Chapter 472: Mightiest Wink!
Chapter 472: Mightiest Wink!
The explosion shook the Lizardgeddon…
At that moment all eyes turned toward the 12th Base, the battlefield at the 9th fortress freezing! For a brief instant, time stopped, but it was about to resume with a bang.
The 12th Legion members turned ashen.
They knew what this meant, this was their VERY last line of defense back at the base. And the enemy too realized it, the 7th leader raising his hands high up.
“Brethren, did you hear that explosion? The villain’s faltering! We don’t even need to fight here. We’re about to WIN!” his evil laugh spread across the battlefield.
Hearing it, a certain three-eyed lizard sighed as he rose.
In fact, he had just come back from another bout of Astral Scouting, his face as heavy as concrete. “Gentle lizards, it’s been a pleasure to know you all. Today, we die.”
He didn’t mince his words, directly telling them the bad news. To such news, the logical reaction would have been to despair even more, but they didn’t.
Some even erupted in peerless laughter…
“So it seems. Bummer, I wanted to taste the apples.”
“Same, but as long as HE remains, there’s still hope.”
“Guys, if anyone survives this. Please bring my ashes along.”
What should have been a gloomy moment had them glance at one another stating their last wishes, ones that all ended up being pretty much the same.
They wanted to be brought along. They wanted their bodies to feed their dream, even if it was merely as fertilizer for the orchards. They wanted to be part of something bigger.
But just as they were getting ready to die…
“With that said. WE FIGHT!”
He powerfully waved his claws, and suddenly something baffling happened. A semi-transparent screen of light appeared in mid air, the lizards gawking at it.
In the Lizardgeddon, even NPCs could open & see the system!
They all gawked at what looked like a translucent progress bar, one that was labeled “kills” not that they knew. The bar was about half-filled if they wanted to be optimists.
“See this? It’s a decree from our god. With every kill, it’ll go up!”
He gave them a bright grin, looking intently at them. He didn’t have to say anything more for the gears in their minds to turn. This was a godly decree?!
“What will happen once it’s filled?!”
“I wanna know for sure!”
“What if…”
Their imaginations went wild with greed, the simplest from of greed that bordered naivety. And soon silly appeared on their faces, only to be replaced by the incredible resolve.
They NEEDED kills!
They NEEDED to go out!
They NEEDED to leave this fortress!
That’s when the Lizardgeddon shook once more. The 9th Impregnable Fortress? Its gate literally exploded, the entire 12th Legion rushing out.
Seeing this, many gasped…
“Are they crazy?! They’re coming out?!”
“Can’t they see it’s 10 to 1?! They’ve gone bonkers!”
“That’s not all, look at the gate. They 100% wrecked it!”
They were going all out, no opportunity for retreat. The gate mechanism had gotten stuck so instead of taking ages to fix it they destroyed the whole thing from the inside.
Knowing this was the end, the 12th Legion rushed out, their eyes glowing red. Had they all turned into berserkers like Jack recently?! Yet even as they raged, they still had a purpose.
As if a gigantic spear, they rushed toward the previous explosion.
“Careful! They’re going toward toward their base! Everyone intercept them right now! Don’t let any of them get away. Massacre them all. They’ve lost their mind!”
The 7th leader shouted with the vocal strength of a baby on an airplane. Along with his shouts the Legions all moved as one! With this, it would be their victory.
In a head-on clash, they’d be victorious!
Bloodthirsty 12th Legion lizards were about to meet their doom in one epic clash, the battlefield rumbling from the fight’s expectations as if a titanic beast.
The shouts of the allies, the insults of the enemies, and the quaking of literally ALL remaining lizards trembling the ground at once.
It was earth-shattering and insanely loud!
The 7th Leader watched it all, a savage grin adorning his face. But then he started frowning as he cried out, noticing something an anomaly.
“Fuck, come back, they’re not going there at all! They’re—”
He tried calling out, but no one heard it, his voice drowned by the ruckus. Then, a second later, the 12th Legion changed direction entirely, the previous manoeuver a feint.
And as the 7th leader saw where they were heading, he turned ashen.
Was he going insane, or was the three-eyed lizard at the front even winking at him?! No, he freaking was! And that’s when he knew their new objective for sure.
Those bastards were coming for his head! Shit, this was BAD!
Fuck, fuck, fuck! He didn’t wait, already gesturing for the troops next to him. “It’s a beheading strike. MOVE OUT!” He had to put as much distance as possible!
As long as he could stall a bit, he’d be fine!
No, even that wouldn’t be enough.
As he glanced at their own fortress, he felt fear for the first time. This time, they were going for a suicide attack, or else they wouldn’t have destroyed their own defenses!
“Move, move, move! But that’s not all. We need to organize the counter-attack too! Hurry, you, you, you, and you: run to the main armies and tell them this…”
He hurriedly relayed orders for their troops to rush back and protect him so they could take their time to slaughter the enemies. And a second later, the messengers darted out.
Good. With how fast they were going, everything would be okay. It would be close, but his life wouldn’t be in danger. He’d live to triumph today and live to— He froze once again.
Why did it seem like the three eyed lizard was winking again, and laughing too this time?! Was he imagining things?! Sadly he wasn’t, a new traps springing up!
The initial charge? A feint.
The quick 180 degrees? Yet another feint.
Their true objective had been confusion all along.
The battlefield trembled. Endless shouts echoed, making it a chaotic mess. A bunch of lizards rushed toward the 12th base, and a bunch more now rushed back to the 7th leader.
In fact, they were so busy rushing everywhere like headless chickens that there was a beautiful moment of pure chaos on the battlefield, one that was so very perfect.
Grinning, the 12th Legion glanced at a translucent progress bar.
It was time to prove their devotion…
