Max Level Return—I'll Protect That Fragile One
Chapter 711 - 268: One Stick Is Enough to Beat You
Huo Wen’an arrived in front of the Demon Palace estate gates, seeing the gates sealed tightly, without any trace of a guard outside and silence within. Puzzled, he concentrated and listened for a moment before leaping over the side wall of the courtyard.
After landing, Huo Wen’an raised his head cautiously and saw thirty wounded individuals lying neatly on the ground, with the Eagle Sparrow bizarrely curled up like a human against the garden wall, monitoring them.
Under the pressure of the Eagle Sparrow, the injured dared not move or groan, behaving obediently like vegetative patients.
Huo Wen’an suddenly raised his head, meeting the deep blue eyes of the Eagle Sparrow, and for an instant, he thought he was seeing a monster.
"Eagle Sparrow," he calmly called out to the Eagle Sparrow.
Even though he knew the Eagle Sparrow was lifeless and merely a battle mecha, Huo Wen’an still treated it like a warrior due to its War Spirit.
But the next second, the Eagle Sparrow actually nodded at Huo Wen’an and spoke with a human voice, "Hello, darling."
Huo Wen’an was just about to stand, and hearing those words, he almost fell back down in shock.
Leaning against the wall, Huo Wen’an looked up in amazement at the Eagle Sparrow, realizing it was Xu Xingguang speaking through telepathic control.
Huo Wen’an was bewildered. "Don’t joke around, it’s creepy."
After a while, seeing no further reaction from the Eagle Sparrow, Huo Wen’an proceeded to approach the wounded lying in the courtyard.
His eyes seemed to conceal an iceberg, and when his enchanting eyes swept over the wounded, it felt as though ice water was poured over them, bringing a more chilling intimidation than the Eagle Sparrow.
"Where has the girl who injured you gone?"
Girl.
Ha, it’s a Demon, right?
All the wounded tacitly looked towards a building on the far right of the estate.
The building was adjacent to the tower, but the tower had been blasted apart by Xu Xingguang, leaving a mess.
"Got it," Huo Wen’an dashed straight to the building. As soon as he entered the hall, he spotted Xu Xingguang coming down the stairs with a canvas bag.
Her scarlet lips curved, and her mood seemed quite good.
Huo Wen’an recognized this building as the surveillance tower. Seeing Xu Xingguang in high spirits, he guessed her objective was achieved on this trip.
"Did you get it?" Huo Wen’an’s tone was somewhat tense, worrying about her.
Xu Xingguang nodded, "Got it."
She looked at Huo Wen’an, seeing the worry and fear in his eyes, and realized belatedly that she was wrong.
"I’m sorry," Xu Xingguang admitted, "I should have notified you in advance instead of acting on my own."
Huo Wen’an examined her, noting her new clothes were clean without a trace of blood, which finally put him at ease.
He knew Xu Xingguang was a decisive person who would commit fully once she made a decision.
Yet he was still a bit upset.
"You should have told me, let me come with you," Huo Wen’an said with tightly pressed lips, his eyes cold.
He emphasized seriously, "You know, I never stop you from taking risks, but I hope to join you on those adventures."
Xu Xingguang thought seriously before speaking, "This time, I didn’t think it through, there won’t be a next time."
Huo Wen’an’s expression softened slightly, "I hope so."
Rumbling sounds came from the southeast direction of Bai Ze Island, getting closer and closer.
Xu Xingguang lowered her head, Huo Wen’an raised his, and their eyes met, both becoming serious and grave.
They both knew the Old Palace Master had returned.
Xu Xingguang came down the stairs, standing face-to-face with Huo Wen’an, and asked, "What do you think?"
Huo Wen’an revealed his plan to Xu Xingguang, "You handle breaking the mutated virus, and I will reorganize the Divine Martial Realm; we’ll cooperate and divide the tasks."
Xu Xingguang nodded, "That’s exactly what I was thinking."
Seeing the fighting spirit in Huo Wen’an’s eyes, she understood his thoughts. "Do you want to kill the Old Palace Master yourself?"
Huo Wen’an gave her a look, filled with deep meaning.
"Xingguang, only by killing the Old Palace Master with my own hands can I intimidate the criminals on Bai Ze Island, establish authority, and govern Bai Ze Island. I must do this."
Xu Xingguang replied calmly, "You’re right."
She raised her head to kiss Huo Wen’an’s forehead, her red lips whispering in his ear with a smile, "Xiao An, let me see the true combat power of the Divine Hidden Clan’s top warrior."
"Okay," Huo Wen’an said, "I will certainly deliver."
Ancient Xia Country had numerous ancient martial arts families.
The Divine Hidden Clan, being of the Royal Family, never participated in the rankings of ancient martial families. Over time, people had overlooked the combat power of the Divine Hidden Clan. Thus, when mentioning ancient martial families, everyone assumed the Fifth Family was the first, the Cang Clan second, and the Dongfang Clan third.
