  7. Chapter 365

When he opened his eyes again, Ansu was already feeling a bit numb...

Celia's laboratory was still in the same messy state as when their meeting had just adjourned. Various ancient texts and instruments were piled haphazardly in the corners, leaving her alone, leaning over the desk and earnestly writing and drawing on her manuscript.

【Reality】

【Radiant Calendar: October 15, 625, 18:23】

【Evaluation: D+】

【Reward: Points * 12】

【Remaining Points: 153】

【The world is currently at the critical threshold of a major crisis. Host, please choose: Do you want Celia to inherit the memories and combat experience of this simulation round?】

【Yes / No】

The light blue system prompts hovered before his eyes, but Ansu's gaze fell upon Celia's earnest profile.

He watched her quietly for a long time.

As if sensing his gaze, Celia raised her head and locked eyes with his gloomy stare, freezing for a moment.

“What is it?” She put down her pen and slowly stood up. “Ansu, did something happen?”

Before she could finish, Ansu had already taken a step forward and pulled her tightly into his embrace.

The sheer helplessness of watching her die right before his eyes time and again, combined with the panic of potentially losing her forever, shattered all of his restraint and composure at this moment.

“Ansu, you... mmph...!”

Celia's eyes widened. Before she could even ask, he leaned down and kissed her.

It was a long, fierce, and desperate kiss, filled with an uncontrollable panic and a sense of weightlessness.

When the kiss finally ended, Celia panted heavily, her cheeks flushed crimson, her lips slightly swollen from the intensity.

She gently pressed her hands against Ansu's chest, flustered and bewildered. “What's wrong with you? Ansu, you suddenly seem so off...”

Meeting his gloomy eyes, Celia stiffened slightly, instantly putting the pieces together.

“Did... did you foresee it again?”

Her voice softened, laced with uncertainty. “Did we still fail?”

“Yes.” Ansu didn't offer a lengthy explanation, only nodding solemnly.

He released Celia, whose legs were still a bit weak, and turned to walk over to the desk. He picked up the stack of manuscripts regarding 【Etheric Blink】 and flipped through a couple of pages.

Then, his eyes narrowed as he activated his 【Mind Palace】 deep within his consciousness.

The grand, quiet library stood silently. He reached out and retrieved the magic scroll containing Celia's latest research findings.

In reality, his pen began to rustle softly against the paper as he transcribed the complete magic formula for her, bit by bit, from memory.

Celia leaned in closer to watch, her eyes growing brighter by the second.

“The name of this magic... is 【Astral Exile】? Could this be a new magic that I researched?”

“Indeed, you did,” Ansu explained, pausing his pen. “【Etheric Blink】 didn't work. Staying in the Etheric Realm isn't safe at all. In the end, Professor Duncan and several elders were still reduced to bloody scraps.”

“You determined back then that our only sliver of hope lies in traveling to the Astral Realm, where the gods reside.”

Staring at the complex runes stretching across the paper under his pen, Celia murmured, “The Astral Realm, which some scholars also call the 'Astral Spirit Realm,' is a pure, higher-level plane than the spiritual realm. It is entirely condensed from the philosophy and faith of the mortal world... Indeed...”

She subconsciously uttered the exact same words she had said in the simulation, before growing excited.

“The God of Clamor and Filth can't possibly reach his hands into the territory of the gods! This is definitely a feasible direction!”

She stared at the rapidly taking shape formula, her excitement building. Although this iterated new magic was still only a semi-finished product, its difficulty and depth far surpassed 【Etheric Blink】.

【Etheric Blink】 was merely a high-tier magic, but if 【Astral Exile】 could truly be realized, it would completely pioneer a brand-new Beyond 9th Circle magic!

Throughout the long history of magic, there were fewer than ten recognized Beyond 9th Circle spells. Those spells were capable of destroying heaven and earth, moving mountains and filling seas, or reshaping terrains and climates...

Or they were existences that could perform unimaginable miracles, even rewriting the very rules of reality...

To think she could actually touch this threshold!

“Don't get ahead of yourself,” Ansu stopped writing, looking at her ecstatic face with a bitter, shaking smile.

“Not only are the chances of success incredibly slim, but even if this magic actually works, the final result is exactly what its name suggests—exile! If we are truly exiled, we will be no different from those ancient demons forced into exile.”

He paused, his expression turning grave. “The Astral Realm has no stable concept of time or space. There are no magic coordinates we can use, and even mana doesn't exist there. Are you certain you can ever return?”

“Hiding is never a real solution. If the root problem isn't solved, we will ultimately remain nothing but ants at the mercy of others.”

“Ansu...” Hearing his pessimistic words, Celia sighed softly.

She could sense that Ansu's state of mind was off.

Perhaps facing her death and the deaths of everyone else over and over again while being completely powerless had pushed his mental state to the brink of collapse...

So, softening her tone, she smiled to comfort him. “Don't be so discouraged. One more path to survival means one more chance to win. We can take it slow.”

“We... don't have enough time left,” Ansu said gloomily.

With only four or five days remaining, it was simply not enough to turn everything around.

He had only 153 points left, which was barely enough for one 100-hour long simulation and one 10-hour short simulation... His opportunities were practically exhausted.

Ansu took another deep breath.

It was time to synchronize her memories of the previous round.

He felt incredibly helpless...

Before, he had believed that he would never easily synchronize simulation memories with Celia, and would never select 【Yes】 unless things degenerated to an absolute dead end...

And now, here was the dead end.

Even if he only synchronized this single round of memories, with Celia's intelligence, she would easily pick up on many of the 'tricks' of his ability...

But he was truly out of options...

Finally, he looked up at Celia, his tone serious. “Celia, no matter what happens next, don't be too surprised.”

“What?” Celia blinked, finding him a bit mysterious and eccentric.

Ansu stared into her eyes. “You might suddenly gain a lot of experiences and memories. Even though they never actually happened... this is my true ability.”

The options in his vision still floated quietly.

Without a shred of hesitation, Ansu selected 【Yes】.

In the next second, the confusion on Celia's face was instantly replaced by agony.

She suddenly clutched her forehead, her body trembling uncontrollably as countless scenes that did not belong to the present moment flooded frantically into her mind.

It felt as if several days' worth of heavy, lived experiences were being forcefully crammed into her head.

It took a full minute before the sharp pain finally began to recede.

Celia slowly raised her head, her gaze toward Ansu filled with astonishment and complex emotions.

The days and nights of intense research, the horrific deaths of Professor Duncan and the elders, the suffocating feeling of quietly waiting for death, and her own forced, lighthearted farewell at the end...

But what amazed her most at this moment was still Ansu's ability.
