MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 479: Ambush?! Don’t Care!!!

Chapter 479: Ambush?! Don’t Care!!!

The ambiance was jubilant…

Endless cheers resounded, lizards going mad with excitement as the gigantic portal started opening. They knew that the Lizardmen coming out of there would be their future!

They would lead the charge against humanity. They would bring them eternal glory, but most importantly, they’d massacre the bastards who had banished them from Infinite!

They couldn’t wait. They simply couldn’t wait!

But amidst the cheers, there was a certain lizard lady who was completely freaking out. ’There’s something wrong!’ those words resonated inside her akin to a mantra.

Lizzy had a bad feeling about it all.

Towering above the spectator area, there was the High Priest. And from him, she could clearly detect killing intent as he stared at the portal. He’d kill someone in there!

It was just her gut feeling, and yet she knew.

As soon as Jack would come out, the bastard would ambush him! He had shone far too bright, enough to even threaten the Shaman’s position. Thus, he’d deal with it.

But it seemed like she wasn’t the only one to have figured it out. A certain “friendly” lizard approached her, his sigh even bigger than the portal that reached the sky.

“He’s doomed. Or rather, there’s only one option…”

He, who had saved Jack once, had already come up with a plan. Out of nowhere, he took a dark, bloody brush from his backpack. — A Contract Brush!

Seeing this, Lizzy felt her heart shatter in pieces.

Slavery, was that the only option?!

It was. She instinctively knew it. If they went against the Shaman head-on, there was no way for any of them to survive. Submitting to his will was the only option!

Yet, she also knew. He wouldn’t. That white lizard of hers would never let himself be dominated. He was a free spirit. His will was eternal and his pride like no other.

Even now, the “friendly” lizard was still talking…

“As long as he makes a contract, then he’ll—”

She stopped him. She also made a decision. As soon as he came out of that portal, she’d defend him with all she had. Her plans had already failed anyway.

She might as well go out with a bang!

Also, who knew she’d ever feel like that? As she stared at the portal, all she could picture was his gentle claw ruffling her head or even his playful side as he kept teasing her.

She’d get thrown into a million acid vats if it meant spending more time with him, even if his soul was human. That’s when she realized she had turned crazy.

She got ready, as if an Olympic sprinter preparing for a sprint…

GLOW!

GLOW!

GLOW!

The portal was already opening.

A shimmer later, and it started spewing lizards like there was no tomorrow. And HE was the very first as if showcasing himself as the perfect target!

That’s when it all happened at once…

High Priest, Anti-Jack lizards, and Lizzy. They all darted crazily! They all rushed over, Lizzy outnumbered 1 to 50. In fact, her mad dash could even be called a suicide, many cackling.

“Yep. He’s completely screwed. Dead!”

“So what if he survived? Death to Arcane Lizards!”

“They can’t punish all of us for this! AVENGE LIZARDMEN!”

And even with portal sickness, a white lizard instantly noticed…

Was there even a way to bypass that crazy observation power of his?! But this only made it worse: he literally saw his death approach! Anyone else would have shat themselves.

He didn’t. He even wasted his last seconds of life.

Instead of running away. Instead of fighting back…. He glanced her way?! For an instant, her heart beat faster as she realized his first glance had been to her, TO HER!!!

But then she berated herself…

Who cares about that? “Jack, watch out!” She opened her mouth to scream, but it died in her throat. He already knew. Screaming wouldn’t do anything. She felt so helpless.

A claw reached his head, and as their gaze met for the very last time…

’Hehe, see, I knew you cared!!!!’

Why did he look so pleased?

Fool. The biggest fool! But why was she smiling too? No, she knew. As the killing blow landed, he finally seemed to notice his murderer for the first time.

And that’s when it happened… The world froze.

“WHAT?! Where are the others?!”

A High Priest suddenly exclaimed, utterly panicked. And as he gazed at the gigantic portal, he suddenly turned ashen. What was this?! What the hell was this?!

The countless Legions? There was none of it. In fact, no matter where he looked, there was only the 12th Legion. Also, why did they suddenly have 300 members?! There were more?!

But just as his brain was about to overheat…

“Others? What others? We’re all here.”

The white lizard’s sly remark made him freeze. And before anyone could even say anything, the portal suddenly started to disappear, too?! That’s when the sky seemed to fall.

“What?! Weren’t they dead last?”

“He’s saying they’re the only ones left?!”

“That’s impossible! How could 300 defeat 1300?!”

“The High Priest’s killing him, so it doesn’t matter!”

He definitely deserved to die for sabotaging or murdering other lizards!

They gleefully watched, with bathed breaths. Anytime now, they’d see his loathsome head rolling. A fountain of blue blood would splash as his lower body slid to the ground.

Except it didn’t?! As everyone seemed stunned, the white lizard showed the most confident smile ever. “How about it? Are you gonna kill Scaly’s only general?”

WHAT?! It was as if a bomb had been dropped. General?! As in the only soldier chosen to lead Scaly’s battalions?! Could it really be true?! And while they were doubtful…

“True or not, there’s an easy way to know. Kill me if you dare.”

Not only did he not defend himself, but he even stepped forward, a line of blue blood appearing on his neck. He was even taunting the High Shaman?!

Yes, he was. He knew how valuable he was right now.

There was not a single other lizard deemed worthy to lead. After all, all the previous leaders had gone insane and died after being corrupted. Only the more peaceful had survived.

Also, they had seen WAY too much in the Lizardgeddon.

Even if someone killed Jack, even if someone offered them the job, they’d feel too inadequate to even try. After all, they’d forever compare themselves to HIM!

That’s when the High Shaman froze, hesitating. What if he doomed his species all for a vendetta? He had to hang on to his power no matter what, but what was the best—

Just as he was hesitating, incredible Mana gathered and…

[Congratulations! Chosen as General!]

[Congratulations! Chosen as General!]

[Congratulations! Chosen as General!]

The announcement shattered the silence. Wait, if he only received the nomination now, then didn’t this mean that he had been bluffing before?! Holy fucking shit!!!

But before he could even react, a certain white lizard winked at him, already accepting the promotion, chuckling to himself. ’You win this one, Scaly…’

Heaven seemed to turn over, blue and white glowing light filling the entire realm, the same color as a certain lizard’s scales. And ALL of it congregated on him.

That’s when Jack suddenly felt an incredible surge of power.

“General? That sounds about right!”

[Stats Increased by 300%!]

[Gained a New Status Panel!]

[Congratulation! Strongest Player!]

It was all temporary, but at this moment, he didn’t care.

Mana crackling around his claws, he powerfully opened his eyes, his gaze landing on a certain Lizardwoman who felt her knees go weak. And then it got worse a second later.

“Now, shall we conquer a world?” He asked them, but he wasn’t really asking. No, he was telling them. It was time to escalate this thing once and for all.

It was time for one hell of a war….
