Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 4731: Good Intentions

Chapter 4731: Good Intentions

Muchen was sitting by the roadside, munching on a spirit fruit when he saw a young lady in a blue dress approach him.

“Little boy, this is from my mistress.” She squatted down, as she smiled and asked: “Why are you here all alone? Where are your parents?”

As she spoke, she handed him the pastry. “Here, eat this!”

Muchen glanced at the pastry in her hand and said, “No, thank you.”

“It’s alright, my mistress is kind, just take it!” The young girl said, looking at him and asking, “Do you have any bag to put it in?” The girl, however, insisted, explaining her mistress’s generosity and, seeing his reluctance to take it, decided to leave the plate of pastries with him, promising to retrieve it the following day. Muchen paid little attention to the offering, instead focusing on his spirit fruit before closing his eyes to rest.

Inside a nearby carriage, she recounted her meeting with the little boy. “Madam, that child seems to be alone, with no adults around. I gave him some pastries, but he said he didn’t want them, so I left the plate there. I’ll go back and get it later,” the maid said softly as she came to her side to help her boil tea and pour water.

Hearing this, the lady lifted the curtain and took a look, then said, “Such a small child, his parents really trust him.”

“Madam, I think this child is very smart! He knows to follow our carriage, so at least he won’t run into any trouble.” The maid said with a smile as she poured her a cup of tea and asked,

“Madam, it’s not completely dark yet. Shall we get out and take a walk?”

“That’s a good idea. We’ve been sitting all day.” The lady said, and with the help of the maid, she got out of the carriage.

She walked around for a while, then came to the little boy and looked at him sitting on the grass with his eyes closed, resting. She couldn’t help but smile gently.

“Are you tired? Come rest in my carriage!” Looking at this child who was only about five years old, pity flashed in her eyes: “You’re so young, you’ll easily catch a cold sleeping here at night. There’s only me and a maid in my carriage. Why don’t you sleep in my carriage for the night?”

Muchen opened his eyes and looked at her. Seeing her gentle expression and the soft look in her eyes, he was inexplicably reminded of his mother. Perhaps because of this, he softened his refusal a little and was no longer as stiff as before.

“I’ll rest here.”

Seeing this, the lady smiled and said to the maid beside her, “Go ask the guards to set up a small tent.”

“Yes.” The maid replied and left. Before long, she returned with a small tent.

“This is for you! Since you don’t want to rest in my carriage, you can rest in the small tent so you won’t catch a cold at night.” She smiled gently and said, “Our convoy is going to Palatial City. If you’re going the same way, you can follow us! At least it will be safer.”

Looking at the small tent, Muchen didn’t refuse. Instead, he stood up and bowed to her and said politely, “Thank you.”

Seeing this, the lady couldn’t help but smile, “You’re welcome.” With that, she turned and returned to the spirit beast carriage to rest.

After watching her leave, Muchen set up the small tent and crawled inside to rest. As night fell, the excessive silence in the air made Muchen, who had closed his eyes to sleep, open them again.

Understanding his reluctance, the mistress instructed her maid to set up a small tent for him. The maid promptly returned with a tent, which the mistress presented to Muchen, explaining it would protect him from the night cold if he preferred not to use her carriage. She also offered their convoy’s direction, Palatial City, suggesting he could follow them for safety if their paths aligned.

Muchen, seeing the tent, accepted the gesture. He stood up and bowed, expressing his gratitude. The mistress smiled, acknowledging his thanks before returning to her carriage. Once she was gone, Muchen set up the tent and entered it to rest. However, as night fully descended, the profound silence unsettled him, causing him to open his eyes once more.
