Chapter 1386: My Bad

  • Next Chapter

The others stepped forward, with Lora Vake going next. She presented fifteen items, the number alone exceeding the five that Jerry had brought out. Jerry, standing at the side, simply smiled and said nothing, knowing that his decision to go first had been the best.

The Deceiver of Laws stepped forward this time. As he inspected the items and artefacts, there was no Law humming in the air or around his body, as though he didn’t want anyone to know which Law he comprehended.

Depending on the depth of one’s Law comprehension, it was possible to erase traces of one’s Laws from the air when using them. It was essentially the same way Anthony had dealt with the woman who had poisoned him back at the inn located in the River of Night Territory.

The man moved between the items, stating their names, effects, and other relevant details. After a moment, Lora chose her four items, leaving the rest to the Sect before stepping back and allowing Chu Feng to step forward.

Chu Feng already knew the names and effects of the items and rewards he possessed. After all, the Old Man could see through everything and anything, with the sole exception of Null Anthony.

Chu Feng brought out fifty items, the gap between his collection and Lora Vake’s staggering. These items and treasures didn’t mean they had visited fifty different domains within the Sleeping Hollow, as some places offered more than a single reward.

The staggering number of treasures raised eyebrows among everyone present, and they couldn’t help but wonder how many people Chu Feng had robbed back in the Sleeping Hollow.

Chu Feng simply smiled, offering no explanation to anyone. He neither confirmed nor denied anything. Not that anything would happen even if he admitted to killing a few random disciples.

The Decipherer of the Heavens worked his magic again, and Chu Feng was allowed to take eleven artefacts before walking back. He had already made his choices from the very beginning, without needing to wait for the items to be introduced and explained.

Among the fifty items he had brought out, one was a Genesis Grade artefact, which was a huge boon for the Sect. They were surprised that Chu Feng hadn’t taken it, but he simply explained that the Sect needed it more than he did. And he was indeed right.

Tory Hale was next, his own items and treasures appearing across the ground. Their number was roughly the same as the number Chu Feng had obtained. However, there was no Genesis Grade artefact among them, as Genesis Grade artefacts were rare and not something one could expect to find among random items.

After a moment, it was Anthony’s turn. All eyes were fixed on him as they wondered what he would bring out. After all, he hadn’t discussed the contents of his rewards with the Above Disciples back at the River of Night inn.

Anthony smiled as he waved his hand. With that, the corpse of the Silent Annihilator and the Genesis Grade purple trident appeared. At their appearance, almost everyone dropped to their knees, with the Above Disciples collapsing first. The Core Elders’ presence flared, their Laws coming alive as they remained standing, but even they felt the weight.

Null Nathaniel remained seated without a change in expression. He sat indifferently, as the presence didn’t affect him the way it affected the others.

"Is that..."

The Punisher spoke, but before he could finish his words, Anthony cut him off as he answered.

"Yes, it’s the perfectly preserved corpse of an Eternal Apex from thousands of years ago, obtained from the Sleeping Hollow."

His tone was calm as he wore a small smile. His eyes shifted towards the Above Disciples as he spoke once more.

"My bad."

He apologised calmly as he waved his hand. With that motion, the pressure emanating from the Eternal Apex vanished immediately.

The Above Disciples rose to their feet, staggering backwards for a moment. The pressure of an Eternal Apex wasn’t something easy to withstand, even if the being was already dead.

Everyone stared at the corpse for a moment before shifting their gazes to Anthony. Although they could see the purple trident, they didn’t even look in its direction. After all, a Genesis Grade artefact and the corpse of an Eternal Apex weren’t on the same level; they were realms apart. Besides, nobody present even used a trident as a weapon.

"Anthony, what about the rest of the treasures from the Lover of Death’s personal vault?"

Nathaniel couldn’t help but ask. He didn’t want to be surprised twice, as it was better to go through everything at once rather than in batches.

Anthony remained silent for a moment before simply nodding without saying anything. The Law of Space hummed around him as the entire Sect Master Hall expanded internally while remaining unchanged externally.

’Don’t tell me...’

Before the Punisher could finish his thoughts, Anthony waved his hand and brought out all the treasures he had taken. With a boom, they crashed into the Sect Master Hall like a flood, a torrent of treasures surging forward. The Above Disciples, Core Elders, and Sect Master had no choice but to shoot into the air, levitating and floating in place.

They stared downwards in pure shock at the sea of rewards that filled the entire Sect Master Hall. They couldn’t believe their eyes. They had never seen this many treasures, many of them glittering brilliantly, while others were old and covered in dust. They swallowed hard, as even their Null Sect didn’t possess this number of treasures.

Now they could understand why those Eternal Apexes had been so hell-bent on killing Anthony and taking everything he possessed. Surely, even the Ancient Organizations weren’t this wealthy.

’How did the Lover of Death acquire such a ridiculous number of treasures and items?’

Null Nathaniel asked himself as he floated in place, his body turning in various directions as he took everything in. If Anthony hadn’t expanded the space internally, the Sect Master Hall would have been filled to the brim, the treasures piling up to the ceiling before the windows and roof shattered under the pressure, allowing the treasures to pour outside.

’Just as the Core Elder said... what can we possibly give Anthony that he would accept? What does he even need? At what point do Contribution Points become our only option?’

The Sword Ruler thought to himself in disbelief.

But he wasn’t the only one. Everyone else was experiencing their own share of shock.
