. In fact, he’s being rather dismissive.’
’Yep... he’s probably one of Amos’s people.’
Chad’s anger had reached a boiling point. He had no desire to hear any damn excuses. He was about to roar his refusal when he found he couldn’t open his mouth.
Chad was stunned. He forced himself to calm down, resisting the urge to look back. He turned to the butler. "I..."
’!!!’ Chad thought. ’I can speak again!’
The butler looked at him with a puzzled expression and asked with false concern, "Is something the matter, Master Chad? Are you feeling unwell?"
Chad cleared his throat and shook his head. "You may begin your report."
The butler paused for a fraction of a second, then smiled. "Very well. It was, in fact, just a small misunderstanding. The driver misread the date. He thought you were arriving tomorrow."
As soon as Chad heard this, his anger flared up again. ’An employee of the Rote Family? When has one of them ever made such a rookie mistake? What are they trying to pull? Are they so lazy they can’t even be bothered to come up with a believable excuse to brush me off?!’
A chill ran down Chad’s spine, and he was suddenly gripped by an intense sense of danger.
The butler before him suddenly seemed like a stranger. The manor he’d grown up in no longer felt safe. On the contrary, a bizarre atmosphere permeated everything, as if the estate had transformed into a giant trap, waiting for him to take one wrong step and be utterly crushed.
Chad masked the alarm in his eyes and put on an air of impatience. "If he’s that stupid, just fire him!"
The butler smiled apologetically but didn’t actually agree to his demand.
Chad couldn’t believe it. ’I don’t even have the authority to fire a single driver anymore?’
At this critical moment, it was Gu Qingyin who spoke up. "Are the guest rooms ready? I’m dead tired."
Chad snapped out of his thoughts and echoed her question.
The butler maintained his polite smile. "Of course. They’re right across the hall from Master Chad’s room. Allow me to show you the way."
The group finally entered the old castle. Along the way, Chad’s expression remained neutral, but his body grew increasingly rigid.
Once they reached their rooms, they parted ways and went inside.
Huo Yunjing had just finished scanning the room when there was a knock on the door.
Gu Qingyin sighed. She opened the door, and sure enough, it was Chad.
Chad stepped inside, shut the door, and looked as if he were about to burst into tears.
"All the servants in the castle have been replaced! What am I going to do? I feel like I’ve walked into a den of wolves! I never should have come back!"
Gu Qingyin was both exhausted and speechless. "You’re a wolf, too. What’s there to fear about walking into a den of wolves? Just take out the alpha and become the new pack leader!"
