Chapter 4807: The Last Day
Chapter 4807: The Last Day
Shen Shiqi gestured for the other three to lean in closer. He lowered his voice, “I’m only telling you this because it’s you guys. You’d best send a message back to your families. I’ve heard that the Four Great Emperors are working together to deal with that Ghost Doctor Feng Jiu. They want her dead because they’re afraid she’ll ascend, seize their power and territory, and eventually stand above them all. That’s why they want her eliminated.”
The three men were visibly shocked, exchanging stunned glances. One of them finally managed to ask, “Do you really think that even if Ghost Doctor Feng Jiu succeeds in ascending, she can defeat the Four Great Emperors on her own?”
“Hahea that’s why I said your information isn’t reliable,” Shen Shiqi chuckled, casting a knowing look at them. “This Ghost Doctor Feng Jiu is no ordinary person. Moreover, there’s something else you don’t know: the Immortal Emperor, who ascended to immortality a year ago, has a very deep friendship with Ghost Doctor Feng Jiu.”
This revelation stunned the trio; they clearly hadn’t anticipated such a connection.
“If she really ascends to immortality, will the Four Great Emperors join forces to suppress her? Would they even involve us, the prominent families, in suppressing the Ghost Doctor Feng Jiu? It seems…” one of them mused, a slight frown creasing his brow.
Shen Shiqi leaned back in his chair, seemingly unconcerned. “Just listen to me! You won’t go wrong. If there’s anything you don’t understand, simply pass the message back, and your family elders will consider it.”
Seeing his confidence, the three exchanged glances again, then bowed respectfully. “Old Shen, thank you very much.”
“We are all brothers, there’s no need to thank me,” he waved his hand dismissively, his gaze drifting towards the bustling street outside, wondering when he would next encounter that intriguing little girl. The next time he saw her, he was determined to ask her how she had so skillfully evaded them.
Days turned into weeks, and an unusual oppressiveness settled over both the lower and upper immortal realms. In the upper immortal realm, the aristocratic families and sects felt an uncanny sense of peace, almost as if it were the calm before a storm—a tranquility that stirred an unsettling anxiety for no apparent reason.
Today marked the seventeenth day of Feng Jiu’s ascension to the heavens, and also her final day. If she could successfully withstand the three remaining lightning tribulations today, she would undergo a complete rebirth, achieve an immortal body, and ascend to the Nine Heavens.
The three lightning tribulations scheduled for today were agonizingly slow to arrive. The clouds gathering in the sky, however, grew increasingly oppressive and terrifying. Over the vast sea, powerful winds whipped the waves into a frenzy. They roared as they crashed against the shore, sending towering waves high into the air before they collapsed with thunderous force.
In the Eastern Sea Spirit Realm, monarchs from all corners watched from a safe distance. Luo Yu and the eight Phoenix Guard captains, along with Du Fan and Guan Xilin, remained fixated on the steadfast red figure, who continued to sit quietly amidst the tempest.
After so many days of relentless tempering by the lightning tribulation, the special red robe she wore was now visibly charred and torn in places, its vibrant color faded.
Despite the punishing ordeal, her expression remained serene, as calm as ever. The Blue Lotus between her eyebrows continued to emit a steady stream of vital energy, providing her with continuous support. She seemed utterly oblivious to her surroundings, completely absorbed in the arduous process of her ascension.
In the Upper Immortal Realm, the Four Great Emperors had convened in the sky, their formidable gazes fixed downwards upon the dramatic scene unfolding below.
