- Chapter 375
The entire magic academy shuddered violently.
Cracks like spiderwebs spread across the millennium-old Gothic buildings. Flocks of crows, startled from the spires, shrieked as their cries merged with the deafening rumbles.
Ansu could clearly feel an unimaginable torrent of mana relentlessly bombarding the exterior.
It was Celia.
As the two rushed to the academy plaza, Angelu glared fiercely at the Ansu following behind, his voice sharp with urgency and anger.
“This is all your fault! Get back to your research. I’ll settle the score with you later!”
Many professors and students had gathered in the plaza. Even the acting principal had “scuttled” out of the office building, his tentacles scurrying across the ground while his three pairs of compound eyes stared intently at the crumbling sky above.
“Someone is attacking the barrier from the outside? How were the academy’s spatial coordinates exposed?”
Angelu’s face grew increasingly dark. He truly wished he could take back his earlier boast... He hadn't expected the witch to actually find this place.
He could only bite the bullet and step forward to explain. “Principal, it’s like this...”“The Ash Witch? Is there a mage of such caliber in the outside world?” The acting principal was even more astonished. “It’s been over a thousand years. Isn't it true that there isn't a single Saint Tier expert left out there? Even high-tier mages are supposed to be rare, aren't they?”
Standing nearby, Ansu listened to their conversation. His mind suddenly drifted back to the feeling he had when Freya performed God-Descent.
She had said that with the blessing of divinity, the world’s surface was pulled back like a thin veil, revealing the surging energy pathways, elemental weaves, and the threads of spirits and souls beneath.
It was as if one could glimpse the very essence of how the world functioned. That was how the gods saw things.
At this moment, Celia was likely in a similar, perhaps even deeper, state. That was why she could see through the spatial rifts and pinpoint the exact coordinates of the City of a Thousand Stars, which had been hidden for millennia.
Angelu had lost his previous confidence. He looked at the acting principal. “Principal, if this continues, I fear the spatial barrier won’t hold against her continuous bombardment...”
“Wait a bit longer,” the acting principal said grimly. “She can’t possibly have infinite mana!”
Angelu could only stare at the sky, waiting in anxious tension.
But one hour passed, then two...
Not only did the mana bombardment show no sign of weakening, it grew even more violent.
The cracks in the buildings widened. Several corners began to collapse, sending rubble crashing onto the plaza with thunderous roars.
The surrounding professors were dumbfounded, their whispers growing louder.
“How is this possible... Who is she, exactly?”
Someone whispered, “This isn't even a complex spell; it's just a pure outpouring of mana. But this method is incredibly inefficient... How has she maintained it until now?”
“This defies the laws of magic!”
The acting principal’s expression was dark to the extreme. He murmured to himself, “This is the greatest challenge the academy has faced since the Norn Empire Encirclement Campaign and the Second Era's Demon Calamity War.”
Angelu couldn't sit still any longer. The spatial barrier seemed unbreakable, but theoretically, it could be destroyed.
He stared at the trembling dome, quickly analyzing the situation. “With such powerful energy concentrated on a single point and bombarding it incessantly, it could trigger a collapse reaction. It might even cause a spatial tear or a large-scale 【Annihilation】.”
In the past, he would have dismissed such a thought as fantasy, but after witnessing Celia’s absurd power firsthand, his confidence had long since wavered.
“Strange...” the acting principal wondered aloud. “Does she have a divine spark fragment? Is she a demigod?”
“Regarding that... Barcas previously believed...” Angelu wiped the cold sweat from his brow, pondering. “Celia shouldn't possess a divine spark fragment. She is just... purely powerful.”
“Hmph! Don't even mention Barcas to me!” The acting principal’s anger flared. “This is all the mess you two made in private! I gave you full authority over external affairs, and you're going to destroy the City of a Thousand Stars?”
The diverse group of teachers and students nearby all looked over, their whispers growing louder.
“Don’t just stand there!” the acting principal shouted, his voice rising to both scold and encourage the crowd. “What is there to fear! Even if she is a demigod, so what? We are divine dependents!”
He barked out orders. “We can’t let her continue like this. Activate the emergency plan! Power up all the war weapons! Open the barrier—we’re going out to kill her!”
...
Seeing that this group was actually planning to open the barrier and fight head-on, Ansu immediately slipped behind the crowd.
He quickly checked the time: October 18th, 7:35 PM.
According to his original plan, he had to hold out for seven more hours.
Almost there...
Just a little longer...
Ansu scanned his surroundings, wondering where Barcas had disappeared to.
According to the Goddess of Holy Light, that guy also possessed a divine spark fragment. He was a top-tier combatant, yet he had already slipped away...
Ansu’s plan was to let the darkened Celia wreak havoc, weakening both the academy and the demons. The more they killed, the better.
He hadn't expected Barcas to have such a strong sense of danger; the demon seemed to have become exceptionally cautious since meeting him.
Ansu walked through the academy’s long corridors, looking at the various grotesque teachers and students, silently hoping they could hold out a bit longer.
He looked up at the sky. Inside the previously dim barrier, lightning now flashed and thunder roared. Deafening booms crashed down wave after wave.
He couldn't help but recall the overwhelming hatred in Celia’s eyes when she woke up in front of the Filthy Heart in the South... That look was as if she wanted to tear him to pieces and devour him alive.
He really was the ultimate gambler this time.
Dancing on a wire...
Ansu took a deep breath and decided to find a place to hide for now.
Reasonably, an academy city that had stood for a thousand years should have proper defensive or shelter facilities.
He scanned a group of magic apprentices preparing for battle and called out to one who still looked somewhat human.
“Excuse me, Senior,” Ansu said with a sincere tone.
“Is there a place that can withstand the impact? Or... a good place to hide? I’d like to find a spot to lay low.”
The “Senior’s” two heads slowly turned toward him. The one on the left, with a shrill voice, rolled its eyes. “You coward! The principal has ordered us to engage, and you're already trying to desert?”
The one on the right had a deep, honest-sounding voice. “Don't be so hard on the junior... From the looks of it, he must be new. It’s been so long since we’ve had anyone new join us...”
He grinned, revealing rows of uneven, sharp teeth, and pointed toward the south.
“There’s a basement in the Rose Classroom behind the bell tower. It’s very deep and large. Usually, it’s just used for storing discarded magic items and junk. You can go hide there.”
“Thank you...” Ansu looked at the two heads and added, “Thank you both, Seniors!”
Following the directions, Ansu found the deep basement. A damp, musty smell hit him immediately.
He looked around at the cramped, dark stone walls and couldn't help but complain to himself.
“Didn't I just find myself a ready-made little black room...?”
