"You mean, when the last tribulation lightning strikes, the four of us will combine our strength to intensify the lightning and thunder and deal her a heavy blow?" One of the Emperors listened to these chilling words, his expression shifting slightly as he pondered the implications.
"That’s right," the Great Emperor who proposed the plan affirmed with a nod. "Although we’ve been working behind the scenes these past few days, we all know that the power of the heavenly thunder we can summon is, at most, two levels below our own cultivation. If it comes to that, the four of us will each use 60-70% of our strength. Do you truly believe that she, alone, will be able to withstand 60-70% of the strength of each of us?" His voice was laced with an undeniable logic, a cold certainty that their combined might would be overwhelming.
"Will there be any risk?" asked a more cautious Great Emperor, his tone hesitant, his brow furrowed with concern.
"What risk could there possibly be?" the Great Emperor who made the suggestion countered, dismissing the worry with a wave of his hand. "As long as we can kill her, even if we consume too much spirit energy and our bodies can’t recover in a short period, what’s the harm in resting and recuperating for a while?" The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became that the plan was not only feasible but strategically sound.
The other two Emperors considered his words carefully, weighing the risks against the potential rewards. Finally, they nodded in agreement. "Okay! Let’s do it!" they declared, their decision made. Even if it meant injuring themselves, as long as they could eliminate the Ghost Doctor Feng Jiu, it would be a price worth paying.
And so, with a sinister accord, the four of them began to rest and recuperate, conserving their energy. They prepared to wait until the final, most potent lightning tribulation gathered, poised to strike. At that precise moment, they would combine their four immense powers, unleashing a coordinated, fatal blow upon Feng Jiu!
Meanwhile, in the distant Eastern Sea Spirit Realm, Guan Xilin and his wife, Wanyan Qianhua, had arrived. Besides them, other members of the Eight Phoenix Guard also gathered, their presence a testament to their unwavering loyalty.
They assembled there to protect her, watching her arduous advancement with a mixture of awe and profound worry. Over the past few days, they had watched the lightning tribulation in the sky unfold, accompanied by terrifying air currents that struck Feng Jiu with deafening force. Along with the raw power of the lightning tribulation, there were also blinding flashes of lightning that made them tremble with fear. Their hearts remained in their mouths, gripped by the constant dread that Feng Jiu would not be able to withstand the onslaught and might collapse at any moment.
"She seems to be doing fine," Wanyan Qianhua said softly, but her hand was tightly clenched around Jun Jueshang’s hand, leaving several unnoticeable marks on his palm from her unconscious grip.
Jun Jueshang gently patted her hand, attempting to soothe her fears. "Don’t worry! This isn’t her first time going through a calamity. She’s always made it through before. It’ll be fine. Relax a little."
"How can I relax?" Qianhua retorted, her voice tinged with anguish. "You said that Mo Ze is in such a state, still lying at the bottom of the sea, sleeping, and no one knows when he will wake up. If something happens to her, what will we do?" The more she spoke, the more nervous and worried she became, her beautiful eyes fixed intensely on Feng Jiu in the distance, a small, vibrant figure amidst the elemental fury.
"Little Jiu has survived 77 lightning tribulations, so don’t worry! Nothing will happen to her. I believe in her," Guan Xilin said, his gaze also fixed on Feng Jiu in the distance, a flicker of pride in his eyes despite the tension.
From their vantage point, they couldn’t see Feng Jiu with perfect clarity, partly due to the distance and partly because of the swirling pillars of lightning that surrounded her. However, if they concentrated and looked closely, they could still faintly discern the Blue Lotus floating between her eyebrows and the distinctive Blue Lotus aura emanating from her body after each set of three lightning tribulations every day.
Watching her endure the relentless lightning tribulation, Qianhua’s heart was filled with mixed emotions—admiration for Feng Jiu’s strength, but also a deep sense of dread regarding such a path. She held Jun Jueshang’s hand and sighed softly, "Let’s not go through this tribulation of ascension. With our cultivation, even if we can’t live as long as heaven and earth, we can still enjoy two or three thousand years of life. Not everyone can go through this tribulation of ascension, nor does everyone dare to." Her words reflected a profound respect for Feng Jiu’s courage, and perhaps, a quiet acknowledgment of the terrifying cost.
