To retrieve his son in the future, and then personally educate him, making him realize the facts and change his statement, saying he was captured by accident while wounded in battle, but with his resilience and unyielding spirit, he was eventually rescued by the Special Forces.

Sending Little Curtis to the military was originally meant as a means to gild his resume, serving as a Congressman is definitely a boon with a service record.

Ralph thought this was not a serious blow to the family's honor but rather a great opportunity to shape his son into a war hero.

As long as his son returns and acts out the script he'd designed, and he contacts his friends in the media to hype it up, getting on television and such, Little Curtis' political future would be boundless, possibly even surpassing his own.

The Pentagon initially strongly opposed this unthinkable plan.

However, under the intervention of the Military Committee and the White House, they ultimately had no choice but to agree to execute the rescue mission.

But unexpectedly, Little Curtis, while ridiculous, was not stupid; well aware of the US Army's tactics, he eventually assisted in the obliteration of the rescue ODA team.

After such an event, any normal person would definitely stop the rescue operation and leave things to fate without any further complaint.

But the people of the Curtis family never believe in the words "impossible."

Impossible is a word left for the poor.

For a family such as the Curtis', nothing is "impossible."

He once again used his influence to pressurize the military to send Special Forces for another rescue attempt.

The military bigwigs in the Pentagon were hopping mad, cursing out loud, but couldn't withstand the pressure from the White House and ultimately had to agree.

But this shamelessness completely infuriated the military leaders.

Though no one was clean, at least the military was not as shameless as civil servant politicians.

They secretly ordered the ISA to take action, ostensibly to rescue, but in reality to silence.

Willie received this order.

But the outcome was completely unexpected by everyone.

The rescuers did indeed find the hiding place of Little Curtis, but he was not there; instead, he had gone to Ba Country.

Ralph once again began his shameless performance, demanding the military to send troops deep into Ba Country for rescue.

The military also wished to silence him at this time.

After all, Little Curtis' identity was too sensitive, and he knew too much.

From the perspective of military discipline or their own image and interests, he must be eliminated.

So, this time the military did not oppose the deep penetration into Ba Country for the rescue.

Song Heping and Willie were precisely the team tasked with this mission, even though Song Heping did not know from the beginning about this assassination order.

The military thought they were very clever.

But the bigwigs in the Pentagon still underestimated the power of the Curtis family.

As the military issued the assassination order, an internal informant had already passed the message back home and notified Ralph.

The military's intent to silence was Ralph's biggest concern all along.

He hurried to call his family's current decision-maker, his brother Jeff, to discuss how to deal with it.

After going off on his disappointing younger brother and nephew, as the older brother, Jeff ultimately softened up and agreed to help.

"Jeff, that's your nephew, my son! I only have this one son, do you want to see my line end here? Father told us when he was alive that we should support and help each other. What's the reason our family has prospered for a hundred years? It's unity!"

"Alright, don't press me with family spirit, I'll agree to help you!"

Jeff finally presented his own plan.

"There's only one way to save my nephew now, go to the Elder Council!"

"The Elder Council?"

Ralph's expression changed upon hearing this.

He was well aware that the mysterious power and capabilities of the Elder Council were immeasurable, but seeking their help came with a price.

It was like serving Satan; you always have to pledge your soul.

The Elder Council doesn't want your soul.

But they demand tangible rights.

Asking them for a favor isn't a matter of money, it's about all possible future bargaining chips.

If the Elder Council helps you with one thing, then you will have to help them with another in the future, an equivalent exchange. Although the payment may not be immediate, this promissory note will have to be repaid sooner or later, or else unexplained accidents lead to unexpected deaths.

"Don't you want to save your only son?!"

Jeff said, "Right now, the person is in Ba Country, and even the military doesn't dare to make a move, only sending one person and another mercenary. If even the military doesn't dare to enter Ba Country lightly, do you have another way without seeking the Elder Council's help?"

After considering the situation, Ralph felt that Jeff was right.

The military had been wanting to kill his son all along.

It was just by chance that his son was transferred to Ba Country.

If he pressured the military to send another rescue mission, not to mention that the military leaders would agree in public but secretly issue a kill order, even if they truly intended to rescue, the national borders represent an insurmountable red line.

"Okay... I'll follow your arrangements."

At that moment, Ralph looked as dejected as a defeated rooster, having no choice but to nod in agreement.

At Jeff's request, the Elder Council immediately arranged a secret squad, utilizing their connections in Ba Country, and directly deployed this black ops team within Ba Country's territory.

He believed that with the Elder Council involved, success was guaranteed.

To his surprise, in less than a day, he received a message from an inside source—his son was dead!

Dead?!

How is that possible!

This news had just been confirmed last night and had reached Ralph's ears.

He called Jeff, demanding that he contact the Elder Council for an explanation of this outcome.

After a night of agony, they finally received Jeff's reply—the Elder Council would send someone in person to explain the matter during the family day tomorrow and would agree to another condition for Ralph as compensation for the failed operation.

Ralph hurried back to Wisconsin with his wife early in the morning to the manor that symbolized the family's glory to await Jeff's arrival.

The black Lincoln sedan stopped on the historic stone road in front of the main building.

The driver opened the door for Jeff, and after getting out, Jeff personally went to the other side to open the door for the distinguished guest sitting inside.

As the black car door opened, a middle-aged bald man with a goatee and gold-rimmed glasses stepped down, holding a cane. The top of the cane was made of platinum, featuring a carving of Satan's head, with rubies embedded in the eyes, lavish yet eerie.

"Mr. Campbell, right this way, please."

Jeff courteously gestured towards the entrance of the building, bowing slightly with a humble demeanor, completely unlike his usual self.

"Hmm." Mr. Campbell did not give Jeff another glance, merely nodding with a symbolic smile, then toying with his cane, walked head held high towards the main entrance.
