Mercenaries, I Will Be King
Chapter 610 - 554: Lascano's Counterattack
While Song Heping and the Ferrari discussed money laundering across the ocean, a van parked in an alleyway outside the police station on Fishelli Street in the district of Vidoli City.
About 150 meters across from the police station, two dark figures crept on their hands and knees to the edge of the railing on the rooftop of a commercial building.
Both were carrying large gun bags on their backs, which they took off and laid on the ground before pulling out two SG 550 Sniper rifles from inside.
This rifle was developed by SIG based on the SG550 assault rifle as a sniper variant. It has a heavy barrel, providing excellent firepower suppression and accuracy at medium ranges, and is beloved by various military and law enforcement agencies.
After a simple check, both fitted night vision scopes and 30-round extended magazines to their weapons.
"Ready!"
Exchanging glances and nodding to each other, they began to set up their rifles.
The target was the police station, and the distance was short, just over 100 meters, approximately around 150.
At this distance, there was no need for any corrections, let alone range finding.
It was a very straightforward assassination mission.
The two patiently waited on the rooftop.
About half an hour later, the surveillance team's report came through the earpiece—
"Target has crossed the intersection lights, 500 meters to go."
"Received."
The duo calmly responded and then slightly adjusted their shooting position.
Through the scope, there were three guards at the police station entrance.
Two armed with rifles, one with a pistol, and a barrier gate that needed to be raised for entry.
After entering, it was about 50 meters to the office building, with a large yard and open space in front.
The terrain was quite favorable.
At least the large front yard was an unobstructed open space, and even if one tried to sprint into the office building for cover, they couldn't escape the rooftop snipers' aim.
"Everyone, be on your toes. Tonight, we're going to give these cops a wake-up call, make them shudder at the mere thought of us, and not dare to mess with us."
Lascano's voice came through the earpiece.
"Are all other units in position?"
"All in position."
"Listen to me, once the attack begins here at the station, the other units will also start their attack, not a single target shall survive, kill them ruthlessly! From tonight until dawn, it's our first wave of revenge, make it count! I want Victoria City to be stained red with blood before the sun rises!"
"Understood! Boss!"
"Got it, Big guy!"
Various responses could be heard uninterrupted.
Lascano stubbed out his cigarette.
Tonight, he had arranged 9 attack teams, each with 10 people.
The goal was to bloodily purge the police station and the family members of police officers.
"That's the signal."
The surveillance subordinate finally signaled the arrival.
The rooftop snipers glanced over and saw a convoy heading their way.
In the middle was an armored vehicle, flanked by a pickup truck both in front and behind, all loaded with heavily armed military and police personnel.
As the convoy reached and was about to turn at the gate in front of the police station's barrier, one of the rooftop snipers pulled the trigger.
Bang—
Bang—
Two gunshots rang out.
Blood splattered from the driver's side, staining the window red.
"Attack! Attack!"
The military police reacted quickly, jumping out of the trucks to find cover after sounding the alarm.
The armored vehicle didn't stop, the driver flooring it towards the entrance.
The officer with the pistol at the gatehouse immediately rushed towards the barrier controls, intending to raise the gate and lower the ground obstructions.
However, just as his hand touched the control device, the other sniper on the roof fired.
Bang—
Just one bullet.
The officer attempting to open the gate staggered before collapsing in front of the control device.
"Rooftop! Rooftop!"
Finally, someone spotted the position of the attackers on the rooftop 150 meters away.
Everyone began to raise their guns and shoot towards the rooftop.
However, in a rush, they did not have their night vision gear on, so the shots were inaccurate.
Many took cover behind the vehicles, attempting to activate their night vision devices.
Then, the sniper kept pulling the trigger.
The semi-automatic firepower of the SG 550 Sniper demonstrated its immense suppressive capabilities at this moment.
Bullets pierced through the bodies of pickup trucks, hitting and knocking down the special police officers who failed to take refuge behind the engines.
Screams echoed through the night sky.
The armored vehicle charged too fast. Without the ground resistance and barriers being removed, it crashed head-on with a metallic clang.
The Senior Police Officer inside, who had just completed last night's siege operation, had been resting with his eyes closed in the backseat. He was so startled that his soul nearly left his body, and he banged his nose on the front seat, blood gushing down.
The vehicle could no longer move.
The driver attempted to open the car door.
The Senior Police Officer immediately stopped him: "Our car is bulletproof, don't open the door!"
The driver immediately withdrew his hand.
Outside the vehicle, the sound of bullets hitting the car resounded like raindrops pelting a window.
By now, the rear door of the box truck in the alley had been opened.
Seven or eight dark figures alighted and set up machine guns amidst the trees and buildings for cover, starting a wild barrage towards the police station entrance.
Dadadadadada—
Dadadadadada—
The gunfire alarmed the on-duty police officers in the office building, who all grabbed their guns and rushed out to assist.
Two rooftop snipers immediately shifted targets.
They knew their guns couldn't penetrate the bulletproof vehicle.
Their goal to prevent vehicles from entering the compound had been achieved.
Now, they directed their attention to the office building.
200 meters away.
One down as soon as they emerged.
Several police officers who had just rushed out didn't even understand the situation before they were splattered with blood on the spot.
The rest were so scared they all retreated back into the building, peeking out from the doorways and beside the staircases, not daring to go outside.
Now, outside the gates, there were corpses strewn everywhere.
The intense gunfire had killed or injured the majority of the police officers on the two pickups, with blood flowing freely on the road.
The Senior Police Officer taking cover in the vehicle remained curled up under his seat, drenched in sweat.
He knew this was his only lifeline.
As a highly experienced Senior Police Officer.
He was well aware that leaving the vehicle meant certain death.
Staying in the vehicle, waiting for rescue.
This was the only way out.
After a while, it seemed that the sound of bullets hitting the vehicle had tapered off, not as intense as before.
Only then did the Senior Police Officer lift his head, hoping to see the situation outside through the vehicle's window glass.
Just as he lifted his head, he saw a fireball shoot out from the alley opposite, heading straight for the armored vehicle.
"RPG!"
His pupils contracted, reflecting the color of the deadly fireball.
...
After finishing the conversation with Ferrari, it was already 4 o'clock in the morning.
Song Heping took a hot shower and checked the guard posts around the estate with his gun before going to bed.
This was basically a good habit he brought from the military.
No matter how late it was, he would check the posts.
While this place was Shorty's property and a heavily guarded hideout, Song Heping couldn't let his guard down regarding the capabilities of the Cartel Group.
Especially since the siege on the Los Zetas Organization's headquarters tonight had not yet come to a conclusion.
Lascano had vanished like smoke in the air, unreached, his body unfound, and other members hadn't appeared on television either.
It was evident this guy was tough.
He probably ran.
Being able to escape successfully under the watchful eyes of thousands of military police, Song Heping had to admit this guy really had talent.
He finally managed to fall asleep, but Lascano's matter still occupied his mind.
Song Heping had an intuition.
He felt something big was about to happen.
The next morning, he was suddenly woken by the sound of pounding on the door, rolled out of bed, and heard Jiang Feng shouting from outside: "Old squad leader, get up! Get up! Something big has happened!"
