Chapter 83: Chapter 79: It Seems You Were Really Hungry

Inside the command tent.

Lian and Kob, the scar-faced captain of the Southern Army, stood before a sand table, analyzing the situation.

Kob believed that joining forces with the Corpse Monsters to completely annihilate the Goblins was a good strategy, but Lian offered a different opinion.

"Yes, we have been secretly helping the Corpse Monsters, allowing them to smoothly penetrate the Goblins’ heartland and creating the illusion that the Goblins are an easy fight. This was all for a single purpose."

Lian picked up a small green flag and planted it in the West District 3 section. "To build the Corpse Monsters’ confidence, making them believe they can completely devour the Goblins and invade their territory.

"And we, while the Corpse Monsters’ own territory is undefended, will completely conquer their western heartland.

"Compared to the South District where the Goblins live, the West District, home to the Corpse Monsters, can connect with the North District we’ve already conquered. Why would we take the long way around just to deal with the Goblins?"

"You mean to say we should abandon helping the Corpse Monsters and support the Goblins instead?"

Kob asked.

"Befriend the distant and attack the near. The Goblins are in the south, directly bordering the Blue Moon Territory and Yusofa. Yusofa is already in Mary’s pocket. If Mary decides to wage war, Yusofa will become a springboard. We need the Goblins to act as our Gate, to hold back Yusofa at a critical moment. Even if they can’t be a main force, they can at least buy us some time."

Lian continued, "In contrast, the West District, where the Corpse Monsters are, borders the Wilderness. At the very least, we don’t need to worry about anyone attacking us through the Wilderness."

Lian turned and looked at Kob with a smile.

"Besides, if you want to eliminate the Goblins, our army would have to make a long journey from North District 5, passing through either the Corpse Monsters’ West District or the Skeleton Monsters’ East District, to detour into the South District. No matter which way we go, we’d alert the monsters in the forest. By the time our army reaches South District 5, we might be spotted by Yusofa’s scouts. And even if we defeat the Goblins, Yusofa’s army could show up to pick up the scraps. Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of an easy opportunity right on their doorstep?"

"At that point, we’d inevitably have to deal with the Southern Dominator, Mary, ahead of schedule."

Kob’s brow furrowed. He realized his strategy was indeed flawed.

He was completely convinced by Lian and, at the same time, inwardly admired Lian’s foresight.

’He had only thought one step ahead, while Lian had already thought three steps ahead.’

Lian nodded. "Correct. We must try to avoid contact with Mary for now. It would reveal our intentions too early."

"Lord Lian, do you have a way to persuade those wretched Goblins to help us guard the southern Gate?"

Kob asked.

"That depends on how strong their will to survive is."

The corners of Lian’s mouth turned up.

"Are you going to negotiate with the Goblins yourself?"

Kob recalled Lian’s incredible eloquence; even the notoriously stingy nobles of the Green Shade Territory had been willing to open their purses and deposit money.

"I’m not going to negotiate with them. I’m going to make them come to us for help."

A brilliant smile spread across Lian’s face.

"Have Robson come here."

Kob immediately sent someone to fetch Robson.

When Robson saw his idol, he excitedly placed a hand over his chest. "Lord Lian, you sent for me."

"Robson, how are you coming along with the task I gave you?"

Lian sat down in a mahogany-colored, high-backed chair. Sophie, having already put away the game board, stood by his side.

Although Sophie wasn’t as clever as Anna, she could still understand Lian’s intentions.

’It seems I won’t need to intervene in this war,’ she thought. ’The reason is probably to avoid attracting Mary’s attention.’

’The Guardian Witch’s duty is to protect the territory, not to wage wars of conquest abroad.’

’The North District is close to the High Wall, so it can barely be considered within my patrol range. But going beyond the North District to the South District would have the feel of a foreign expedition.’

"Lord Lian, I have followed your instructions and rescued a group of Goblin girls."

As he said this, Robson suddenly blushed.

Because he was so handsome, even as a Bald Warrior, he was still admired by the Goblin girls.

The day after he rescued the Goblin girls, many of them offered themselves to him.

Though they were just one-night flings, they had instantly broadened Robson’s world.

The popular Robson had grown from a boy into a man.

Lian looked at Robson’s slightly flushed cheeks and immediately understood what had happened.

His lips twitched. "It seems you were really starving."

And why wouldn’t he be? After being on campaign for so long, Robson and his group of Guards had reached the point where even a female monkey would look pretty. How could they possibly refuse the Goblin girls, who were so close to humans in appearance?

Besides, these Goblin girls were different from the Goblin males. They had large, bright eyes and classic oval faces. Aside from their slightly green skin, everything else about them was quite normal.

If Lian hadn’t given the order forbidding the Guards from forcing themselves on the Goblin girls and stipulating that everything must be based on the girls’ own free will, this group of female Goblins would have long since become living fleshlights.

How could Robson have been the only one to get lucky?

During this time, following Lian’s instructions, Robson would often take the Goblin girls to watch the Human Legion drill, show them the Legion’s various mighty weapons, and tell them stories of how the Human Legion defeated the Tree Monster Legion.

He made sure the image of the powerful Human Legion was deeply ingrained in the Goblin girls’ hearts, completely broadening their horizons.

"Alright, Robson. Bring those Goblin girls to see me."

"Yes, sir!"

Robson turned and left.

A short while later, a group of Goblin girls entered Lian’s command tent.

There were thirteen girls in total. The one in the lead even had long, beautiful purple hair.

Lian suddenly felt that his sympathy for Robson had been entirely misplaced.

’That kid must have been having a great time recently.’

"Lord... sir, thank you for saving us."

The Goblin girls all knelt on the ground, speaking timidly.

Facing the powerful Legion Leader of the Human Legion, they felt an oppressive aura.

"Rise."

Lian said slowly.

The Goblin girls stood up, their eyes glancing toward Robson from time to time.

In their hearts, Robson had clearly become their hero.

"Don’t be afraid. It was the Lord who sent me to save you, and it was the Lord who ordered the Guards to maintain Order and not harm a single Goblin girl."

Robson said with a serious expression.

Hearing this, the way the Goblin girls looked at Lian changed, their eyes filling with surprise and gratitude.

"I am very sorry for what you have been through, but Goblins and humans cannot live together. Therefore, I have decided to send you back to a safe place."

Lian said magnanimously.

"You’re sending us back?"

The Goblin girls looked at Lian, pleasantly surprised.

They had thought they would never be reunited with their families, that they would remain human captives forever.

Just like the Goblins in their own clans who abducted human girls, they never let a single female go.

Compared to the actions of the human army, the actions of their own kind were utterly shameful, making them feel disgraced.

"Yes, I will have my men escort you back safely."

"Our people treat humans so poorly. Why are you still being so kind to us?"

An innocent Goblin girl asked naively.

"Every race has its degenerates. I cannot condemn an entire people because of a few bad apples. At least in my eyes, you are innocent."

Lian’s gaze softened, and one by one, the Goblin girls’ cheeks flushed slightly red.

They even felt a little regretful for offering themselves to Robson so quickly. If they had known they would meet an even more perfect human hero, why were they in such a hurry?

"Robson, you will be the captain of the escort team."

Lian looked at Robson.

Robson nodded firmly. "Yes, sir! Lord Lian, I will definitely see them back safely."

"L-Lord."

The purple-haired Goblin girl in the lead mustered her courage and asked Lian,

"If... if we can’t defeat the terrifying Corpse Monsters, can we ask the Human Legion for help?"

Lian’s eyebrow twitched slightly as he looked at the purple-haired Goblin girl.

’Good question.’
