Chapter 2903: Chapter 2906: Under-the-Table Deal
"An invincible existence!?"
Everyone’s eyes went wide.
"You mean within the Domain?"
Lei Qingjun probed cautiously.
"No! I mean this stretch of space. Put it this way: that power is the key for breaking through from Supreme Pinnacle to the next realm. Whoever gains control of that power will be able to cultivate an existence Above Supreme!"
Jiang Chen gave a clearer explanation.
"What!?"
"An existence Above Supreme!?"
"There’s a realm above Supreme?"
Everyone was dumbfounded, staring at Jiang Chen in disbelief.
"Cultivation has no end. How could there possibly be no realm above Supreme?"
Jiang Chen smiled faintly, then said solemnly: "That power in the Dead Spirit Battlefield should be sealed inside the spatial interlayer of that battlefield. That’s my assessment. Once the Dead Spirit Battlefield completely fuses with the Extraterritorial Battlefield, that power is very likely to merge into the Extraterritorial Battlefield. In other words, as long as the Dead Spirit Battlefield doesn’t fall into Necro Spirit control, then the power in the Extraterritorial Battlefield is the real priority!"
"That power is hidden in each Secret Realm?"
Zhang Sanfeng’s eyes lit up.
"Right!"
Jiang Chen nodded, saying gravely: "I’ve already detected that power in the Secret Realms, and the Extraterritorial Alien Race has never launched a full-scale assault. Very likely they’re trying to crack the method for controlling that power! That power is too strong—having Unity Realm Stage cultivators crack it, taking a hundred thousand years or more is totally normal."
Of course, the most crucial point, Jiang Chen did not mention.
To gain control of this power, one needs the fusion of ten kinds of initial source Power of the Great Dao.
And anyone who has never undergone the Great Dao Fusion process to open the Heavenly Dao, even if they encounter this initial source Power of the Great Dao, wouldn’t know what to do with it.
Otherwise, with so many Supremes, they wouldn’t have spent all these years studying it and still have so few clues; even Si Wenjun only fully understood after Jiang Chen absorbed the initial source Power of the Great Dao.
"So... what the vice-commander means is, we assault the Secret Realms either to force them to defend the realms, or rather, to seize that power?"
Dongfang Changkong said softly.
"Exactly! The Dead Spirit Battlefield has already started fusing. I believe it’ll complete soon. I’m worried that once the fusion completes, it might trigger a fluctuation in that power over here, which could make the Extraterritorial Alien Race sense something."
Jiang Chen nodded again: "As things stand, I might be the only one who knows how to crack that power. We need to take advantage of this and capture all the Secret Realms in one sweep. We don’t need much time—give me half a month for each Secret Realm and that’s enough. As long as I draw out all that power, the Extraterritorial Alien Race can forget about ever taking control of this space."
Jiang Chen did not say what would happen after drawing the power out. Some things, if they can stay unknown, are better left unsaid. One must not be without the heart to guard against others.
All the people present, aside from Zhang Sanfeng and Li Yuan, were from various super factions; some were even descendants of Great Emperors. If he said that he could rouse the will of the world and help Supreme Pinnacle experts break through to Realm Lord, it would only invite more trouble!
The few of them exchanged glances, and they also sensed this issue. But since Jiang Chen didn’t go on, they didn’t ask; this was not the time to ask. Whether there were private motives or not, they first needed to draw that power out.
And based on Jiang Chen’s words, they could also infer that that power could likely only be accepted by people at Supreme Pinnacle; others were unable to accept it. This was easy to understand—a power that allows a Supreme Pinnacle expert to break through is absolutely not something lower-realm people can withstand. Otherwise they’d end up exploding and dying or something similar.
"Alright, then we’ll do it like this. Let’s go and issue the orders first!"
Leng Junsheng and the others nodded in agreement.
"Hold on a moment!"
Jiang Chen called out softly, then raised his hand to point at the massive projected map, tapping each light spot one by one.
"This one, this one... these don’t require us to spend too much effort to occupy. I’ve been to all of them. We can take them and use them for cultivation, but it’s best to concentrate our forces on snatching those Secret Realms the enemy currently holds."
As he tapped, he spoke: "Right now there are a total of thirty-two Secret Realms. Excluding the twelve we previously occupied, there are twenty left. Just right—you five each claim four Secret Realms as your targets, so we don’t end up overlapping!"
"Uh... vice-commander, you arrange it for us!"
They hesitated for a moment, and Leng Junsheng spoke up.
Some Secret Realms are easy to defend but hard to attack; some lie directly on open plains, where defense is tough and it’s easy to be besieged inside the realm. So picking wasn’t simple. More importantly, Jiang Chen’s two direct Supreme Generals were here; even if Leng Junsheng and the others wanted the easier Secret Realms, they didn’t dare.
"I arrange it?"
Jiang Chen smiled, having understood their thoughts.
He stretched out his hand, and a strand of radiance flew from his palm, sweeping once across the twenty light spots on the projection.
Swish, swish, swish!
The twenty light spots linked up in groups of four, forming five lines, and five glowing threads appeared in Jiang Chen’s hand as well.
Jiang Chen rubbed both hands together, kneading the five threads into a ball, with a little bit of each thread wrapped around his five fingers. Then he clenched his fist, revealing only the thread ends.
"Pick for yourselves. Who’s first?"
After everything was ready, Jiang Chen smiled as he looked at the five—Zhang Sanfeng and the others—and when his gaze fell on Zhang Sanfeng and Li Yuan, a subtle meaning flashed in his eyes.
Zhang Sanfeng and Li Yuan’s minds moved, and they exchanged a look with Leng Junsheng and the other three.
"One!"
Suddenly, a strange syllable came out of Jiang Chen’s mouth. Then he added, "Just having a bit of fun, hurry up."
Li Yuan’s eyes flickered, and he chuckled softly: "Since no one’s choosing, I’ll go first. I’ll take the first thread!"
Back on Yuan Star, Li Yuan was Qi Shaxing and had always been operating overseas; knowing international languages was a must. That ’one’ from Jiang Chen—only he understood it. Naturally, he realized this was Jiang Chen’s hint to him.
Leng Junsheng and the other three glanced at each other and said nothing. Jiang Chen had produced the glowing threads right in front of everyone; there was no trickery. As for that ’one’, they truly hadn’t paid it any mind. There was no way for them to; none of them knew any international language.
After speaking, Li Yuan straightforwardly drew out the first glowing thread from Jiang Chen’s hand.
Whoosh!
The thread flared with light, and a corresponding streak of radiance appeared on the projection.
"The middle—Supreme General Li drew a good area. Your four Secret Realms are all, relatively speaking, easy to attack but hard to defend. Let’s hope you don’t suffer too heavy losses."
Jiang Chen reminded him softly.
"Understood!"
Li Yuan cupped his fists in salute and replied quietly.
Zhang Sanfeng had been watching Jiang Chen the whole time, but he hadn’t noticed any hint directed at him. Now that Li Yuan had chosen, which thread should he pick?
Wait!
No hint—then why imply that there were selectable lines for me? Could it be that I myself already have a hint? I...
