MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 482: Pink Magnet?!

Chapter 482: Pink Magnet?!

Jack had never felt as good.

There was a flower on his left, and so there was one on his right. Both were Lilly; she just kept bouncing from side to side excitedly as she circled him with happy doggo energy.

“You’re kidding me, right?! Are we really going to…”

“Did I ever lie to you? Of course not!”

As Jack assured, her collarbone rolled in the cutest shrug. Lie? Never! Yet, he had a habit of understating things a bit, so even now, she didn’t know what to expect. And she absolutely loved it!

< Ding! Ding! First Train Departing Soon! >

< Please Keep Your Hands Inside! >

< Duck Jump Scare Warning! >

“Wait… what?!”

The latter felt super puzzling until one remembered there was a wildlife preserve in between here and the nearby-ish E-District.

At that moment, they were on a ginormous train platform buzzing with people. As far as the eye could see, there were happy people, depressed people, and even dancing people?

There seemed to be some idol filming nearby for some reason…

“Is this normal for a train station?!”

“The dancing or the ducks?”

“B-Both?!…”

Lilly was at an incredible loss, and yet she couldn’t help but grin, overwhelmed by the atmosphere. It felt so … lively! More importantly, she was here with her beloved brother!

She was already gunning for the magnetic train that had just arrived, eager to get on. Yet, even then, her gaze just kept drifting toward the idol flash mob nearby, entranced.

“Pfft— Wanna watch it for a bit?”

“But our train, it’s…”

About to depart? Yes. But so what? There would be another and they were in advance. In fact, the glowing lettering on the board even showed another train soon.

Jack casually pointed at it with a large smile…

< Slow-Lane Train Incoming Soon!>

“Slow-lane?! Isn’t that a train for old men?! Wait, I didn’t mean it like…” Lilly blurted out innocently, yet she wasn’t wrong. That train just wasn’t popular with youngsters.

Why take an hour for a run that could take 15 minutes at hyper-speed? It was just dumb, right? It was only liked by retired people with too much time on their hands… and Jack.

“Well, what do you know? I might be an old man, hehe!”

He playfully arched his back as if it was killing him, adopting an “I’m old” pose, her peerless laughter echoing. “Pfft— You’re way too young for that but fine!”

As she excitedly returned her gaze to the dancing, her eyes twinkled.

It was a world of pink… and black.

The idol girl was one of pink. Pink hair, pink ribbon, pink fluffy dress. She made the lively train station seem black and white in comparison. And then there were her background dancers.

Powerful-looking men wearing suits. In fact, they looked so powerful that they looked more like secret agents than dancers, their black shades fitting with their black getup perfectly.

And the whole thing was completely amazing…

“♫♩ Can you feel the beat? Can you feel the heat? Can you feel your soul burning? So many regrets. So many things I could have done better. But right now, I’m just a dancer! ♫♩”

The girl was shaking her ass to the sound of a busy train station, and yet even the words she mumbled under her breath were as rhythmic as melodic.

“♫♩ So c’mon baby, and dance with me! ♫♩”

Regular pop nonsense, and yet it wasn’t either? Her enthusiasm was contagious, so much so that a sweet Lilly nearby found herself sweetly dancing in unison, her tiny hands cheering.

’Oh god, my heart!’ She was so damn cute! She, who had always been the responsible and studious kind, was letting all her defenses down, a tear escaping Jack.

This was the BEST! This was how she had to always remain. Happy, cheerful, and simply Lilly! While he didn’t dance, he found himself happily tapping his foot.

But he wasn’t the only one. By now, a simple crowd had gathered, and they, too, couldn’t take their eyes off the spectacle as they muttered excitedly.

“Oh my god, that’s BEAT PINK!”

“Beat pink? Is she some idol or something?”

“What?! Didn’t you see her before? She’s a rising star!”

“I mean, for one to be a rising star, one has to be unknown before, right?”

“That’s kinda true. But you gotta watch her stuff! She danced atop a helicopter!”

The gossip was getting interesting, and yet that’s when Jack stopped watching entirely, his entire body tensing. Something was hella WRONG!

A man scurrying over. Trembling all over. Eyes bloodshot, hands shivering like cold snow. Actually, one hand was shivering, and the other was hidden inside a large pocket.

A plasma gun?! Jack instantly recognized the shape.

Hell, this was the same model Bubblegum had for her personal defense! IT WAS HELLA SERIOUS! And the man just happened to be hatefully striding toward the dancing girl.

“Jack? What’s up? What’s happening?”

“Don’t worry. Be right back.”

Jack quickly reassured the confused Lilly. She didn’t know what was happening, but she sensed his mood change, thanks to her recent martial training!

Yet, she simply nodded, her trust in him higher than the sky!

And with her blessing, he moved out!

Akin to a silverfish in cobblestone, he swam his way through the crowd, many complaining at first only to shut the hell up as they saw his gaze. It usually went like this.

“Who’s the bastard trying to push— never mind, Sir, have a great day!”

“Hey, wait your turn like everyone else in the— ah?!”

“Y-You, are you a cop or something?!”

He simply cruised through.

And yet, it wouldn’t be enough. He had barely cleared half of the crowd when the mysterious man suddenly cackled madly, evilly raising a silver plasma gun!

“Pink Beat? More like Pink Bitch! Take this, you—”

That was the last thing he said, a powerful tackle absolutely wrecking him out of nowhere. As for the gun, it did a few flips in the air before landing straight in Jack’s hand?!

Yet, instead of making a fuss, he just pocketed the thing.

Time seemed to stop, only to utterly EXPLODE!

“What the hell just happened?!”

“He had a freaking gun!”

“What?! FOR REAL?!”

People erupted with exclamations. A shocked idol losing her footing and falling on her plump ass. As for the “dancers”, they adopted martial poses and rushed to the mysterious man!

It was a HUGE MESS! And seeing this, Jack instantly darted away! Just in time, as the next train was pulling up! He led a shellshocked Lilly through the door, settling on a wagon.

“Oof, that was a close one. A few seconds longer and…”

Jack couldn’t help but sigh in relief as it seemed like the crowd had somehow lost track of him. And as he sighed, Lilly by the side couldn’t help but stare, shocked.

Had he just saved some idol’s life and run away?! Anyone else, absolutely anyone else in the world would have stayed behind. Glory? YES! Money? FOR SURE! Cute idol? DEFINITELY!

Yet, she totally failed to see the big picture.

Who cared about that? At that moment, he happily played with the plasma gun in his pocket. He wasn’t sure what model it was, but it definitely was hard to buy it legally!

For a “kid” like him with no gun permit, it would have been hell!

The only option would have been to turn to the black market, but why would he even bother messing with that crowd? Nope, he’d rather pocket a gift from the universe!

He even found himself whistling happily…

“♫♩ So c’mon baby, and dance with me! ♫♩” Damn, that thing was one hell of an earworm! He had barely heard it once, and it was already stuck in his head! Oh well, it was fine.

But just as he was happily whistling, he noticed Lilly’s weird expression…

“What is it? Anything wrong? What’s on your mind?”

“Hmm, are you a pink magnet or something?”

“What’s that even supposed to mean?!”

“Bubblegum and now this…”

This?! This what?! It wasn’t like there was any meaning to him saving that girl! He was simply a good samaritan that was all! Shaking his head, he clicked his tongue.

“Bah, get your head out of the gutter! We probably won’t meet her ever again. Besides, we have a gaming studio to set up. Did you forget about Pumpkin Gaming or something?”

“Of course not! Hehe, I’m just teasing you and—”

That’s when it happened. A disheveled pink being barged into the train wagon without regard for appearances. In fact, at that moment, she looked positively rabid.

And then, as if a zombie screaming for brains, she went:

“OHMYGOSH! Did you say Pumpkin Gaming?! Like the Demon King of Infinite?! Oh my freaking god! Is this real?! Please tell me I’m not dreaming! I’m not, right?! Right?!”

“…..”

“Called it, pink magnet.”

And Lilly had barely commented when the train’s door suddenly closed on them, a girl staring so much her eyes seemed about to fall off, with her breathing getting laborious.

< Ding! Now Departing! Enjoy the slow ride! >

God, this would be one long ride…
